here is a link to a great piece about what pigs the U. N. really is. this is for united nations haters like myself. it is a 45 minute clip so if u do not have at least a dsl line do not bother.
p.s. there are some graphic images in this clip, dead people and children, so if that stuff bothers you, be warned, it is not pretty.

Don't have time to watch it all, but the U.N. has failed if you ask me. We need to do something else.

I was unable to watch the video, because it appears to have been taken down. Can you at least briefly summarize what it was about?
For those of you who hate the United Nations so much, do you have any suggestions for alternatives? Do you feel that there should be no multi-national organizations, and no forums for international cooperation? I fully realize that there are problems with the UN, but I also believe that it was a lack of good international cooperation that lead to WWI and WWII. If nothing else, I think the UN has at least contributed to a sufficient level of international dialogue and cooperation to prevent a WWIII from breaking out.

Not as of yet, but to be honest, the League could not stop ww2, the UN can not stop WW3

I like multi-lateral leadership as well, but I prefer NATO. Screw the U.N.
Ultimately, what the U.S. chooses to do is a unilateral process, since Bush proved that the U.N. really has no way of stopping us from invading a country. I think we should listen to the rest of the world more, but I also think the U.N. is mostly useless.

The only thing good I can say about the UN was its part in ridding the world of smallpox, and its charitable work. Frankly, however, the thought of relinquishing control to a World Governing body just scares the willies outta me. Especially when Socialist start spouting off about a need for a "World tax" as they haven't been able to get enough money out of their own countries they have to go after ours. Guess where the "World tax" would be aimed at??? Can you say "Tax the Americans"?
The world doesn't need more government, it needs more free markets. Are you listening Europe?

I don't hate them, but I do think the organization needs some massive reform if it's to live up to its founding ideals.

Making generalizations about the European economies is tricky, if not downright pointless, as there's a variety of models they subscribe to. The macroeconimc model in continental Wester Europe is quite different from that in the Nordic countries, which is different from that practiced by Italy and Greece, which, in turn is different from the model in the UK and Ireland.

How come we're all pretty p.o.'ed at the UN - until they say it's time to implement sanctions and we're all like "That's right, you're not gettin' no penicillin - kiss it!", or a resolution gets passed and we have to go blow stuff up (ironically, UNITED with the military of other NATIONS. Heee!!! It‘s just like 10,000 forks, when all you need is a knife. Which you can’t have because of the sanctions!)
Then we're all about “supporting” the UN Damn, Norman Bates, which is it: UN good or UN bad? What's up with that. Leave the dice rolling for Atlantic City.

LOL, good luck to them on implementing that one... Any American politician who supported or voted in favor of such a thing could pretty much kiss their career goodbye.
