The Good Guys embarked on their next road trip. They began by sweeping the Nationals three games in Washington, before going to Philadelphia, and loing three in a row, and then proceeding to Cincinatti, and winning two of three, for a winning homestand. Both pitchers were fine that day, with Smoltz firing seven inning of one run ball, fanning eleven Good Guys, and Kate pitching shutout ball for seven innings, punching out ten Braves. The bullpen with Hilary Duff was fine in the eighth. In the ninth, Hayden came on, and allowed Atlanta to load the bases, before striking out the very dangerous Mark Texiara, to finish off the Good Guys 1-0 win.
Houston entered Paradise on Monday, in the homestand's final series. Gil Bellows pitched on Monday, and atoned for his previous week's loss, by pitching a 3-0 shutout. Charlize had the ball on Tuesday, and got hit hard, allowing five runs in six innings, of a 5-3 defeat. Neve Campbell took the mound, on a sunny, hot, 89 degree Paradise day, in front of a sellout. The Good Guys were behind, 4-1, before exploding for eight runs in the seventh inning, on homers by Mitch, Ed Burns, and Dawson. The bullpen finished the game, for a 9-4 Good Guy win that completed a fine six and three homestand. Things seemed calmer for the couple off the field, and, as the team packed to head to New York, things were looking up.
