The Good Guys embarked on their West Coast road trip. They began by winning two of three in San Francisco, before going down the coast, and splitting six games with the Dodgers and Padres, losing two of three as San Diego, and winning two of three in Los Angeles. They returned home, on a Sunday night at midnight, to begin a nine game homestand.
While the team was away on the trip, Mitch and Naomi had several calm conversations on both the computer, and the phone. For the first time in a long time, Mitch was not dreading returning home, as he hoped to get a partner to sleep by, and some physical attention.
When Mitch arrived home on Sunday night, Naomi met him in a short, white nightgown, and led him to the bedroom, where she undressed him, and began kissing him. "I missed you, American, how are you?" Naomi said, through the kiss. "I'm good, Australian, a bit tired, but good, how are you?" Mitch said. " I'm much better now that you're here, and I hope that you're
not too tired to do, you know, I've been waiting ten days" Naomi said. "Nah, Aussie, I'm never too tired for that. Well, not never, but, ah rarely, and as infrequently as we see each other, we need to do that as much as possible when we do" Mitch said. The couple made love, and fell assleep in each other's arms. They both seemed happy that Mitch was home, and it would hopefully lead to a good homestand.
The next night, the Good Guys opened their nine game homestand, with a game against the Washington Nationals. Kate Hudson was on the mound. She allowed but one run, an unearned run, as a result of an error, but pitched a complete game, as the Good Guys hit three homers, and powered to a 5-1 win. Gil Bellows pitched the next night, and got shut out, 2-0. Charlize Theron was not at her best on Wednesday, but the Good Guys scored eight runs, helped by two homers by Mitch, who was in a hot streak, for an 8-4 victory.
Thursday was an off day. That day, Mitch and Naomi had a productive counesling session, and then joined the team for an afternoon at the casino, where they won $500.
The Phillies came to town on Friday night.. Neve Campbell lost a tough 1-0 game that night. Rachel Leigh Cook needed to give the club a good effort on Saturday night, and she did, firing blanks into the eighth inning, and giving up no runs, before running out of gas, in an eventual 4-3 triumph. Kate Hudson had the ball, on a sunny, dry, 83 degree Paradise Sunday, in front of a sellout. Kate dominated the Phillies, pitching shutout ball for eight innings, while striking out twelve. The Good Guys got all the runs they needed in the bottom of the eighth, when Mitch homered with a man on, for a 2-0 Good Guy shutout win.
The Reds entered Paradise on Monday, for the homestand's final series. Gil Bellows pitched a brilliant game on Monday night, allowing but one run in eight innings, as the team got him runs, and Gil got redemption for the previous week's loss, with a 3-1 win. Charlize Theron got hit hard for the second outing in a row on Tuesday night, and this time could not be helped out by her mates, losing a 4-2 game. Neve Campbell took the assignment, on a sunny, moderately humid 85 degree Paradise day, in front of the usual getaway day sellout. The Good Guys played a wild game that day. They built a 10-0 lead off the poor Reds pitching staff, but the game was far from over, as Neve got lit up, allowing seven runs in less than five innings, and departing the game to a chorus of boos. The bullpen didnt fare much better, but finally, the late relief stopped the bleeding, and the Good Guys hung on, for an 11-8 Paradise win, that completed a fine six and three homestand. Relations between Mitch and Naomi were calm, and the team had a solid homestand. As the Good Guys prepared to head for Washington the next night, all was tranquil, at least for the time being.
In the meantime, the team held its Saturday tickle party, following the win over the Phillies. The featured lee would be the catcher Barney's sister, Sarah, who had a real chip on her shoulder, but decided to experience the tickling firsthand. The difficult blonde was tied hands and feet to the bed, in the middle of the fetish club. Second baseman Russell began the tickle on Sarah's neck with fingers, as her head shifted, and the laughter began:HEHEHHEHEHEHHHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEE! Moving down, Center fielder Ed Burns was next, tickling Sarah on her underarms, sides, ribs, and belly with fingers, as she thrashed:HEHEHHEHEHEHHEHEHEHHEHEHEHEHEHHEHEHEHEE! Finally, Mitch positioned himself at Sarah's feet, intending to pay her back for an insulting comment she had said about him years earlier, calling him a "Jerry's kid". Mitch attacked Sarah's feet with his fingers, feathers, and an electric toothbrush over her soles and toes. Sarah went beserk, wiggling her toes every which way, and squealing with laughter:HEHEHEHHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE! OMG PLEASE NO MORE! I GIVE UP! NOOOO! HEHEHEHEHEHHEHEHEHHEHEHEHEHEHEHE! Finally, the tickle ended, and Sarah was untied.
On Thursday night, Naomi drove Mitch to Nassau International, so that he could catch the team flight to Washington. "Good homestand this time, on field, off field, all is well. Have a good trip, and let's try to make it two in a row next time" Naomi said, kissing Mitch goodbye.
