The Good Guys had a quiet and painful winter following their setback in the World Series. Most difficult was when they had to produce their yearly highlight DVD. Producing one with a seven game, heartbreaking, setback where they played like champions was very difficult, but having to produce a DVD of the embarrassment they suffered in the previous World Series, was agonzing. The team did it's duty, and made the video for sale as always.
Of more importance was the return of the team's players. Most everyone quickly signed contracts for the following year, wanting to exact revenge on the Yankees for the setback. Mitch, however, lagged behind. Mitch and Naomi had experienced a very difficult winter, with vicious arguments, bitter silence, lack of love, and many nights spent in seperate bedrooms. On the night before Mitch's birthday, in January, Naomi and Mitch had a particularly vicious argument, and Mitch spent his birthday, alone, at the casino, losing a lot of money, and getting drunk. During that winter, Mitch was really fighting himself. He had stayed in this rollercoaster marriage for over twenty years, many times feeling obligated due to the years that Naomi had put in with him. In his heart, Mitch truly didn't know if he loved Naomi anymore. Mitch had another issue that was haunting him. The Good Guy right fielder lived in deadly fear that if he decided to call it quits with Naomi, and his marriage, and "Pack her in", (As he often used to say about things he hated that he wanted to end) that, in turn, his now adult children, under no olbigation to see him because they had all reached the age of majority, would in turn "pack him in". Mitch didnt even know if it was Naomi. She had been depriving him of sex, tickling, and foot play for much of the winter, but, even if she suddenly let him tickle her, play with her feet, or gave him sex, Mitch just wasn't sure if he loved her anymore. Mitch knew he wasn't ready to do anything at that minute, and the only way that something would happen, is if Naomi packed him in.
With all these negative feelings hanging over Mitch and Naomi, the Good Guys opened their season on a windy, cool, overcast day in Paradise, that was not more than 70 degrees. After the NL Championship was acknowledged, the Good Guys took the field. The game quickly degenerated into a farce, as Kate Hudson was hammered for nine runs in the first inning, resulting in a chorus of boos from the crowd. The Good Guys didn't recover, and had a 10-0 bomb dropped on them by the Mets. The temperature was 73 degrees under partly sunny skies on opening day two. Gil Bellows pitched, and shut down the brutal Mets attack, with one run in eight innings, resulting in a 2-1 Good Guy win. Charlize Theron took the ball in the third game of the series. The Mets beat her up, pummeling her for six runs. The Good Guys tried to fight back, but came up one run short, losing a 6-5 decision.
Thursday was an off day. That day, the couple showed up to counesling. Mitch sat there, in silence, really far away, and lost from the situation that existed in his marriage. "I feel like you are so far away from me, Mitchell. What is it that you want? We've had a horrible winter. Will this ever improve?" Naomi asked. Mitch shrugged his shoulders, like he didnt know, or really didnt seem to care.
Atlanta came to town on Friday night. Neve Campbell was the starter. Neve allowed three runs in seven innings. The game was tied, 3-3 in the eighth, when Paradise pushed across the go ahead run. Hayden finished the game in the ninth, and the Good Guys had a 4-3 win. Rachel Leigh Cook gave up only two runs on Saturday night, but the Good Guys got none, and she lost, 2-0. Kate Hudson opposed John Smoltz, on a sunny, dry, 78 degree Paradise day, in front of a sellout. Both pitchers were at their best, with Smoltz allowing one run into the eighth inning, and Kate giving up no runs through eight innings. After Kate departed in favor of Hayden for the ninth, the Braves made it interesting, but Hayden got out of trouble, to secure the Good Guys
1-0 victory.
Houston entered Paradise on Monday, for the final series of the homestand. Gil Bellows pitched on Monday, and got hit hard, losing 5-4. Charlize Theron took the mound on Tuesday night. Charlize pitched a really nice game, allowing but two runs in six innings, as the Good Guys hit three homers, in a
4-2 win. Neve Campbell was on the hill, on a sunny, dry, 83 degree Paradise Wednesday, in front of a getaway day sellout. Neve shut out the Astros through eight innings. The game was scoreless in the ninth, when, with two men on, Ed Burns hit a game winning homer, to give the Good Guys a 3-0 shutout win, that completed a five and four homestand.
In the meantime, the team held its Saturday tickle party. The featured lee would be a girl named Kris, who often did some of the Good Guy female players hair on team off days. The petite woman with ample breasts wias tied hands and feet to the bed, in a bra and panties, in the middle of the fetish club. On Thursday night, Mitch was ready to leave on the road trip, and the flight to JFK Airport in New York. "Nice start to the season" Naomi said. "Fuck you!" Mitch replied. "Okay, fine, be in this bad, depressed mood, see if I care. If you want to be that way, go for it, and you know what will happen" Naomi said. "I dont care" Mitch retorted. "I know that, Mitchell, I've always known that, and I will take it under advisement" Naomi said. Mitch picked up his case, and headed out the door, for the team flight to New York.
