The Good Guys embarked on their next road trip to California. It did not go well, as they went only three and six. They lost two of three games at each stop of a San Francisco, San Diego, and Los Angeles road trip. They returned home, on a Sunday night, for what would be their last regular season homestand of the year.

Mitch and Naomi's battles continued throughout the Good Guys road trip to California, and right up until his return home, that Sunday at midnight. Nornally, the team would be on cruise control until the playoffs, but the Good Guys awful September to that point, put the team in a tenuious position. They would need to have a very good homestand against a good Phillies team, and weaker but still dangerous Nationals and Reds teams, to have a happy ending and propel themselves into the playoffs.

Before the team took the field on Monday night for the game against the Nationals, manager Koehler and GM Sniderman, normally not ones for pep talks, spoke to their team. "We are still in first place. Things havent gone as we would have hoped the last three weeks, but that has to be put behind us. We are in our house now, with our fans, and have the chance to win it for ourselves. We just have to go out, and play our kind of ball. If we do that, in nine days from now, we will have something to celebrate. Now go out there, Ladies and Gentlemen, and play like you can. We're all behind you 100%" Koehler said to his team. There remained many possibilites for the Good Guys. They could win the division outright, win the wild card, or end up winning nothing, and going home. Although they would have home field advantage in the World Series if they made it that far, Koelher really wanted his team to come up big, and win the division, because, he wanted home field in the earlier rounds as well, to make things easier on everyone.

That night, the team took the field for the game against the Nationals, with Gil Bellows on the hill, and a supportive sellout crowd in the stands. After Bellows got the Nats out in the first, the first two Good Guys reached base, and then Mitch came up, and smashed a long homer to center field, that calmed everyone's nerves. From there, Bellows cruised, to a five hit shutout, as the Good Guys got two more runs, for a 5-0 win. In the clubhouse, the team was reserved. "Good game, but we need many more, to win this thing" Koehler said. Charlize Theron pitched on Tuesday night. The Good Guys hit four solo homers, and Charlize allowed two hits in eight innings, and brought home a 4-1 victory. Neve Campbell took the ball on Wednesday night. Two Good Guy errors cost her, as she allowed but three runs, but the Good Guys could score but one, and fell, 3-1. Two out of three wasnt bad, but the Mets and Phillies were still winning games, so Paradise needed to keep winning, to emerge as division title winners.

Thursday was an off day. In addition to the team's problems, Mitch and Naomi were having problems of their own. They had several battles on the computer during the previous road trip, and were not sleeping together. Naomi had it over Mitch's head that while she still loved him, she also had serious thoughts of leaving him at the end of the season, because she felt they could not go on as they had. "I dont want to leave you, Mitchell. I still love you, and have for over two decades. I know that the team is going through a hard time right now, and that everyone is distracted with wanting to get to the playoffs. You need to think about me, and us. We will have our play time, and hopefully our October, and God willing, our championship, but you need to think about what comes after that. I dont want it to be a long, lonely winter without you" Naomi said. Mitch and Naomi did meet up with Cathy for play time that evening, but everyone's nerves were frayed.

The Phillies came to town on Friday night. Rachel Leigh Cook was the starter, with Philly still in the division hunt. The Philles dealt the Good Guys a blow with a 3-0 Philly win that night. The next night, Hayden pitched one of her best games as a Good Guy, allowing but two hits, and one run, over eight innings. The Good Guys led, 2-1, and Kate Hudson had to get out of a jam in the ninth, for the save. Paradise now had a one game lead over the Mets, and two games over the Phillies, with four games left. One more loss, and the Phillies would be finished. Sunday was the Good Guys most important game of the season thus far. Gil Bellows pitched, and allowed three solo homers. Paradise tried to fight back, and fell short, losing 3-2. The Mets also won on that Sunday, so now the division had the Mets and Good Guys tied, with the Phillies a game back. Paradise needed to really sweep the Reds, to win the division. The Mets were at home playing Washington, and the Phillies would play the Braves in Philadelphia, in a wild finish to the division race.

The Reds entered Paradise on Monday, for the final three regular season games. Charlize pitched on Monday, and allowed but two runs. The game in Philadelphia was tied in the eighth inning, until the Braves came up with a run. The ninth inning went on there, until the big "F" was posted on the scoreboard. The Braves had beaten the Phillies, 2-1. In the meantime, the Good Guys broke a 2-2 tie in Paradise with three eighth inning runs. Kate made it interesting in the ninth, but got out of the jam, for a 5-3 win. The Mets also won, so the teams were still tied, with Philly less of a threat now, at two games back. Neve Campbell took the ball on Tuesday night. She kept the team in the game, allowing three runs. The game was tied, 3-3, before the Good Guys again scored an eighth inning run. In New York, the Mets had a 2-1 lead, so it looked like the division would come down to the final day. Then, lightning struck. Nationals infielder Ryan Zimmerman hit a long two run homer off Mets closer Billy Wagner, to silence a sellout Shea Stadium crowd. When the score was posted in Paradise, everyone was hopeful. Nationals closer Chad Codero set down the Mets in the ninth. Kate Hudson had some problems in the ninth in Paradise, but set down the Reds. Now the Good Guys had a one game lead, and had clinched a tie. Paradise now controlled their own destiny. Win on Wednesday, and go to the playoffs. Lose, and if the Mets won, play a one game playoff, on Thursday. Rachel Leigh Cook would have a very short rope on Wednesday afternoon. Things did not start well, as she allowed two first inning runs. Paradise, however, was focused, scoring five runs in the bottom of the first inning, to take the lead. From there, Cook settled down, and pitched six innings. The Mets were clinging to life, with a one run lead over Washington. Inning after inning went by. Cook left after six. Naomi pitched the seventh, and Amanda Bynes the eighth, both allowing a run. Kate Hudson came out of the bullpen in the ninth, with Paradise holding a tenuous 5-4 lead. At Shea, the Mets were still winning. Kate got the first out. At the same time, the Mets, who had started five minutes after the Good Guys, posted the "F". New York had won, 3-2. If Kate did not get two more outs, a one game playoff would happen. Kate got the next out, a ground ball. Now a home run hitter was up. Kate threw, and a long fly ball was hit. The crowd held its breath, but Mitch tracked it, and put it in his glove. The game was over, the Good Guys were division champions, and were going to the playoffs! When the crowd saw Mitch had the ball, they erupted into a collective roar, as the team celebrated on the field. It was far from the goal they wanted, but they were happy to be this far.

When the team got to the clubhouse, they spoke to the media. "Whew, this isnt how I wanted to win it, blowing a seven game division lead with three weeks left, but here we are, and now we can exhale, and focus on the playoffs" Mitch said. The playoffs would begin on that Tuesday in Paradise, against the Cubs.

That night, after the win, the team held a tickle party to unwind. The featured lee would be one of the Good Guys male broadcasters. He was tied hands and feet to the bed, in the middle of the fetish club, as he was surrounded by the Good Guys female pitchers. Naomi began the tickle on the broadcaster's neck with fingers, as his head shifted, and the laughter began:HAHHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Working down, Kate Hudson was next, tickling the broadcaster on his underarms, sides, and belly with fingers, as he howled:AHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHHAAA! Moving down, Neve Campbell was the next ler, attacking the broadcaster on his hips, inner thighs, and knees, causing his legs to buck:HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Finally, Hayden and Hillary Duff positioned themselves at the broadcaster's feet, and tickled them with fingers, feathers, and toothbrushes. The broadcaster went ballistic. He wiggled his feet, and begged for mercy:HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAA! OMG TWO AT ONCE IS INTENSE! I GIVE UP! NO MORE! STAHPPPPPPPPP! HHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAA! Finally the tickle ended, and the broadcaster was untied.

So, the team was back in the playoffs again, by the skin of their teeth. Now came the ride of October. Would the ride end happily? That answer to come next time in the continuing story of the Tickle Team From Paradise Island.

The End

Well that was a very close finish for the Good Guys. I wasn't sure they were going to make it the way they had been playing up to that point. But this fan is impressed with their effort to make it to the playoffs. Another great one and I look forward to the next one.

HappyD

Thank you, happy, your praise is appreciated as always. Yes, the team had gone through a long dry spell before finally making it. Hopefully they will play better in October.

As you know, stay tuned, there will be more to come soon.

Mitch
