Sitting there I can count
one
two
three
four
meteors dribbling down the atmosphere
sinking in and out of my conscious
only important
only there
for less than a second
And do you remember
when we settled
into the stars
because it was cold and we were children
and they
felt warmer to us
then the blankets;
hide and seek
without moving an inch
without saying a word
spinning underneath
that dark electric
and dizzy
and headrushes
and nonstop commotion
because we had more thoughts
then there were
stars
to
light our
way
and none of them were
good
but they did let me
see that you
were a heavier
weight
then the night on
my sleepy head.
and so I said
"When'd I
lose you?"
and you could only watch
the nothing
in response.
And then I knew that you
were just as lost as I was
and you still are.
Just angrier
just taller
just older
just emptier
but underneath
the drug haze and
the shadow of addiction
bagging beneath your eyes
I know that you're still my
brother
and I'll always hate you
for making me love
you
so damn
much

Ah, you can choose your friends...

This is good. it reminds me of something one minght be saying after a break up or a good good friend or family member dying suddenly and before their time.

Good stuff and thanks for sharing sweetie. It's weird because it describes some that my younger brother and I were talking about this past weekend.

It's actually about my brother, you can not as easily choose your family members...haha.
