Marco Polo and his family had been traveling in the orient to trade their goods. They found a small town in Cathay and settled and built up a very profitable trade.
Young Marco decided he wanted to explore Cathay a bit more so he went out toward the city of the Great Khan. Kublai Khan came from Mongolia and conquered a fair portion of Cathay. He was the ruler of the "Shing'tao" province, where Marco was traveling through. Marco was met by Khan's solders who stopped him, wanting to know where he was going. Curious, Marco told them that he had heard about the many conquests of Khan and wanted to meet him. the solders escorted him to the royal court of the Great Khan. As they entered the City, one solder whispered to Maro, "You have come at a very good time. There will be a criminal punished today for crimes against Khan." The other solder laughed."I heard this criminal was very ticklish and will provide good entertainment as he is punished."
Marco had never heard about tickling or being ticklish so he was eager to find out what this was all about. The men rode into the town square and got down from their horses. They went to the Royal Court. Khan was sitting there on an over sized chair, talking to his advisor's when the solders approached him and told them of the young Polo.
Marco approached Khan and began telling him about his family and their trading business. Khan took an immediate liking to Polo and bid him to sit down next to him. "We are going to have a criminal punished today as his sentence has now come up. We have almost interesting way of punishing our criminals." said Khan. Marco nodded. "Yes the solders said something about tickling. What is tickling? I am not familiar with this form of punishment."
Khan smiled. Khan was very "familiar" with tickling, being extremely ticklish himself. He loved watching the punishments as they always aroused his sensitivity. "You do not know anything of ticklish or being ticklish?" asked Khan. Polo shook his head. "No " Khan smiled . "Then watch and learn!"
The prisoner was brought out in a horse drawn cart, tied to a pole inside the cart. His charges where read to him and he was taken out of the cart. Then he was stripped of everything but his loincloth and tied to a pole with his arms tied above his head.
Two ticklers came and bowed to Khan, then went up to the prisoner, who was shaking and already giggling before anyone had touched him. One tickler began with firm strokes up and down then prisoner's ribs. the other tickler began tickling down the inner heard in the crowd watching as well as the solders. Polo watched intently as the man thrashed and wriggled and begged for the tickling to stop until his words were nothing more that babyish babbling.
The solder with Polo watched Polo's reactions so he could report them to Khan if it was that Polo was to be prisoner for interrogation. Polo turned to thbe solder and asked if he was ticklish. The solder smiled and shook his head. "It is required as a solder in Khan's army to be ticklish. It is both a pleasure ad a curse." Polo thought for awhile. "A pleasure and a curse? How so?" The solder looked surprised.
"You've never been tickled?" he asked. Polo shook his head. "No. Until today is the first time I've ever seen or heard about tickling. I felt a shivery, almost tingly sensation as I watched the torturers tickling the prisoner." The solder bent forward and whispered, "Did the sensation want to make you laugh?" Polo blushed about and nodded. Al of a sudden he was feeling very uncomfortable. "Please explain to me about tickling being a pleasure anda curse." asked a nervous and curious Polo.
The solder smiled. "It all has to do with how ticklish you are and who is doing the tickling. Take our unfortunate prisoner over there. He is being tickled as a form of torture and it is agony for him, Even though he is laughing and giggling. I was told he was an extremely;y ticklish fellow, hated to be tickled. That is why Khan chose this form of punishment for him. It is why he begs for mercy. Thats the curse. NOW if you are ticklish, love to be tickled and have a person who tickles you as playfulness and because you are agreeable, that is the pleasure. Just imagine the fingertips of someone who is skilled at tickling on your bare skin, making you giggle and writhe in laughter. That is the pleasure of tickling." The solder gave Polo's ribs a playful squeeze to punctuate his sentence. Surprised by the feeling, Polo jumped and twisted away, a giggle slipping out of his mouth. Polo rubbed where the solder had tickled him and moved away. Khan had noticed what had happened and smiled to himself. Later in the evening he summoned the solder and told him to ride to the eighth Pagoda and fetch Yow, Ju Ching, a monk schooled in the art of tickling back to the royal court.
Polo had retired to his quarters and laid in the bed listening to the prisoner giggling as the punishment was still going on. The sun had slipped down the mountains slowly. As Polo listened to the desperate giggling of the prisoner, he felt new and unusual sensations in bubbling up form his belly. Soon he began to giggle quietly until the punishment had stopped.
In the morning he met with Khan who was interested in what Polo thought about the punishment. Polo blushed a crimson color and smiled . "The prisoner's laughter affected me so that I felt as if I were the one being tickled and wanted to giggle with the prisoner. Khan smiled. "You are unfamiliar wiht our ways of pleasure and punishment. Have you never been tickled? Never felt the touch of playfully fingernails on your bare belly.. or the bottoms of your feet?" Polo shook his head and answered, "No Never. I don't know if I am even ticklish." Khan smiled and moved closer to Polo.
"Take off your tunic and I will find out!" Khan said. As Polo took off his tunic, Khan pulled out a small feather and a soft writing brush. "Now lay back an dI will do the rest." whispered Khan. Plol laid back on the cushions and closed his eyes, not knowing what to expect.
Khan touched Polo's lower ribcage, making him jump about. Then He slowly dragged his nails up wards on Polo's ribs, making him wiggle. Surprised at ethe sensation, Polo giggled and twisted away. Then Khan tickled down Polo's ribs and kneaded his lower sides about. Polo jumped and laughed oddly and clapped his arms down to protect his ticklish parts.
"Stop!!" cried Polo between giggles. Khan took the feather and ran it down Polo's back then across to his belly. By now Polo was thrashing and giggling and begging for Khan to stop tickling him." Khan, laughings and breathing fast stopped and let Polo recover. "You are more ticklish than you know!" Cried Khan.
Polo, still giggling and breathing heavily to get air nodded. "Theres someone I want you to meet. He is far better at ticklish ways than I am. He is prior of the Ministry of the Eighth Pagoda. He is also Master of Tickling Arts. He can teach you all you will need to know about tickling" smiled Khan.
Polo was unsure if he wanted to meet this monk, but knew he had to learn the culture and ways of these people to know them. Polo, having recovered, nodded. "I will meet with this monk, but Great Khan.. I need to know one thing.." said Polo. Khan turned and looked directly at Polo, hands on hips." Yes .. What do you want to know?" replied Khan.
Polo got very close to Khan and put his hand on his side and whispered, "Where are you ticklish?!" and tweaked Khan's side as he asked. Khan giggled and whispered back."Everywhere!" End - Part 1
