The Good Guys embarked on their second road trip of the year. It did not go smoothly. After winning two of three games in Pittsburgh, they dropped two of three in both Chicago, and St Louis. It was a very difficult road trip emotionally, because, in three of the five losses, the bullpen blew leads in the bottom of the ninth, and, in the other two, Mitch, who was in a miserable slump during the entire trip, struck out with men on base, for the last out of the game.
Also, during the trip, for whatever reason, there was a point where Mitch and Naomi did not talk to each other, either on the phone, or instant message, for six days. Mitch would call, and Naomi wouldn't be home. Then, if she tried him back, instant messaged him, or appeared online, he would either be riding the bus, to, or from, the game, getting dressed, or giving an interview. They didn't catch up to each other, until the last night of the trip, a Saturday, in St Louis. Mitch was in a terrible mood, the team having lost the game in the bottom of the ninth that day, and, to top that off, having had no luck at a riverboat gambling casino, dropping money, while losing every single horse race, he bet on, at least ten of them. While they were onlne that night, Naomi, after being comforting for about one minute, proceeded to launch into the old issues about their marriage, that Mitch had tried to leave behind while on the road, and that he knew he had to deal with, upon his return to Paradise. He politely asked her to please leave him be, and that he would discuss any and all issues with her, as soon as he returned home, and rested for 24 hours. Naomi, instead of being understanding, erupted, saying "I suppose you want discussion about my feet, a webcam show, and cyber tickling and sex tonight, right, Mitchell!" She said, in a snippy manner. "When did I ever fucking say that?! What I want, is just for you not to badger me tonight. I just want to chill, play the last fucking game tomorrow, and come home" Mitch replied. "Fine, tell you what. I wont badger you. In fact, how about I not say another word to you, so GOODNIGHT!" Naomi said, sending him an angry Yahoo icon face, and going offline. At that moment, Mitch knew that he was not headed home to a fun week.
When Mitch arrived home, on Sunday night, Naomi met him, and was on a rampage:" Guest room! I dont want to see you, or look at you!" Naomi said. Mitch, who was feeling lower than low, and felt himself sprialing into a deep, downer, mood, went to bed that night, and finally figured out what he thought was the real reason that he was feeling bothered. Mitch and his father had gone through another one of their estrangements earlier that year, in the offseason, this time likely for good, and Mitch knew that with spring training, and family obligations, he had never given himself time to deal with it, or to grieve. Now, with the long, lonely, nights, in hotel rooms, on the road, and his other problems with Naomi, the feelings were coming to the forefront. He needed to express this to Naomi.
In the morning, he awoke, and tried to approach Naomi. "Nai, please, let's talk and settle this. I want us to have a good homestand. I think I finally figured out what the problem is. I am feeling in a very down mood as a result of what happened with my father. It is a huge blow. That, on top of the pressures to perform, the road trips, the team. I think I'm just spent. I need to lean on you, not for us to fight. Please, help me through this, as I come to terms with it myself" Mitch appealed. Naomi stared at him coldly, not offering one drop of support, and said. "You feeling down over your father isnt an excuse, Mitchell. Life's tough, deal with it, baby. I'm down every damn day, sitting here, having spent 20 plus years of my life, being a wife and mother, instead of being an Academy Award winning actress. Life doesnt always work out the way we want. No one would feel sorry for you. You have three grown kids, a wife, a nice home, more money than 99% of the populace. No one cares about Mitch feeling down over his father" Naomi said, almost bloodlessly.
Mitch stared at her, in disbelief. "Okay, let me get this straight, first, you dont give a fuck that my heart is broken over my father, if you could react like that, and second, you are throwing it in my face that I ruined your career. Tell you what, Naomi, if I'm such a "waste", why dont you stop wasting your life? Go, be the Academy Award winner. Divorce me. I dont give a fuck! If you do, then maybe I wont have to listen to how awful I am all the time. I'm out of here, and maybe I'm done, with you, with baseball, the whole fucking lot of it! Understand, that I just dont care anymore!" Mitch shouted, taking off out the apartment door. When Mitch left the apartment, he was shaking. He went to the hotel, and bet the horses, losing another $200. He also had a drink, which was in violation of team policy, to have any alcohol, before a game, on game days.
When Mitch got to the park, in the late afternoon, before first pitch with the Giants, Lee Sniderman met him, and smelled the alcohol on his breath. "$100 fine, Mitch. You know the rules. No alcohol on game days. " Sniderman said, flatly. Mitch stared at Sniderman:" You think I give a fuck about your rules? Fuck your rules, and fuck you, old man!" Mitch shouted. "Okay, Mitch, you know what. I dont know what the fuck has gotten into you, but I wont tolerate you talking to me like that!. Go home, you are suspended for tonight! I dont have to deal with that shit from you!" Sniderman shouted back. "You want to know why I am like I am? Huh? That fucking bitch over there, who calls herself my wife, just told me earlier today that "life's tough, deal with it baby" when I told her I have been in a year long depression about my father. Is that a way for a wife who "loves" her husband, to talk to him, huh? I've been too god damn good to you, Naomi. Maybe if I had cheated on you, and verbally abused you, you would know what a bad husband is. All I feel now is seething rage and hatred for you." Mitch seethed. "Tell you what, big man. Why dont you come over here and hit me? Go on, beat your wife. This way, it would give me an excuse to leave you, you lazy, worthless bum!" Naomi screamed. "If you think I'm a lazy, worthless, bum, why dont you go see a divorce lawyer, big lady Aussie. Go on, divorce me, you think I care, do it!" Mitch shouted back. "Okay, you know what, the two of you, take tonight off, this has gone too far" Sniderman said. Mitch laughed:" Tonight? Why just tonight? Maybe I'm never coming back" Mitch said. "Mitch, if you dont show up, that is desertion, the rest of this year's contract will be voided, and you wont be paid. The best I can do, is to put you on the 15 day DL, and activate you on the next road trip" Sniderman said. "Give me tonight to think about it. I'll call you tomorrow" Mitch said. Sniderman nodded, and Mitch left the park.
That night, without Mitch, against the Giants, Kate Hudson gave up only one run in eight innings. However, the negative mood around the team seemed to affect them, as they scored no runs, and lost, 1-0. The next day, around noon, Sniderman called Mitch, who told him he would try to play. That night, the Good Guys had another game with the Giants. Mitch was in the lineup, but did nothing, going hitless in four at bats, with four strikeouts. That night, Gil Bellows allowed only two runs, but Paradise could not recover, losing 2-1. On Wednesday, Charlize Theron had the ball. Mitch struck out three more times, but the Good Guys scraped together three runs, and Charlize was brilliant, allowing only one in eight innings, to salvage the finale, by a 3-1 score.
Thursday was an off day. That morning, when the couple awoke, Naomi said. "Are we going to counesling today?" "No, why waste the money? I'd rather spend the $150 on the track, which I think I'll do" Mitch snipped back. "So, you've given up on us, after 24 years, you fucking coward. Do you want me to see a divorce lawyer? Just say the word, and I'm gone." Naomi said, tears of misery beginning to roll down her face. "I really don't care what the fuck you do, Naomi Ellen, dont you get that? After you told me that my depression over my father is trivial, it proves you don't care, so, after that, why the fuck should I care if you see a lawyer or not?" Mitch shot back. " You fucking coward! Cant face up to youself! I'm the only one who ever holds you accountable for anything. Mr Perfect! The homerun hitter, hero of Paradise. Hero of all of baseball. Going to the Hall of Fame. Everyone loves you, kisses the ground you walk on, thinks your shit dont stink. I'm the only one who ever tells it to you like it is, and for that, you want to desert me after I've given you 24 years of my life! You think you're so brave, so strong, but you are just nothing but a fucking coward! I cant stand cowards. I dont want to be married to a coward! You got that, you fucking scumbag!" Naomi screamed, at the top of her lungs, as tears flowed down her face. Mitch started for the door:" I dont want to deal with this shit" "You walk out that door, I am changing the locks, and I swear, we are finished, and you are out of my life, and I wont be doing any more talking to you. The next person you'll be hearing from is my lawyer!" Naomi screamed. Mitch stopped, and sat down. While he felt hatred toward Naomi, he couldnt bring himself to take that final step. "So what do we do?" Mitch said, quietly. Naomi, who was still crying, said "I dont know, Mitchell". "I dont appreciate that you are making my depression over my father out to be trivial. It is a serious problem, that I have to deal with. You dont understand that. Your dad died, and he loved you. Me, mine is alive and well, and he thinks his son is shit. All the family, and money, and fame in the world, cant take away those feelings. I dont expect to be allowed to abuse you over it, but nor do I expect you to trivalise it" Mitch said. "Maybe you need to go to seperate therapy. I cant help you with this, Mitchell, I'm not a shrink" Naomi said, flatly. "I'll see. I'm not saying you can, but I feel you trivialize it. That's not something a wife does to a husband she says she loves. That issue, we need to deal with" Mitch said. "Tell you what, let's chill, and play our games, sleep seperately for the rest of the homestand, and, on the last night, we'll do it, just for the hell of it, since we wont be for ten days after" Naomi said. Mitch nodded in agreement.
The next night, San Diego came to town. Neve Campbell was on the mound. Mitch got two singles, and Campbell fired a six hit shutout, winning 4-0. Rachel Leigh Cook took a 7-1 stinker loss on Saturday night. Kate Hudson was on the mound, on a sunny, bright, 85 degree Paradise day, in front of a sellout. Kate was dominant that day, striking out ten, but San Diego starter Jake Peavy was just as good, fanning eleven Good Guys in his seven innings of work. In the eighth, of a scoreless tie, Ed Burns came up with a man on, and blasted a homer. Hilary Duff relieved Kate in the ninth, and struck out the side, to finish off the 2-0 win.
The Dodgers entered Paradise on Monday night. Gil Bellows was the starter. He was magnificent, allowing but five hits, and no runs, as the Good Guys erupted for five runs, in a 5-0 shutout. Charlize Theron pitched on Tuesday night. She allowed but one run in six innings, and struck out nine. The game was tied, 1-1 in the eighth, when Amanda Bynes served up a homer. The Good Guys could not rally, and lost, 2-1. Neve Campbell took the mound on a sunny, warm, 86 degree Paradise day, in front of a sellout. That day, the Good Guys presented their fans with an early gift, scoring five runs in the first inning. With the big lead, Neve breezed, allowing but one run in her seven innings of work. The bullpen allowed another in the ninth, but the team clamped down, and came away with a 5-2 Good Guy win, that completed a winning five and four homestand. While things werent up to the usual snuff, with all of Mitch and Naomi's problems, a winning homestand was acceptable.
In the meantime, the team held it's Saturday night tickle party. The featured lee would be a fifty something attractive woman named Brenda, who was a window clerk at the horse track in the casino. At first, Brenda was reluctant to agree to the tickling, because, several years earlier, she had been held up by a tickling bandit, inside her apartment. When the team convinced her that the tickling would be fun, she agreed. She was tied to the bed in the middle of the fetish club, in a bra and panties. Second baseman Russell began the tickle on Brenda's neck with fingers, as she giggled:HEHEEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE! Working down, Center Fielder Burns was next, tickling Brenda on her underarms, sides, ribs, and belly with fingers, as she continued to giggle:HEHEHEHHEHEHEHEHHEEHHEHEHEHEHEHHEHEHEHEHEHEH! Moving down, Left Fielder Dawson was the next ler, tickling Brenda on her hips, inner thighs, and knees with fingers, as she giggled some more:HEHEHEHEHEHHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEEHE! Finally, Mitch positioned himself at her bare feet, and attacked them with his fingers, two feathers, and an electric toothbrush over her soles and toes. Brenda went berserk, wiggling her toes every which way, and squealing with laughter:HEHEHEHEHEHHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHHEHEHE! OKAY! OKAY! PLEASE NO MORE! I GIVE UP! NOOOO! HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHHEEHE! Finally, the tickle ended, and Brenda was untied.
On Wednesday night, Mitch and Naomi did have sex, but, it was hollow, and almost felt like obligation, more than love.
On Thursday afternoon, Mitch had to go to Nassau International, to catch the team flight to San Fransisco. "I'm not taking you. Call a cab" Naomi said. "Will you be here when I get back? Are you going to see a lawyer?" Mitch asked. "Mitchell, think before you talk. I let you fuck me last night, didnt I? Would I have let you fuck me if I was going to see a lawyer??" Naomi snapped. "So you'll be here when I get back?" Mitch asked.
Naomi sighed:" Keep pushing me and I wont. Yes, I will be here when you get back. The locks arent being changed, and I will be right here" Naomi said. Mitch nodded, and picked up his suitcase, and headed out the door.
So, it had been a very vitrolic homestand for the couple, unlike any they had seen for a long time. Now the question was, was it just a bump in the road, or the beginning of real long term trouble? That answer to come in the continuing segment of the Tickle Team From Paradise Island.

The End

Well we see a much darker side of Mitch here. It doesn't really seem like Naomi was sensitive enough to him there. Perhaps things will get better for them. Another great one and I look forward to the next one.

Thank you, happy, your praise is appreciated, as always. Mitch is feeling very dark. Essentially, his father dumped him. At any age, that is a crushing blow, when a parent dumps a child. Mitch spends so much time on playing ball, and with his family, that he never really had the opportunity to deal with it. The long road trips, and nights on the road, brought the feelings to the forefront. When he expressed this to Naomi, she brushed it off, not something that a wife who supposedly "loves" her husband does. Mitch is tired of being berated by Naomi, and being told how bad he is. He wants to be told he's good, by the most important person in his life, as, even if 50,000 strangers chant his name every night, for hitting a home run, he still needs to be told in private that he is worthy, and not bad, all the time.
In his heart, Mitch knows he probably should leave Naomi, but he has many issues to consider. Mitch has twenty four years, three grown kids, and a lifetime invested in her. It is excruciating for him to turn his back on that. Also, due to his kids, Mitch will never really be "finished" with Naomi. Their lives will be intertwined, no matter together, or apart.
My PM to you explained where this might be going. Thanks again for the support, and stay tuned, as there will be more to come soon, likely on Thursday.

Mitch
