The Good Guys embarked on their next road trip. After beginning the trip well, and winning two of three in Washington, they then proceeded to lose two of three in both Philadelphia, and Cincinatti. They returned home, on a Sunday night, to begin a nine game homestand, against the teams they had opened the season with.
While Mitch was away, he had thought he was making progress in regard his situation with Naomi, but, it was not to be. On several occasions during the road trip, after their instant message, and phone conversations had ended, Mitch had thought, and hoped, that the couple was finally moving toward a more stable situation. It was not to be, as Naomi's assessment of their interaction, was that it was "So-So, at best". Now Mitch was beginning to become discouraged. He was beginning to believe that he had to be perfect, or nearly perfect, in what he said, and did, to get Naomi to stop criticizing him. As Mitch sat on the airplane to Nassau on Sunday night, he felt sullen, and downhearted. Usually, he looked forward to ten days at home. This time, even if there weren't any major arguments, he was not at all relishing returning home to the constant criticism.
When Mitch arrived home, Naomi didn't banish him to the guest room. She kissed him, and led him to the bedroom, where they got naked, and made love. They tickled a little bit, but Mitch's mind was a million miles away. Naomi had warned him during one of their instant message conversations that if he "couldnt do it, she would understand, but it would be the end of their marriage". Mitch had no idea what "It" meant, or what standard he was being judged by, but, his emotions were swirling. Although their time together might be reduced by her working in movies, after the couple left the game, Naomi, even when she did do movies, worked only once or twice a year, maybe. Even if she was gone for a month or two at a time, shooting movies, there would be much more time together, and Mitch didnt know what that would bring, or mean for them both.

Kate Hudson, of course, was on the mound. She opposed Pedro Martinez. Pedro allowed only two runs to the Good Guys, but Kate allowed none to the Mets, and the Good Guys prevailed, 2-0, behind a complete game shutout, with nine strikeouts, from Kate. Gil Bellows pitched on Tuesday night. He got hit hard, allowing five runs, as the Good Guys fell, 5-2. Charlize Theron had the ball on Wednesday. She pitched six strong innings, allowing only two runs. With the score tied in the seventh, the roof caved in on the Good Guy bullpen, for four runs, and an eventual 6-2 defeat.
Thursday was an off day. That day, Mitch and Naomi dutifully showed up to counseling. Mitch vented his frustration over his and Naomi's situation: "I told you, Mitchell, I will tell you when you are doing better. You're carrying on, and beating your chest like King Kong, isnt going to get you where you need to be. Unless we are really bad, and I send you to the guest room, you will still get sex, as I need it to, even when we aren't perfect. "You've gotten physical action from me this week, so stop crying about how bad your life is. It's getting old" Naomi said. Mitch left the counesling session, knowing that all marriages had their ups and downs, but, he still believed that there were marriages that were more stable than his and Naomi's was, without the continuing, ongoing criticism.
Atlanta came to town on Friday night. Neve Campbell shut the Braves down, allowing only one run, in a 4-1 victory. Rachel Leigh Cook pitched well on Saturday night, but lost, 2-0. Kate Hudson opposed John Smoltz, on a sunny, dry, 90 degree Sunday, in front of a sellout. Each pitcher gave up a solo homer in the first inning, and then settled down. Smoltz pitched seven innings, fanning nine Good Guys, while Kate pitched into the eighth, whiffing ten Braves. The game was decided in the bottom of the ninth, on a bunt, with the Good Guys winning, 2-1.
Houston entered Paradise on Monday, for the homestand's final series. Gil Bellows pitched on Monday night, and was shut out, 3-0. Charlize Theron took the mound on Tuesday night. She allowed three runs in six innings, but the Good Guys erupted for five seventh inning tallies, and an 8-3 win. Neve Campbell was on the hill, on a sunny, humid, 89 degree Paradise Wednesday afternoon, in front of a sellout. Neve allowed two runs into the eighth inning. With the score tied 2-2 in the eighth, the Good Guys scored twice, and turned things over to Hayden in the ninth, as she brought home the 4-2 Good Guy win, that completed a subpar five and four homestand. Things were far from wonderful. As the team prepared to head to New York the next night, Mitch hoped to avoid any more conflicts.
In the meantime, the team held its Saturday tickle party, following Cook's loss to the Braves. The featured lee would be Allison, a tall, redheaded beautican, who traveled with the team sometimes, to keep the Good Guy female players hair looking good on the road. Allison was tied hands and feet to the bed, in the middle of the fetish club. Center Fielder Ed Burns began the tickle on Allison's neck with fingers, as the beautician began to giggle, and move her head:HEHEHHEHEHEHEHEHEHEE! On Thursday night, Naomi drove Mitch to Nassau International, so that he could catch the team flight to JFK Airport in New York. "Just go with the flow. Play ball, and keep it stable, and we'll see where it goes" Naomi said. Mitch nodded, still feeling unhappy inside, but knowing he could do nothing, at least not now. He kissed her goodbye, and went into the terminal, to catch the plane.
