The Good Guys took to the road in a festive mood, following their fine first homestand. The mood was dampened a bit, as they dropped two of three in New York, losing both games in the bottom of the ninth, and then proceeded to lose two of three in Atlanta as well. Finally, they managed to win two of three in Houston. They returned home, on a Sunday night, for a nine game homestand, their second of the year, against the teams from the midwest.

There were some bumps and bruises along the way. The cold weather on the road trip caused Amanda Bynes, Hilary Duff, and Hayden to all experience shoulder stiffness, and resulted in them missing some games, leaving Katherine Heigl as the bullpen's main closer. With Naomi never with the team on road trips, the fear of overwork for Heigl was a reality.

Just before the start of the second homestand, Lee Sniderman and Elmont Koehler called a meeting with the team before the first game with Pittsburgh. "Okay, it's too early in the season for long term injuries, so, Amanda, Hilary, and Hayden, you are all out for the rest of this homestand. We want you to rest your arms. Katie Heigl will be the closer, Naomi will back her up, and we will just have to mix and match, until everyone feels better. Hudson, you need to go nine tonight" Koehler said, to a look from Kate Hudson. Then, Koehler smiled, and said "Just kidding, Katie, try to go seven if you can" That night, Hudson was brilliant as always, allowing but three hits, and a run, and striking out ten. She departed with a 4-1 lead after 110 pitches, and Naomi came in for the eighth. Then, disaster struck. Two errors, a walk, and a Grand Slam homer later, and the Pirates had the lead, and would win the game, 5-4. The clubhouse was deathly quiet after the game, with everyone knowing if the main closers had been healthy, the Good Guys probably would have won the game. That night, when Mitch and Naomi got home, Mitch tried to get Naomi in the mood, to take her mind off the bad game, but the ringing of 30,000 boobirds in her ears stuck with her, and she would have no part of it.

The next night, things did get better, as Gil Bellows scattered five hits, and pitched a complete game, in a 6-2 win. Charlize shut out the Pirates 3-0 on Wednesday, allowing but four base hits, and striking out eleven.

Thursday was an off day. In counesling that day, Naomi put forth her feelings about the state of the team : "At thirty nine years old, it's hard to be counted on so much. Hayden, Duff, and Bynes are out, and Katie Heigl is the only one to help me. I felt terrible for Hudson the other night. She pitched her ass off, and deserved a win. I know that wins and losses are part of the game, but this one really got to me" Naomi said.

Chicago came to town on Friday night. Neve Campbell started. She gave up two runs in eight innings. The Good Guys had a 6-3 lead in the eighth, and Heigl nearly screwed things up again. She gave up two runs, and had the tying run on third, before finally putting out the fire, by a 6-5 score. Rachel Leigh Cook was shut out, 3-0, on Saturday night. Kate Hudson had the ball, on a sunny, dry, 80 degree Paradise day, in front of a sellout, on Sunday afternoon. That day, Hudson had it in her mind to go nine innings, knowing the bullpen was depleted. The offense helped her in that regard, by scoring five runs in the opening inning. Kate never looked back, fanning thirteen Cubs, and prevailing, in a 5-1 decision.

St Louis entered Paradise on Monday, for the homestand's final series. Gil Bellows gave up eleven hits on Monday night, and lost, 4-2. Charlize pitched on Tuesday, and dropped a 5-3 decision, giving up nine base hits. Wednesday's game was scheduled for a 1pm start, but had to be delayed, when a thunderstorm, an unusual occurence for that time of the year, hit just before the national anthem was about to be performed. Lightning, heavy rain, and large claps of thunder came from the sky. Finally, after 90 minutes, the storm departed, and it was about ten degrees cooler. Campbell, who had seen her routine disrupted, went to the mound, and got lit up by the Cards, giving up seven runs in the first two innings. The Good Guys, fortunately, were hitting as well. and climbed back into the game, with a six run fourth inning. The game was tied, 9-9 in the eighth, when Ed Burns hit a homer. Hayden, who was feeling better, and wanted to test her arm before the upcoming road trip, blew the Cards away in the ninth, and the Good Guys had a 10-9 win, that completed a five and four homestand. While five and four was never what the team strived for, things could have been much, much worse with half their bullpen out for ten days. Now, with their team at full strength as they headed to Pittsburgh, hopefully things would look up.

In the meantime, the team held its Saturday tickle party, following the loss to the Cubs. The main featured lee would be Hayden, whom the team felt needed to be punished, for putting the bullpen into a quandry with her arm injury. Hayden was tied hands and feet to the bed, in a bra and panties, in the middle of the fetish club. Pitcher Gil Bellows began the tickle on Hayden's neck with fingers, as her head shifted, and the giggles began:HEHEHHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHHEHEHEHEHEEHE! Working down, Kate Hudson was next, attacking Hayden on her underarms, sides, ribs, and belly with fingers, as she thrashed:HEHEHHEHEHEHEHEHHEHEHEHHHHEHEHEHEHEHEHE! Moving down, Naomi was the next ler, tickling Hayden on her hips, inner thighs, and knees with fingers, as her legs bucked:HEHEHEHEHEHHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEEE! Finally, Mitch and Katherine Heigl positioned themselves at Hayden's bare feet, and tickled them with fingers, feathers, and electric toothbrushes. Hayden went beserk, wiggling her toes and squealing with laughter:HEHHHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHHEHEHEHEHEHEHHEHEHEHHHEHEHEEEEE! OMG PLEASE NO MORE! I GIVE UP! NOOOOOO! HEHEHEHEHEHHEHEHEHEHEHEHEE! Finally, the tickle ended, and Hayden was untied.

On Thursday night, Naomi drove Mitch to Nassau International, so that he could catch the team flight to Pittsburgh "We had a tough homestand on field, but at least we arent fighting. We got through it. Now go off, play well, and I'll see you next Sunday" Naomi said, kissing him goodbye.

So, it had been a rocky homestand. Now came a ten day road trip. What would happen next? That answer to come in the continuing story of the Tickle Team From Paradise Island.

The End

It is a rare occurrence that Mitch and Naomi aren't fighting but the Good Guys are down. It is understandable in light of the pitching but a setback from last homestand nonetheless. Another great one and I look forward to the next one.

HappyD

Thank you, happy, your praise is appreciated as always. Yes, Mitch and Naomi getting along is an unusual event. The pitching is in a bit of disarray, but hopefully it will recover soon.

As you know, stay tuned, there will be more to come soon.

Mitch
