The Good Guys had a fairly quiet winter following their World Series victory. There were the usual banquets, parties, and celebrations, that went along with being a World Champion baseball team. Mitch and Naomi's status that winter, could best be described as "Status Quo". They attended their obligations, and counesling, and had sex, but, it was almost an "In The Groove" time, where there was no great feeling of love, yet no extreme feeling of viscerality. It remained to be seen if such would continue into the regular season.
After a mediocre spring, the team opened the season on an overcast, cool day in Paradise, with a stiff wind, and temperatures in the low 70s. After the championship ring and flag ceremonies, the Good Guys took to the field. Kate Hudson, of course, was the starter. She pitched a very fine game that day, allowing but one run, in eight innings. The Good Guys, however, could do nothing offensively, and bowed to the Mets, 1-0. The weather was a bit better the next day, for Opening Day Two. Gil Bellows was the twirler that afternoon. He allowed one run in his seven innings of work. Once again, the Good Guys could not do much with the Mets. The game was tied, 1-1 in the ninth, when Paradise finally pushed across the go ahead run, for a 2-1 win. Charlize Theron had the ball on Wednesday afternoon, in game three of the season. Paradise scored four early runs, and Charlize made it stand up, allowing no runs in eight innings, for a 4-0 Good Guy win.
Thursday was an off day. The couple showed up to counesling, and stated their situation. "We are in a lull. Nothing much is happening. We took two of three from the Mets, and things are status quo. Maybe that is better in a way, than the visercal fighting that we normally do" Mitch said.
Atlanta visited Paradise on Friday night, for the first night game of the season. Neve Campbell was the starter, and she did not pitch well, allowing six runs in five innings, of a 6-3 loss. Rachel Leigh Cook got hammered by the Braves on Saturday night, in a 7-2 defeat. Kate Hudson would oppose John Smoltz on a sunny, bright, 82 degree day, in front of a sellout. The crowd showed up that day, expecting a close duel between Hudson and Smoltz, who had battled many times in the past. What they got was a very different type of game. Smoltz was battling shoulder problems, and was far from at his best. The Good Guys tattooed Smoltz for five runs in the first, on two homers, and then got to him for another four runs in the second, as Mitch hit a Grand Slam. Smoltz, who had also been hammered, in his previous start, on Opening day, was clearly frustrated, and hit the next batter, Ed Burns, with a pitch, causing Burns to charge the mound, and touching off a bench clearing brawl, between the Good Guys and Braves. When the fight was over, Smoltz, Burns, Braves manager Bobby Cox, and Good Guy manager Lee Sniderman, were all ejected. The teams were warned to knock off the extra cirricular activities, as the Good Guys received notice that any retaliation from their pitchers, to the Braves hitters, would result in the ejection of the pitcher who threw the pitch, and the pitching coach. Once the proceedings settled down, Hudson pitched like Hudson, allowing one run in seven innings, with ten strikeouts, in a 9-1 win. Hopefully that win would cause Paradise to turn the corner.
Houston came to town on Monday night, in the last series of the homestand, before the Good Guys would hit the road for the first time that year. Gil Bellows pitched on Monday night. He allowed three runs in six innings, a quality start. Paradise, however, could only get two, in a 3-2 loss. Charlize Theron took the ball on Tuesday night. After pitching a shutout in her first start, Charlize got lit up. allowing five runs in five innings. The Good Guys trailed, 5-2 in the sixth, before rallying for six runs. The bullpen made the lead stand up, and the Good Guys had an 8-5 win. Neve Campbell took the mound, on a sunny, somewhat humid, 82 degree Paradise day, in front of a sellout, in the finale of the homestand. Neve pitched well that day, allowing three runs in seven innings. Paradise trailed 3-1 in the seventh, before erupting for four runs. The bullpen finished the game over the last two innings, and the Good Guys had a 5-3 win, that completed a winning five and four homestand. The team had been far from it's sharpest, but, they had managed a winning homestand. As they prepared to head on the first road trip of the year, to New York, they would hopefully continue to make progress.
In the meantime, the team held it's Saturday night tickle party, following the loss to the Braves. The featured lee would be losing pitcher Rachel Leigh Cook. She was tied in a bra and panties, hands and feet to the bed. Second baseman Russell began the tickle on Cook's neck with fingers, as her head shifted, and the giggles began:HHEHEHEHEHEHHEHEHEHEHHEHEHEHEHEHEHE! Working down, Center Fielder Burns was next, tickling Cook on her underarms, sides, ribs, and belly with fingers, as she thrashed:HEHEHEHEHHEHEHEHEHHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHHEHEHEHEHHHHEHEHEHEH! Moving down, left fielder Dawson was the next ler, tickling Cook's hips, inner thighs, and knees with fingers, as she bucked:HEHEHEHEHHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHHHEHEHEHEHEHEH! Finally, Mitch positioned himself at Cook's bare feet. He attacked Rachel's bare feet with fingers, feathers, and an electric toothbrush, over Cook's soles and toes. Cook went beserk, wiggling her toes every which way, and squealing with laughter:HEHHEHEHHEHEHEHEHHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHHEHEHHEE! OMG PLEASE NO MORE! I GIVE UP! NOOOOO! EHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHHEHEHEHEHEHEHE! Finally, the tickle ended, and Cook was untied.
On Thursday night, Naomi drove Mitch to Nassau International, so that he could catch the team flight to JFK Airport in New York: "No big problems this homestand. All is quiet. First road trip of the year. Play well, and I'll see you next Sunday night" Naomi said, kissing him.
So, it had been a quiet, although subpar homestand. Now came the first ten day road trip of the year. Would the team pick up their play? That answer to come in the continuing story of the Tickle Team From Paradise Island.

The End

So starts another season of Good Guy ball. This time they didn't light up the competition like usual and with no Mitch and Naomi difficulty I thought they might. Nonetheless, another great one and I look forward to the next one.

HappyD

Thank you, happy, your praise is appreciated as always. Yes, their start was a bit slow, but, they have started slowly before, and can shake that off.
As you know, stay tuned, there will be more to come soon.

Mitch
