the other night on the news they mentioned something about words beyond the grave...referring to Gerald Ford...and i looked at david and said..."isn't he alive?" and david thought he was also...so i went and googled..and damn if he hadn't died last December...the day after Christmas...that is just another example of the things i've been forgetting...am i going crazy? is this the beginning of Alzheimer's? cuz there have been those who have gotten that dreaded disease in their fifties....
i mean come on now...surely i would have remembered something so monumental as the death of a former president???? and his funeral?? was it a big deal? damn...that came as such a shock to me..i thought he was alive and well...o dear...i'm doomed...doomed i tell you...doomed....

It is interesting that you missed that, but I don't see it as any big deal. I'd be lying if I said I was always up on current events. Life already throws us too many things about which to worry, so I personally try not to add to them. You've got a great life, a husband you love and who loves you, and a lot of friends here at the TMF who love you too, and of course your cat, Chelsea. :cat: :)

Not Alzheimer's, Izzie. Ford was a fairly quiet and forgettable ex-President. No notable railing against anything like Carter, no ignominy like Nixon, no sex scandal like Clinton, no disease like Reagan -- nothing to keep the spotlight on him. And lost in the hubbub of Christmas, even more easily lost.
As for crazy? Word's still out on that, Iz. ;)

I don't know how you coulda missed it. It seemed like, to me anyway, they made a bigger deal about Fords death than Reagans.

I think you have more important things to think about than a former president dying. I think most people do.

well i'm not losing sleep over it...but i admit at the time it came as something of a shocker to me..and of course i have more important things to uh worry over..it's just that..well..i don't know..i usually have such a spot on memory for anything trivial...and this was far from trivial..but..like i said..it won't effect me ....it's the loss of memory that did..

Given that the news came the day after Christmas, you may have barely noticed it the day it happened. I'm sure that very few people interrupted their holiday celebrations to watch his funeral on TV.

Alzheimer's and or insanity is not defined by whether or not one remembers who is dead or alive. Unless of course it is someone in your own family that you have forgotten.

I am in a charitable mood today. I let you have one but then again overstating the obvious can be redundant.:evilha:

No. You are not going crazy at all.
This is the first time I've heard that he died as well...Of course, I'm also Canadian. It dosen't really apply to me.
Also...I don't give a shit about an American President.
Just let me know when Rod Stewart dies so's I can celebrate.:santasmil

It's not a big deal. You're not the first person to think someone was still alive and they really weren't. It's the same thing when you think 'I thought so-and-so was dead' when you learn that person is still alive. A little embarrassing to learn that you're wrong about whether a person is still alive or is dead, but overall it's not a big whoop. :D
