Things just keep getting stranger for Phoenix. I hope for the sake of all that's holy that his recent behavior is simply a publicity stunt, because otherwise he is heading down a very dark path.

*Shakes head* I hope he doesn't go down a slippy slope as I would hope that his cred as an actor would not fall by the way side.

Why does this happen to talented people? :evileye:

He's out Borating Borat. I hope they know when to stop though. A joke can only go on for so long without a punchline. :yayzorz:

The heckler was most likely a plant.

Maybe, or it could just have been a drunk.

why would they take the performer away and not the the one disrupting the show. You try that at a performance and see who they get rid of lol. I think it was staged

If this is yet another publicity stunt, then he has to realise that the time honored "I ain't takin' sheeit from nobody" angle, only works for rappers who were tantrumy dicks to begin with.

Fuck, this guy will never be able to salvage his career. He's a poser and everyone knows it.

Just another Hollywood headcase attention whore IMO! To think that 2-3 years ago he was up for an Oscar just astounds me........:facepalm2:

I don't believe for one second he's canned his acting career to do this for a living long term. The confrontation was probably staged and it's going to wind up as part of a spinal tap esque 'documentary' one way or the other.

Of course he and the guy permanently filming these incidents are going to deny thats the case but I refuse to be taken in by the whole thing. Its the same with whole weird letterman interview he did, he's a professional actor and just seeing how far he can get away with it.

With any luck it'll be a good film.

i really hope that this is for his documentary or art piece or performance piece or whatever its called. I'm all about creating something, I love pranks and awkward things, but sometimes, it makes you wonder how far/odd/out there you have to go to get attention.

Here is video of the bizarre event. Again, I'm so hoping it's all a big stunt. It would be sad to see someone so talented waste away like this.

it does kind of remind me of Andy Kaufman/Tom Green type stuff.

Me too, and I do hope that's all it is. I'll say this... if it is all a stunt, he's doing a damn brilliant job of selling it.

I agree, his eyes have that same "bottom of a bottlecap" look that Tom Green's get when he's deep in a schtick coma, like everything is on automatic pilot and his personality is out to lunch

And if it is all just schtick, you have to wonder whether or not Letterman was in on the joke, too.

Exactly ! If this stuff was real, his brother in law wouldn't be filming it and his family would be desperately trying to get him help.

And if it is all just schtick, you have to wonder whether or not Letterman was in on the joke, too.

By the time they had the show, Letterman had to know what was going on. At some point someone would have said to him, hey Juaquin Phoenis is here but he looks, and is acting, like a maniac. So I guess the question is whether or not Phoenix would have said to Letterman's people, this is all a gag (if it even is, though I lean strongly in that direction) or not.

I think it is all a gag because it's all just a little too convenient. Especially the way Phoenix acts like there's nothing weird about it. Even if he had undergone this transformation, he would still realize that it required a little explanation. The whole "I don't even see what you're so surprised about," thing is what gives it away, in my opinion.
