TMF radio relies on the listeners and those that download the podcast, so we want to know any ideas you guys have for segments.
Let us know!

It's not likely to be something we could pull off before NEST. But, I think a show where all the couples talked about how they met in the community would be a good idea. It might help give hope to those who are still looking. One of those "It IS possible!" pep talks. Of course, we'd have to include some talk about how nice it is to have a live-in ler/lee as well. I hope that wouldn't feel like we were rubbing it in.
What kind of software and equipment is necessary to do a podcast anyway?

We used a cell phone with a speaker, and the laptop with the
radio chat. Worked great, but it's really helpful to have two people,
one to be aware of the callers and what's being said in the chat,
one to make sure that the phone is in a good position, and that
the conversation goes well.

Thanks, Ryan.
And Ann, that is an awesome idea. I'd like to have multiple couples involved but that might be difficult with the show being recorded via phone and everyone all over the country, but there is the call-in feature for listeners, so perhaps if you and Drew were willing to host it, other couples could call in and share their story?

Ann, I am planning on hosting bi-weekly interviews with members of the forum and community in general that are prolific, important, or just plain interesting in my segment entitled "Tickle Chat with Chaneda."
Your idea is so wonderful that I would be honored if you and Drew would agree to a TMF-Radio chat with me to discuss TK couples. This IS a major topic and one that has many people on this forum begging the question, "How can I meet someone into tickling too?"
Please let me know either in here or via a PM of you and Drew would be able to be my guests for a 30 to 60 minute segment of my show.
Thanks! :)

Hi Goth,
While I agree it would be fun we cannot currently do video casts...the service TMF-Radio is currently using is audio only. Thanks for the idea though.

We'll have to see what's happening after NEST is over. I know for sure we'll be busy until then. What we do after will depend on what happens when. There's lots happening in May and June. So, I couldn't set anything up until we get our own schedule figured out. I'd only try to host our own if we could get some other couples lined up and ready to call in....or be here with us. Otherwise, we might just figure out a date with Chaneda and call his show.
One of the things we might be doing this summer is hosting a small couples get together. If that comes off, it would be an ideal time to do a show since everyone would be right here. We'll let you know when we figure out the schedule.
Something to think about, at least.

Alternately, people could probably also use Skype (a phone over internet program) to dial into the show. If it were one person, a headset would make managing the whole thing easier as it would all be through the computer, and for more than one person the internal mic on a laptop would probably be sufficient. Skype is incredibly inexpensive for computer to telephone calls, in case people want to save on their cell phone bill.
If anyone actually wants to try this, I'd be glad to help them figure it out.

Skype is dead easy. Just download it from skype.com, set up an account, buy some credit with your credit card and you are in business. It works best on recent computers, say the last couple of years or so. My rate from Japan to phones in the us is about 2 cents a minute.

One idea - although this may get covered in the upcoming "girltalk" - would be some safety guidlines on meeting someone outside of NEST and other organised gatherings. It might sound like stating the obvious, but sometimes people can be a bit to eager to meet up for a tickle session - or whatever - and can end up having a nasty experience. I know it can be pointed out in posts, but there's nothing like hearing it live, or recorded if like me it means getting up at 4am or thereabouts.

I thought Skype was a free program that allowed you to talk to other Skype-enabled computers/systems for free. I understand you had to be charged if calling someone who wasn't also using Skype, but I think the FAQs on TMF Radio indicated using Skype as a free alternative to calling long-distance.
While I check on it, anybody know the answer to this?
If you use skype to call a phone number, you will need to put credit on your skype account with a credit card.
This includes the TMF Radio call-in number.
There is a feature on blogtalkradio that allows you to call in using a computer microphone. On the profile page there should be a button that says "Call in now" and you'll have an option of typing in a name and then you're put in a queue until your call is up.
You need internet explorer version 6.0 or better to use this function and I have yet to figure it out.
AnnieHall
04-10-2008, 03:32 PM
Ah, so I need to use Internet Explorer first of all. That helps, since I'm using MSN by default. What's the profile page by the by? I'll try this next time something airs. Either way, I take it a host has no choice but to use a phone.
If you DO figure out how to make this work, be a dear and let me know because I doubt my dumb ass can figure it out without help.
Hosts need to call in via phone, unless they're using Skype.
Skype is only free when talking via microphone to another Skype user.
The TMF Radio profile page is in my signature.

Something I've noticed a lot of you doing is referring to things that you see in the chatroom. I think it's cool to be interacting with the chatroom, I just suggest that you read out loud whatever you're referring to, because nobody listening to the podcast archive has access to the chat text.

In the thread you post with the link to the archive of the show, you should include all the links to the threads you talked about in the show that day, so people can follow along, and participate in the things you're interested in.

We should have a TMF radio page. It could have pictures and bios of the DJs, and descriptions of shows, and maybe an FAQ with How-To information.
If you guys can come up with one, I'll put a link to it in the sidebar menu, and other appropriate places around the forum.

Hi Jeff. I considered making a full fledged TMF Radio website using iWeb...I would just need someplace to upload the site and a way to keep updating it. Does the TMF have any extra room to host the TMF Radio site? Or should we try to keep this on a separate server host?

I can set up the page easily but I need a host server for the page.
Two options:
1) The TMF hosts it...or
2) TMF Radio buys space on an online server for TMF Radio's page. The money for this space would be provided by selling ad time on TMF Radio shows and/or by contributions from the wonderful members of this forum.
I can do it and would gladly make it my task to set up the page and run/update it. All I need is a server to host it.

Yes. It would also include our casts in Streaming archives stored on the site so that you could listen to our old shows from the TMF Radio site and not BlogTalkRadio...BTR WOULD remain our LIVE site though and our TMFR chat room.

That depends where we host it. If, for example, I use .Mac (which would be the easiest choice for me) the server fees for 10 GBs (which we'd NEVER fill up would be $99 per year. There are less expensive options, but it's dependable and EASY for me to use.
Selling ad-space would pay for the server space quickly.
I'm open to other options.

Don't forget the extra cost of a domain name. They range from ~$10 to ~$30 nowadays per year. So to get tmfradio.com will be an extra cost.
What could potentially hit you is bandwidth. Apple specifies limits on this page (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303786). You're looking at the 10 GB plan so you'd have 100 GB of bandwidth per month. Note that there is also one other (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.5/en/gen26.html) limitation there:
If you're close to exceeding your monthly data transfer limit, you'll receive a message from the .Mac team. You can use up to half of your monthly quota during the first 15 days of a month. If you exceed your data transfer limit, any website, blog, or podcast associated with your .Mac account is turned off and service will not be reinstated until the 1st or 16th of the month (Pacific Standard Time), whichever comes first.
I have some hosting that I use as backup if my site goes down but otherwise lies dormant with these folks (http://www.surpasshosting.com). It has 200 GB of space and 2000 GB of bandwidth, although being shared hosting I imagine if you used 2 TB of bandwidth you would get kicked off for abuse. If you wanted to try it on my space you can use it for nothing. I pay for it anyway so may as well be used. If it worked out that it was enough then you'd have a home. If it was found you used so much in the way of resources (bandwidth or CPU/Memory) that it got disabled then we'd know .Mac would probably not be enough and no money would have been wasted on it. Another upside is that, being a cPanel environment, anybody can get an email address with the domain you purchase. Say one for each show, like "robaceradio@tmfradio.com". I think .Mac limits you to @mac.com email addresses, even if you purchase a domain.
So that's out there if you want to try it. :)

Of course I am on board, but I do wonder if we will get a look at the site somehow before it goes all the way on...as in us DJ's.
Would we get to write our bios and whatnot's?
I just want to make sure things are smooth. This seems to be growing rapidly with a listener base and such, next will be advertising. Things should look as good as they do here in the Main Forum. Also I do not want to ever branch off from the forum. I only demean and embarrass myself to entertain our members and listening audience. Now I wouldn't mind others listening in, but I never want what I do to take away from the forum, and also to ensure ANY revenue I/we generate (I hope others would agree with me) would be split evenly with the Fourm. (ie Jeff)
I am working on a few other things that I will need to talk with a few of you about....expect a call/PM or something this evening after 9pm EDT.

.com was taken in 2006, so that seemed like the best choice.
It's already directed to the TMF servers.
It needs 24-38 hours to propagate to the servers and input to make it work.
I agree with Rob that the Hosts need to be in charge of their photos
and Bios, and that we definitely need a competent administrator to
make it happen well.
Perhaps each host/show even has their own page (once a suitable
catalogue of shows has been reached - not a one or two off) and
the main page has links to all that it offers.

I agree with Rob, as well. I don't want anything to get messy.. We've been blessed with such a supportive audience that I wouldn't want us to clusterfuck it for them.

I think this is a great idea. As long as we can continue to keep the topics fresh and the shows interesting and troll free, there should be plenty of demand. Just off the top of my head, I can think of several topics that can be discussed. And there are folks around who can speak with some authority on each of them...perhaps as guests on a regular show.
Among the many potential topics...
guidelines for safely meeting other tk lovers
why we have gatherings and munches
sexual vs non-sexual tk play
bondage vs non-bondage in play
pre-care and aftercare for enhancing scenes
crossing over - BDSM and tickling
roleplay vs freestyle play
roots - discussion of community history
meeting that special somone - a couples night
video company profiles with Q&A
site host, writer & artist spotlight segments
And that's just for starters!
As far as formatting the site, if you had a page each for the regular shows and then an additional page for details on those one time hits, it should be fairly easy to keep things neat and organized. Keywords (in addition to those already listed on the show description) can always be added to boost search capabilities if someone hears something on a show and can't recall which one. The possibilities are endless.
I agree with what Jeff quoted on the show the other night. This may be one of the most important things for the community since the TMF itself began. It's likely to be a big step in getting folks (who want to be) exposed to more personal contact and learning about the experiences of others in the community. It's just one more way for folks to realize that they are neither alone nor strange.
Three cheers for TMFRadio! :bouncybou

I've been getting a lot of feedback about not being able to catch a show in time and such forth..

Does it hold enough merit to be played into as a possible idea?

Added a "TMF Radio" calendar and removed the junk ones from view. Mods/Admins can add events. Events appear at the bottom of the TMF, beneath Birthdays. Amnesiac's is now being plugged. Unfortunately there isn't a way to tell it to specify the time for an event that happens only once; for weekly/monthly events I think you can specify time. I've put times in the title for now. Note that members can set reminders for themselves for specific events through the TMF. Adding upcoming shows on a "one-time" (not recurring) basis ...

Not sure what to do about ones like the Venrays on at midnight ... for now I'm adding the event on the day before and the day of (as it will likely be useful to have it showing the day before). Once you guys get a set schedule with times we can add those shows recurring. Note that this things continued existence depends on the Jeffman/Myriads not objecting to it. I may be able to mess with crud but I've no say on whether said crud stays or goes. :D
If members want to add a reminder for themselves all they have to do is click the event in the calendar and then click the "Request Reminder for this Event" link.
EDIT: Ah, there is a way of setting times! I'll change all events to ranged ones (e.g. occur within a time span) and add up to the Live @ NEST show.

Sometimes the times we want to broadcast are not

Sundays - No broadcast due to trivia (at the moment) Someone MIGHT
be able to do a 10-11pm show.
Mondays - not yet taken, stay tuned for exciting announcements!
Tuesday - Venray & Venraya - 11pm-12am
Wednesday - Alchemy - 11pm-12am
Thursday - Lee & Amanda - 11pm-12am
Friday - Mairead & CrystalLight - 11pm-12am
Saturday - Rob - 11pm-12:30am

Hmm ... if I set it recurring it won't allow changes to any one showing without altering all of the others. This is a bother. I'll just try to keep up with the release schedule on BTR and add them as I see them there, then. If any host has a show they want put in before it shows up on BTR's listing/has a change to make to one already up let me know in a PM or something and I'll get to it. I don't know if this will be of any use or not but it's worth trying since the calendar is built-in anyway.

How bout workin out a time slot with me lol
Seriously..I have an idea, and would be a nice way to get involved in the community (which i havent really done much of in the 7 and a half yrs ive been around this place). I could do a show where all TMF members can feel free to call in and tell it like it is.
Callers can even feel free to remain anonymous if they'd like. But the point would be to call up and discuss any aspects of tickling they like...can feel free to admit and talk about their sexual related love for tickling as a fetish and just a no holds barred kinda thing, no TMF popularity favoring, just everyone as one as they'd like it.
I judge no one by their desires and likes and will listen to and discuss ANY aspect of the fetish, can share indepth stories, discuss issues/get advice for probs they may be having in relationships regarding their tickle fetish, etc. And all feeling at ease doing it with your tell it like it is host :)
Also, callers could feel free to voice issues they have with aspects within the world wide community if they'd like that otherwise may be afraid or feel weird about talking about normaly in text on any forum.
Id have to think of a new screen name or something if the powers that be would be interested in going for this, cause dskodj would fit a music show more than a talk show lol.
I honestly think I could reach out to the community here and add something a little different to the tmf talk radio repitor. It would be informitive, comforting and controversal all in one.
So what yas folks think?

I have a complaint/gripe/personal irritant that I would like to address!! Ok, maybe not a complaint, but I do have a question, and maybe a little bit of a request.
I don't know if it's come up before, but I'd like to know why all the shows are at 11 P.M. Since I have work at midnight, I have to leave at exactly 11 every night, thus making it impossible to listen in to live shows, except on Saturday's, and Sunday trivia.
Keep in mind, I don't expect anyone to change time slots. I'm just wondering why 11, and not 10 or something. Is there a particular reason? Perhaps you all would be open to mixing up the times a little bit, since I know several members have similar problems with the timing issues.
Thanks for your response.

Shows are at 11 because the only times available for us
is 6pm or earlier, or 11pm.
And it doesn't matter if we hold those shows on our personal
accounts or on the TMF account, that's the time slots we're
shown as open.
Trust us, we'd have shows on earlier if we could.

We are classified as adult content shows which are only allowed on blogTalk after 11 pm .
We could do shows with no foul language or any mature audience topic before 11 pm , but it would kinda defeat our purpose....

Actually, even when scheduling a show for everyone, with a g-rated topic, more than a week out, there are no shows other than 6, 11 or 11:30pm.

Mmkay. Thanks guys. :)
Since the subject of NEST came up, it might be fun to have a show discussing what newbies to the gathering should expect. You know, other than the basic common sense of keeping yourself good and respectful. I probably worded that horribly, but hopefully you know what I mean.

If you check the archives around the time of last NEST, (Early May, late April)
Brighteyes and LeeAllure did a bunch of shows for NEST Newbians and also some other hosts did as well. :)
We normally do that once the gathering gets closer.

Oh, cool. Thanks for that, Crystal. I was actually going to suggest holding something like that shortly before NEST, but it sounds like you have that all covered. Carry on. :D

Have a radio show at 9PM.

They only have a few times they can have shows. Adult shows must be on later, I believe, and the only two options they have are before 6 PM or after 11 PM. Prime-time is likely reserved for folks who pay BlogTalkRadio lots of money. :D

This may have been suggested before, but how about reviving the lost art of the radio play? I don't mean on-air tickling, as then it's just a bunch of noise-laughter -- but an actual story, acted out, narrated, with different voices doing the dialogue. And, of course, they'd be tickling stories. You could even rework some of the stories already in the archives. I'd be happy to contribute something myself in play format if asked.

That's not a bad idea.
I mean, it all depends on the dynamics of the co-hosts and their own personal ability to pull that off.
Amnesiac does stellar voices. But he's on a haitus because of school.

Something along the lines of old time radio would be great if the people doing it could overcome the logistics of a script and some real time practice. And Amnesiac, Crystal, and Raya have very distinctive voices. So does Aura and Slacker. It just might work!

I should think the most difficult bit would be the laughing; unless two actors are in the same place to enhance the script, that would have to be "genuinely faked." :)
