View Full Version : What would you like on your sandwich?
Since we have a toast thread and all, I figured a sandwich thread would be appropriate. Doesn't have to be anything fancy, so I'll get us started. Right now I'm in the mood for the following combination.
Thin-sliced ham and turkey
Lettuce
Tomato
Red Onion (and maybe a few pickles to top it off)
Deli Mustard
Perhaps on a baguette roll of some sort. Suddenly, I'm a tad hungry. Go figure. :p

Mmmm, good suggestions. I forgot to add Swiss cheese in my original post. And as Kered so diligently pointed out, nothing beats a cold beer on the side. :D

The perfect sandwich is a Roast Beef club with no tomatoes.
Nice crisp greens, freshly fried up bacon, nice lean roast beef, a touch of dressing (it can be mayo, russian, or even a mild horseradish) on toasted wheat.
Ah, nice.

I would answer this but I get real bored during the time it takes to actually make a sandwich.
I wind up eating everything as I'm making it. So, I'll start by taking out two pieces of bread. Then whatever spread I want. Then eating the meat. Then being like, Fuck it, and eating a slice of bread.
Then the lettuce. Then the other slice of bread.
Then I'll just sit by the fridge and have a drink.

I work at a fast-food sub shop and when I'm done with my shift I usually get turkey and salami with american cheese + mayo, lettuce, tomato, extra pickles, oil, and oregano on a wheat roll.
If I go to this Italian deli across the street from the boyfriend's house, I get mortadella and pepperoni with american cheese + mayo, lettuce, tomato, oil, and vinegar. The bf gets the same except with giardinera. That stuff is gross.

Oh my!
The only thing I've heard stranger than this was marshmallow fluff and apple jelly sandwiches.....:xlime:

The better question to ask me is what I don't like on a sandwich because I can have just about anything between two slices of good bread! My new fave is at a local deli called the half and half: half pastrami, half corned beef with mustard, swiss and pickles on rye. Delicious!

I'll take thin-sliced lean roast beef on a wheat roll with a little American cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, purple onions, green peppers and black olives. Spread on a little low-fat mayo and mustard, then sprinkle on some salt and pepper and it's just right. :)

It's all goin' to the same place, right? :D
For me, I'll say genoa salami, sliced thin or shaved, and I like to pile it on the bread til it's almost an inch thick, throw on a single slice of American cheese, spread regular yellow mustard on one side of the bread, and toss it in the microwave for 20 seconds to melt the cheese and hold it all together, and warm it up a little. Mmmm.... heartburn city! :D

I am afraid I can't do that.
I have already promised the ownership if my vital organs to a very nice cult that has been keeping in touch with our extra-terrestrial brothers and sisters
who live in the sun.
I know. It sounded crazy when I first heard it, too. Trust me. After they give you their well though out pamphlets and three injections, you too will understand why we need a new highway in Mexico City made completely of ricotta and cottage cheese.

Hmm what size would it be Artoo; a little finger roll or large bagette :blaugh:
Also, what is American cheese, is it actually produced in any county or just all over in general? What is it like, is it a hard cheese or like a cheese slice as in what you have with a burger?

It can be either white or yellow in color It's the kind of cheese usually found on a typical cheeseburger I am a Yank, and I much prefer Swiss,or provolone,or mozzerella(sp?) cheese

I'm probably not the best person to ask or to answer but I'd think it is the orange processed cheese slices, but, like most things its what takes your fancy and you can put any sort of slice on it.
