The regular season was now complete, and the Good Guys embarked on their annual October mission. Mitch would play in the playoffs, through the pain, and rest for six months afterward.
The National League Division Series opened in Paradise on a Tuesday, against the Phillies. Gil Bellows was the starter. The Good Guys scored two early runs, and Bellows allowed but one run in his six innings of work. The bullpen came in, and Naomi, Amanda Bynes, Hillary Duff, and finally Kate Hudson, shut the Phillies out the rest of the way, for a 2-1 opening game win. The teams took Thursday off, and traveled to Philadelphia for Game Three on Friday night. Neve Campbell was on the mound, and the Phillies were ready for her, blasting her for five runs by the third inning, as the Good Guys could not recover, and dropped a 5-2 decision. Gil Bellows opposed Phillies ace Cole Hamels in Game Four on Saturday night, in a rematch of the Game One starters. Hamels gave up an early two run homer, and then yielded another run in the sixth. In the meantime, Bellows allowed one solo homer to Phils slugger Ryan Howard, and that was all. Kate Hudson came in for the ninth, leading 3-1, and gave up a run, but managed to put the Phillies away, for the 3-2 Good Guys win, that eliminated the Phillies, and sent the Good Guys to the National League Championship Series, against the Mets, beginning on Tuesday night in Paradise.
