The Good Guys embarked on their next road trip, to the center of the country. They had a rough road trip. After winning three games at Pittsburgh, they lost five of the next six games, in both Chicago, and St Louis. They returned home, for a nine game homestand, against the West Coast teams on a Sunday night.
During the last night of the Good Guys road trip, Mitch and Naomi, out of nowhere, had a very vicious argument. While many of their arguments were of the "We'll fight, stay mad for ten days, and get over it" variety, this one was a little different. During this argument, old issues were brought up. Mitch got infuriated at, and told Naomi it was over, and then caught himself, and begged her to come back. She was infuriated, saying he had broken her heart, and refused to accept his advances, or his apologies. Instead, she decided to take a breather herself, while not giving him any answers about their future together. Naomi was in no mood to play baseball, or to see Mitch, so, while the team was playing out the road trip in St Louis, Naomi called Lee Sniderman, and informed him that she would be taking an extended trip to Australia to visit family and friends, and would return on the next homestand. She didnt want to see Mitch, or to deal with the issues, at that point. She simply needed her space.
When Mitch got home, the apartment was empty, as his grown children had taken off to their friends houses, furious at their father, at the problem he caused.
While all this trouble was going on, the Good Guys opened a homestand on Monday night, against the Giants. Kate Hudson was on the mound. Mitch struck out four times. Hudson allowed only one run in her eight innings of work, but it was enough to defeat the Good Guys, by a 1-0 score. The next night, Mitch struck out five times. Gil Bellows was the starter. Paradise trailed 1-0 into the eighth, before rallying for two runs. The bullpen made it stand up in the ninth, and the Good Guys had a 2-1 win. Charlize Theron took the ball on Wednesday night. She allowed only two runs in her seven innings of work. Paradise, traling 2-0 in the seventh, rallied for three runs. The bullpen made the lead stand up, for a 3-2 victory.
Thursday was an off day. That day, with Naomi away, Mitch spent the day in the casino, gambling, mingling, and drinking. He was not happy, as his future was very uncertain.
San Diego came to town on Friday night. Neve Campbell was on the mound. She got hit hard, allowing four runs in seven innings. The Good Guys trailed 4-0 in the ninth, before rallying off the Padres. They cut the lead to 4-3 in the ninth, and had the bases loaded, and no one out, down by one run, when, second baseman Russell hit into a double play. After Paradise loaded the bases again, Mitch struck out to end the game, to a chorus of boos, in what was an excruciating loss. The next night, after the demoralizing defeat, Rachel Leigh Cook got hammered, allowing nine runs in three innings, of a 9-2 loss. Kate Hudson opposed Jake Peavy, on a sunny, humid, 88 degree Paradise day, in front of a sellout. Kate was not at her best, allowing three runs in seven innings. Paradise trailed 3-1 in the seventh, when they began hitting Peavy. By the end of the inning, they had six runs, and an eventual
7-3 win.
The Dodgers entered Paradise on Monday, with manager Sniderman badly wanting to win two of the three games, to gain some positive feeling, before the road trip to the West Coast. Gil Bellows pitched on Monday. He allowed nothing, shutting out the Dodgers for eight innings, as Paradise pushed across two runs in the eighth, for a 2-0 triumph. Charlize Theron took the ball on Tuesday night. She pitched a decent game, allowing three runs in six innings. Paradise trailed, 3-2, before rallying for four runs, and a 6-3 win. Neve Campbell took the mound, as the Good Guys looked for a sweep, on a sunny, hot, 90 degree Paradise day, in front of a sellout. The Good Guys trailed, 1-0,. into the eighth, when third baseman Michael hammered a homer with two men on. Paradise was three outs from the sweep, but, in the ninth, with a man on, Hilary Duff served up a homer, to Jeff Kent, to give the Dodgers a lead they would not relinquish, and hand Paradise another excruciating defeat. The homestand had ended with a winning five and four record for Paradise, but it could just as easily have been a six and three or seven and two home stanza, if not for the follies of the bullpen.
In the meantime, Mitch decided to skip the Saturday tickle party due to his problems with Naomi. The featured lee that night at the party would be closer Hilary Duff. She was tied in a bra and panties, hands and feet to the bed, in the fetish club. Center Fielder Burns began the tickle on Duff's neck with fingers, as she squealed:HEHEHHEHEHEHEHEHEHHEHEHEHEHHEHEHEE! Working down, third baseman Michael was next, tickling Duff on her underarms, sides, ribs, and belly with fingers, as she squealed some more:hEHEHHEHEHEHEHEHHEHEHEHEHEHHHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHHEHHHEHEHEHEHE!
