I was gooffing around a bit and cam across something that saud Tickle Torture wasn't practiced in China, but it was used in Japan and was called "Kusuguri_Zeme". Just thought you'd like to know.

I was on MySpace, and typed in tickle or tickling in the Video Search. I think it said the source of material was wikkipedia (sp).

Well, wikipedia isn't the most reliable of places, but that'd be interesting to look into further. From the little Japanese I know, it sounds right- the words, I mean. Kusuguri/kusuguru is generally tickling, so... *Shrugs*
I'm going to poke around for more on this. :D

Well it also mentioned something about how the Roman's used goats and sault water too. I believe that had been consedered fact for some time. And for the record TGG it's Girls + Tickle Torture = A Good Day. Who cares where there ansesters came from as long as they laugh.

Yeah, but I think was more like sanding skin off of the bottom of the feet. Like tickled at first, then hurt like hell.

Well if you were to tickle someone long enogh eventualy it isn't fun. Thats why some people use safy words. Not everybody can wear out a ler like Steph you know (or so I've heard).

Not a source i would depend on for much of anything myself since its my understanding that anyone can edit any entry there.

I can't really find much about it either... But it's nice to think of anyway. ^^;
I imagine that tickling as torture was implemented in all manner of places at the same time. After all, it shouldn't have been that hard to connect the dots about tickling and torture.

There was very little in Japanese culture aside from the code of Bushido and what derived from that (The samurai, the living blade swords, the ninja) that did not derive from China originally.
According to first person sources that were available to me in my family, the Russian Tsarist aristocracy used tickling as foreplay and as a punishment, but never for interrogation. They learned about it from the Cossacks, who learned about it from the Tartars they conquered for the Tsar.
The Tartars claimed to have learned it from the Chinese, who allegedly also used it for both foreplay and punishment, but not for interrogation. An interesting distinction, IMHO.

It doesn't really matter to me - Chinese and Japanese girls are both great to tickle!

Tickle torture did originate in the Han dynasty, but it wasnt general. It is used against people of noble origin as this method does not leave scars.

she told me that tickling was still taboo in china cause it was used as torture by the emperors. she said that chinese people both female and male were incredibly ticklish.

"Kusuguri zeme" is simply a literal translation of "tickle torture" into Japanese. However I'm skeptical of any claim that tickling has ever been used for punishment or interrogation. For one thing not everyone is ticklish, so it's not reliable. For another prolonged tickling leads to desensitization in just a few minutes. And finally I've never seen these claims supported with anything but anecdotal evidence. Most torture methods are better attested than that.
