View Full Version : Wide signatures

This is a minor annoyance to be sure, but worth mentioning.

There are one or two TMF Members with signatures that have multiple images stacked horizontally. Consequently any page of a thread in which these few people post becomes abnormally wide, necessitating a lot of horizontal scrolling to read any post on that particular page.

Not a big deal by any means, and certainly not serious enough to turn off all signatures, but still a minor annoyance. I was wondering if there's a way to limit the width of the page to force these images to wrap?

i think this got touched upon on another thread dealing with someone wanting to block an individuals thread, but if it's that distracting for you to have noticed, then most likely someone else feels the same way too. I would just send a friendly PM asking that person about it, i know who you are talking about and i think a little talk with the person will be a whole lot easier then coding some system to block certain people's sigs.

Signatures that "Break the frame" of the average page width, and force scrolling left-right to read threads is an issue that we have always been responsive to. We ask users for edits once or twice a month to solve this issue.

If you find one that is causing you issues report it. I'll get the report, and ask the user to make an edit so things are more readable.

Actually, while that's sometimes an issue as well, my inquiry in that thread was meant to be able to avoid things I personally consider offensive but that don't break any rules. As Drew said in his post, no huge deal.

Any time I have personally asked folks to adjust their sigs they are usually quite open to doing so, but if I feel that I cant go directly to them, I go to the mods and they in turn ask them to adjust them...

i agree it is annoying to have to scroll back and forth to read all of the posts in a thread, especially when I was using the laptop...

But as Myr said, the mods are very responsive and most offenders dont even realize it is a problem until someone tells them...:)

I filed the report and within hours, the signature was changed.

Thanks, Myriads.
