The Good Guys embarked on their latest road trip, and engaged in more mediocre play. They began the trip by losing two of three in New York, before winning two of three in Atlanta, and losing two of three in Houston. They returned home, on a Sunday night, to begin a nine game road trip, against the teams from the center of the country.
While Mitch was away on the road trip, the status quo between he and Naomi remained. The couple did not talk at all, and Mitch kept in touch with his three children, who were now all age of majority, by cell phone and e-mail. It was a long, lonely road for Mitch now, and, except for dinners with teammates, he could not distract himself. There were no casinos in the cities the teams traveled to, and Mitch had not been allowed to drink alcohol for years, due to the blood pressure medication he was on for his blood pressure condition. Mitch had to busy himself with dinners with teammates, going to shopping malls, and occasional movies, dependant on the times of the Good Guys games. Mitch knew he could not go on like this. As for Naomi, he really had no idea what she was up to, as his children, still living with the couple, but all off in their own lives, told him they did not know what she did while he was away. Part of him wanted to "Bite The Bullet", see a divorce lawyer, and have it be done with Naomi, while another part of him wanted to hang it out as long as possible, to see if anything could be salvaged, with Mitch knowing he would have to do something at the end of the season, if Naomi did not come around.
After another night in seperate rooms for Mitch and Naomi on Sunday night, the Good Guys opened their nine game homestand on Monday, with a game against the Pirates. Kate Hudson was on the mound. Paradise scored three first inning runs, and got no more. Kate, however, didnt need any more, as she fired a complete game four hit shutout, with eight strikeouts, in a 3-0
win. Gil Bellows pitched the next night. Paradise again didnt light it up offensively, scoring only two runs. Bellows, however, allowed but one run into the eighth inning, and combined with the bullpen, on a 2-1 victory. Charlize Theron took her turn on Wednesday night. She gave up but three runs in six innings, a quality start. The Good Guys, however, had their bats in a slumber again, scoring only two runs, in what would be a 3-2 loss.
Thursday was an off day. That day, Mitch and Naomi spent their days as they had the past several months, apart, with Naomi at the mall, and Mitch at the casino. The couple was living under the same roof, but not talking, and living seperate lives, all of which was a formula for disaster.
Chicago came to town on Friday night. Neve Campbell was on the hill. Neve gave up four runs in seven innings, and was certainly not sharp, but the Good Guys could not get her any runs, and lost, 4-0. Rachel Leigh Cook gave up five runs on Saturday night, in seven innings. Paradise nearly rallied from a 5-0 deficit, but fell short, losing 5-4. Kate Hudson had the ball, on a sunny, 80 degree Sunday, in front of a sellout. Kate, trying to avoid the sweep, was magnificent that day, allowing but one run in eight innings, while striking out thirteen. The slumbering Good Guy offense didnt help her out, though, scoring only one run while she was in the game. In the bottom of the eighth, with two men on, Ed Burns came up, and blasted a three run homer. Hayden came in for the ninth, and slammed the door, as the Good Guys avoided the sweep, with a 4-1 victory.

With the lead only 5-4 in the eighth, third baseman Michael homered with a man on to make the score 7-4. Hayden appeared again in the ninth, and got the save, and the Good Guys had a 7-4 win, that completed another uninspiring five and four homestand. Due to a very weak Eastern Divsion that year, Paradise was within striking distance of the division lead, as the Mets, Braves, Phillies, and other teams were not playing well either. However, as the team packed to head to Pittsburgh, rookie manager Elmont hoped his team would snap out of their season long slumber, and play like the Good Guys of old.
In the meantime, the team held its Saturday night tickle party, following the loss to the Cubs. The featured lee would be actress Jennifer Crystal, daughter of Billy Crystal, who had starred in her father's famous baseball movie "61", about the 1961 Roger Maris, Mickey Mantle home run chase. The pretty dark haired Ms Crystal was tied hands and feet to the bed, in a bra and panties, in the middle of the fetish club. Second baseman Russell began the tickle on Jennifer's neck with fingers, as her head shifted, and the giggles began:HEEEHEHEHEHEHHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEH! On Thursday night, Mitch was packed to head for the airport, and the team flight to Pittsburgh: "You dont ever have to talk to me, Naomi. That's fine. I'll take your silence as my answer" Mitch said. "Fuck you, Mitchell. I havent decided anything yet. We will decide at the end of the season, like you told the team" Naomi shot back. "Keep pushing me, and I will make the decision for you." Mitch said, to silence from Naomi, as Mitch picked up his suitcase, and headed out the door, to the cab to the airport, and the team flight to Pittsburgh.
So, it had been another homestand of just treading water, with a barely above 500 record, and no progress on the Mitch-Naomi front.
