The Good Guys embarked on their next road trip. It did not go well. They went three and six, losing two of three games at each stop of a Washington, Philadelphia, and Cincinatti road trip. They limped home, on a Sunday night, to begin a nine game homestand, against the teams they had started the season with.
When Mitch arrived home on Sunday night, he was physically and emotionally spent from a long and poor road trip. Luckily, he was able to quickly rejuvinate himself with a good dinner at a fine resturant, recreation time at the casino, and peace and quiet.
The Good Guys arrived at the ballpark the next night with a bounce in their steps. They were opening their nine game homestand against their favorite opponents to beat, the Mets. Kate Hudson opposed the Mets Johan Santana in the opening game of the three game series. Kate gave up a first inning run, and then settled down, while the Good Guys got to Santana for four runs in six innings. Hudson pitched eight solid innings, with nine strikeouts, against the rugged Met lineup. Hayden relieved Kate in the ninth, and picked up the save, as the Good Guys won, 4-1. Gil Bellows pitched the next night. He, too, allowed but one run, in his six innings of work. The game was tied, 1-1 in the eighth, before the Good Guys exploded for four runs in the bottom of the eighth, to wing their way to a 5-2 victory. Charlize Theron opposed the Mets on Wednesday night. Charlize, too, pitched a fine game, giving up only two runs in seven innings. The Good Guys trailed the Mets John Maine, going into the bottom of the eighth inning, before rallying for three runs. Hayden made the lead stand up in the ninth, and the Good Guys completed a rare three game sweep of the Mets, with a 4-2 triumph.
Thursday was an off day. That day, in counesling, Mitch and Naomi really didnt have many issues to report. "Things seem calm between us. We just swept the Mets, which you know makes me very happy. Hopefully, this quiet period will last for a while." Mitch said to the therapist
Atlanta came to town on Friday night. Neve Campbell was the starter. She allowed three runs in six innings, but the Braves starter was better, and the Good Guys fell, 3-2. Rachel Leigh Cook got blasted on Saturday night, losing 5-0. Kate Hudson had the ball, on a sunny, dry, 85 degree Sunday, in front of a sellout. The Braves pitcher that day would not be her usual mound opponent John Smoltz, but rather Braves co ace Tim Hudson, who was no relation to Kate, as Smoltz was sidelined with an arm problem. The Braves scored two runs off Kate in the top of the first, and then the Good Guys answered with two of their own in the bottom of the first. From there, the game was a pitching duel between the two righthanders. Tim departed after the seventh inning, and in the eighth, the Good Guys scored two runs off the Atlanta bullpen. Hayden made things interesting in the ninth, but escaped trouble, as the Good Guys beat the "Other" Hudson, with a 4-2 decision.
Houston entered Paradise on Monday night, for the homestand's final series. Gil Bellows pitched the Monday game, and allowed four runs in six innings. Paradise tried to rally, but it was enough to beat Gil, 4-3. Charlize Theron took the ball on Tuesday night. Charlize gave a "quality start", allowing three runs in six innings. Paradise broke a 3-3 tie with an eighth inning run, and their bullpen hung on, to turn the tides on the Astros, with a
4-3 win. Neve Campbell took the mound, on a sunny, somewhat humid, 87 degree day, on Wednesday afternoon, in front of a sellout. Neve allowed only one run in six innings, as the Good Guys broke a 1-1 tie in that inning with three runs. Once again it got interesting in the ninth, but Hayden saved the day, after giving up a run, and the Good Guys had a 4-2 win, that completed a six and three homestand. The three game sweep of the Mets had been the homestand's high point. Now, as the team prepared to fly to New York the following evening, they were playing well.
In the meantime, the team held its Saturday tickle party, following the loss to the Braves. The featured lee would be the attractive female manager of the team's goods store at the stadium. The pretty manager was tied hands and feet to the bed, in the middle of the fetish club. Pitcher Gil Bellows began the tickle on her neck with fingers, as her head shifted, and the giggles began:HEHEHEHHEHEHEHEHHEHEHEHEHEHEHE! Finally, Mitch postioned himself at the manager's feet, and tickled them with his fingers, feathers, and an electric toothbrush, over her soft soles and toes. The manager went beserk,,wiggling her toes every which way, and squealing with laughter. HEHEHEHEHEHEHHEHEHEEHEHEHEHEHEHEE! OMG PLEASE NO MORE! MY FEET ARE SO TICKLISH! NOOOOOO! On Thursday night, Naomi drove Mitch to Nassau International, so that he could catch the team flight to JFK Airport in New York City. "Good homestand this time, especially against the Mets. Go off, play well, and I will see you a week from Sunday" Naomi said, kissing him goodbye.
