The Good Guys finished their regular season, and made it to the playoffs. Now, with so many troublesome issues hanging over them personally, Mitch and Naomi had to dig down deep, to do their jobs, as baseball players for the Good Guys, to try and bring the team a championship.
The National League Division Series began on a Tuesday, in Paradise, against the Wild Card Mets. Gil Bellows started against the Mets Johan Santana. Santana was good, giving up two runs, but Bellows was better, allowing only one run in six innings, and combining with the bullpen, for a 2-1 opening game Good Guy win. Charlize Theron opposed the Mets John Maine in Game Two. Maine allowed three solo homers, and Theron gave up two runs, on scattered singles, in her six innings of work, before giving way to Naomi, Bynes, Duff, and Kate Hudson, who finished off a 3-2 victory, to put Paradise one win from the next round.
The teams flew to New York, and worked out on Thursday, before playing Game Three at Shea Stadium on Friday night. Neve Campbell started for the Good Guys, and got bashed, allowing five runs, as the Mets got themselves back in the series, with a 5-1 triumph. Bellows opposed Johan Santana again in Game Four. Gil allowed only one run in eight innings, but this time, Santana bested him, combining with the Mets bullpen, to post a 1-0 Mets win, and send the series back to Paradise for a decisive Game Five, something that didnt often happen to the Good Guys in this round.
The teams flew back to Paradise in the wee hours of Sunday, and had no off day to regroup, as Game Five was played before a large crowd on Sunday night, that was not a sellout. Charlize Theron and John Maine were the starters. Maine gave up only one run, as Theron shut the Mets out into the eighth inning, before Hilary Duff allowed a homer to tie the game. In the bottom of the eighth, a suicide squeeze brought home the go ahead run, and Kate Hudson finished the deal in the ninth, as the Good Guys advanced to the National League Championship Series by the skin of their teeth, with a 2-1 decision.

The game was no contest, as Campbell got roughed up for four homers, and five runs, and Hamels was brilliant, firing a five hit shutout, as the Phillies blanked Paradise, 5-0, for a big jolt to begin the NLCS. Gil Bellows opposed the Phils Brett Myers on Wednesday night in Game Two, a must win for Paradise. The inconsistent Myers gave up three homers, as Bellows gave a solid effort, allowing only one run into the seventh inning, and then giving way to the bullpen, who brought home a 5-2 win, to tie the series at one game all.

Within one inning, the game was tied, and the crowd was quiet. Then, in the ninth, with the score tied, the Phillies gave up another homer to Burns. Kate Hudson locked it up in the ninth, and the Good Guys had a stunning, 5-4 win, to tie the series at two games all. Now, instead of facing elimination, the Good Guys knew this series would at least live to head back to Paradise, where they would have a chance. Gil Bellows pitched Game Five for the Good Guys. Although such was an unorthodox move, to start a pitcher for the first time in the postseason, in Game Seven of a series, Koelher figured that Hayden could not do any worse than Neve had done. Hayden pitched very well, allowing two runs in five innings. The Good Guys trailed, 2-1, before coming up with three sixth inning runs. From there, Naomi, Duff, and Bynes got the team to the ninth. Kate Hudson went to the mound for the ninth, and got the outs she needed, to send the Good Guys to the World Series. The team had thus far played twelve long games in the post season, with seven more possible.
A very tired Paradise Island ballclub boarded the plane to JFK Airport in New York, to start the World Series against the Yankees, at the House That Ruth Built, on Saturday night. With the off days, the Good Guys could go back to their preferred regular rotation for the World Series. Gil Bellows would oppose the Yankees Chin Min Wang in the opener on Saturday night at Yankee Stadium. Bellows got hit hard, as the Yankees lit him up for five runs. Wang, meanwhile, allowed only one run, as the Yankees came away with relatively easy 6-1 win. Charlize Theron pitched Game Two, against the Yankees Andy Pettite. Charlize gave up but two solo homers, and nothing else, but Pettite shut out the Good Guys into the eighth inning, and combined with the staunch Yankee bullpen, for a 2-0 Yankee win, to put the Yanks halfway to the World Title.

The Good Guys got to the eighth, with the narrowest of leads, when, Elmont Koehler went against the "book", and with an off day the next day, tried to use closer Kate Hudson for two innings, to close the deal. An error, and a cheap hit, were followed by a long Arod homer. Now, the Yankees had a two run lead. Deflated, having had their best get rocked, the Good Guys sucummbed meekly in the ninth, losing 7-5. Now, facing the longest of odds, after a sickening defeat, they had to take the 1200 mile plane ride to New York, needing to win both games there, to emerge as champions.
A racous crowd of over 60,000 showed up on Saturday night to see the Good Guys play the Yankees. Hayden was the only available option for the Good Guys, who needed to save ace Gil Bellows, if there was a Game Seven. Hayden pitched just well enough to lose, giving up three runs in five innings, The Good Guys made it interesting in the ninth, as Mariano Rivera came in with a 3-0 lead, which Paradise made 3-1, and then 3-2. With Mitch at the plate, Rivera induced him to pop up, for the final out. The Good Guys had fallen, 3-2, and lost the World Series in six games. It had been a long, hard postseason, and now, the winter was upon them, with many uncertainities.
The World Series over, the media closed in for comments: "I congratulate the Yankees. We had twelve brutal games with the Mets and Phillies, and I dont think we played our best in this World Series. That being said, we take the National League title, and hope for better things next year". When Mitch was asked about the status of his return to baseball the following year, he quickly said. "I have no comment. I havent talked to anyone about that. I have personal issues to weigh over the winter. You guys will know when I do" Mitch said, cutting off the interviews.
The team held its final tickle party of the year, on the Monday after the season ended, before scattering for the winter.
