Baltimore sun is reporting obama's family at one point owned slaves. Heh, should Obama be expected to issue a apology and "profound regret" like virginia did? :manicd:

I can only assume that not many American troops have died in Iraq recently.
In the past several days Ive heard the MSM report on.......
Mitt Romney great-grandfather having several wives.
Al Sharpton being descended from slaves that were owned by Strom Thurmonds family.
Al Gore's 20 bedroom house using more electricity than the average home.
And now.....
Obama's white side owned slaves in the way back.

Geesh, what else will they report on until another attack on US troops.

Plenty of US troops are dying over in the big catbox of the middle east.
The largely Republican rich fatcats who are the paymasters of the MSM are telling them to distract us from that, preferably with stories that will damage the most viable liberal/moderate candidates or get Democrats to go after each other with more open viciousness than they have so far.

Freedom of the press? Ha!

Tank, what I am saying is that there hasnt been that big "story" over there regarding US Troops lately.
And it wasnt the GOP "paymasters" telling the MSM to release stories about Romney.

Its just a vindicitve, sensationalist media with nothing else better to do right now.

Newsweek's cover story this week was on the wounded coming back from Iraq and how the VA is failing them. I'd hardly say the war is being ignored.

Im not saying its being ignored. Im saying that on a day-to-day headline basis they are finding time to "report" on ridiclious things like Romney's family and Mr. Obama's.
How this passes for reporting must be making Mr. Cronkite turn in his grave.

Personally, what I got out of this article is this:

An Obama spokesman did not dispute the information and said that the senator's ancestors "are representative of America."

"While a relative owned slaves, another fought for the Union in the Civil War," campaign spokesman Bill Burton said last night. "And it is a true measure of progress that the descendant of a slave owner would come to marry a student from Kenya and produce a son who would grow up to be a candidate for president of the United States."

I think that says it all for me.

Well, I can't believe I'm actually going to semi-defend the msm here, but given that news feeds in the modern world are 24/7, it's not unrealistic to figure that at least some of that time is going to be given over to frivolous crap.

Plus, they are influenced by what people want to see, and Americans have a never-ending appetite for frivolous crap.

Iggy, if thats what you got.....good for you. I really hope thats all a lot of people get out of it.

Honestly thats my only point.
Report the frivolous crap, its what sells.

If I looked for half-a-second I could find 5 stories more important than this to report on.

Very ironic indeed....

I think Obama will probably need to worry more about people like Stanley Crouch than any ancestral connections to slavery. It looks like the black community isn't quite as supportive of Obama as I had expected. If Obama doesn't make the nomination though, we'll probably never have a black president. Soon, Hispanics in America will greatly outnumber blacks, and not long after that, Asians will become more numerous.

Basically, when it comes to elected representation, it doesn't look like blacks will be any less marginalized in the future than they are today. Granted, this marginalization is more connected to class than a lot of people seem to realize...

After reading this thread and realizing the imminent doom society is ultimately leading itself too, I hereby throw my support to Bill Clinton as supreme dictator of the US!
