The Good Guys embarked on their next road trip. It turned out to be a productive, and winning trip. They won two out of three games from both Pittsburgh, and Chicago, before losing two of three games in St Louis. They returned home, on a Sunday night, to begin a nine game homestand, against the teams from California.
While Mitch was away on the trip, his relationship with Naomi did a complete 360 turn for the better. The couple had several heart to heart talks on the computer and the phone, and, for the first time in a long time, appeared to make meaningful progress. Mitch hoped that this communication would lead to a productive homestand.
When Mitch arrived home on Sunday night, Naomi was waiting for him. "Come into the shower with me. I have a nice evening planned for us tonight". Mitch and Naomi took off their clothes, and went into the shower. Once there, and wet, the couple began making out. "How can we love each other so much, and fight like cats and dogs as we do?" Charlize Theron pitched on Tuesday night. Mitch hit an early homer, and gave the Good Guys a nice size lead. Theron tired in the seventh, and a 5-0 lead, became 5-1, and then 5-2., and finally 5-3, before Kate came on for another save, and finished off the 5-3 victory. Neve Campbell took the ball on Wednesday night. Neve allowed three runs in six innings. The game was tied, 3-3 in the eighth, before a bunt play brought home the go ahead run. Hudson made another appearance in the ninth, gaining her third save in a row, in a 4-3 Good Guy triumph, to complete the sweep.
Thursday was an off day. That day, the couple arrived at counesling, in chipper moods. "We are having a good week. We had some heart to heart talks while he was away, and seemed to have settled some things" Naomi said. "I'm happy for both of you. It's comforting to see progress, after so much time of seemingly none" The therapist said.
San Diego came to town on Friday night. Rachel Leigh Cook started. She made one bad pitch, a first inning Grand Slam homer, which was all the Padres needed, to come away with a 4-1 win. Hayden had the ball on Saturday night. She got hit hard, allowing four runs in six innings. The Good Guys pullled off a good comeback, erupting for four seventh inning runs to tie the game in that inning, and scoring one in the eighth for the lead. Hudson came through in the ninth, and the Good Guys had a 5-4 victory. Gil Bellows opposed Jake Peavy, on a sunny, somewhat humid, 85 degree Sunday, in front of a sellout. Both pitchers gave up solo homers, and then nothing else. Peavy pitched eight innings of one run ball, with nine strikeouts, and Gill seven innings of one run ball, with ten punchouts. The game went to the tenth tied, when Ed Burns sent the sellout crowd home happy, by hitting a solo homer, for a 2-1, ten inning, Good Guys win.
The Dodgers entered Paradise on Monday, for the final series of the homestand. Charlize Theron had the starting assignment on Monday night. She gave up three homers, and four runs, before leaving, and was the losing pitcher, in a 4-2 Good Guys defeat. Neve Campbell was on the hill on Tuesday night. Neve pitched very well with five days rest, giving up but one run, and striking out ten. The Good Guys broke a 1-1 tie in the eighth, with five runs, and walked away with a 6-1 win. Rachel Leigh Cook had the ball on Wednesday afternoon, a sunny, moderately humid, 90 degree getaway day, in front of a sellout. Cook gave up three solo homers, but the Good Guys rallied from the 3-0 deficit in the sixth, to score five runs. From there, the bullpen took over, and the team scored another run in the eighth, before Kate came on to save the day, in a 6-3 Good Guys win, that completed a wonderful seven and two homestand. The team had looked very sharp through almost all of that week, and had improved their position in the standings, after having sleepwalked through much of the season to that point. Now, as they prepared to board a plane to California the next day, all was looking up.

The featured lee would be CNN Headline News blonde cutie Susan Hendricks, in town that week for mostly a vacation, but also to do a story about the baseball team from the island, who was into tickling.
