I'll be looking in here often to check on any technical issues that people report. I'll trust that Crystal will be ontop of the 'how to' issues.

Attachment thumbnails should be reappearing (if they have not already) over the next day or so. I am regenerating the few that were borked by the update as I type this.

Some feedback on the new look:
I am finding the fonts and lack of spacing in the lists of threads much harder to read through than the old format. Is there any way to change the theme?

I dont seem to be able to edit my posts. :( Everytime I click the edit post button I get the edit menu but the text from the post is gone and I cant even type in the area. Maybe there is something I am not seeing.
PS The edit seems to work in simple mode. Only advanced is causing problems.
PSS: Ok this really is awful seems I cant do anything in advanced mode post or edit. Not sure what is wrong but it wont let me type in the area to place text. :( )

What browser are you using, Kurchman? I have a suspicion that the Javascript editor is not happy with you.

I am using IE6. :)

There are two possible issues. One, your ancient version of IE just won't cut it. Two, your cached version of the Javascript files is out of date. Can you do a complete clearing of your temporary internet files? Let me know if you need to know how to do that. Just clear them all, close all IE windows, and restart IE. See if that fixes it.
If not, you probably need a browser upgrade, Kurchman. I know your machine is a bit of a dinosaur, so I can recommend a very lightweight browser for you that should be faster than IE (and I'd recommend it over IE6 anyway).

There isn't a way for you to change the theme, no. We have but one theme available. I made some changes to the coloring that should improve readability (given the large number of folks who were complaining about it), but I can't speak to the spacing of threads yet. I'm watching impressions of the theme to see what people like and don't, and things that are hated by many will see changes.

I will try the temp internet cache clearing first let you know how that goes. :)
I have downloaded IE8 and Firefox3.5.5. Not sure if those will work with XP SP2. If I install IE8 (assuming it is compatible) do I install it over IE6 or in antoher folder?

This is not really a question about having a problem, just more curiosity. I'm looking at my profile and I see a link on the left side that says "View Articles" but when I click on it, I get the "you don't have permission to access this page, yada, yada, yada" message. I'm curious on what that is intended for and will we be able to use it?

You usually don't get a choice as to where you install IE8. Just install it and it will do its thing. I'd almost tell you to install Opera instead; it's about the fastest and lowest-footprint of the browsers.

Kurch,
I don't know anything about your system or what it's capable of, but give Chrome a try .. it's not given me any issues & is a BILLION times better than IE.

That is a feature that is still in the process of being worked out.. and mostly won't be available to users without Admin/Mod permission. So just ignore it for now.

It may need SP3. Just try Opera or Chrome; you shouldn't be using IE anyway; it's not a safe browser.

Hi guys.
My question has to do with the video clips. I've downloaded a handful of previews from different companies, and on Windows Media player, all the clips seem a bit pixelated. FT's clips seem to have a faint red and green grid, and Zen's clips aren't in focus. I played some other preview clips I downloaded from the previous format, and I don't have an issue with them at all.
Is anyone else having this issue?
Thanks.

Ok this is a relatively minor issue. But it seems that marquee HTML function does not work in this version. Not sure if its because of Opera 11 or if its something to do with the settings I have or if its a quirk with Version 4. :)
This might be an HTML issue with certain browsers not all of them like the marquee function I think.

Kurch,
I tested HTML Marquee on Firefox, Opera & Chrome and had no issues.
I used the standard HTML coding < marquee>Text Here< /marquee> (obviously with no spaces).
Is that how you're doing your HTML or are you using a BB Code?

Yea that what I am doing using pure HTML. It seems to work fine when I am in the preview mode for advanced editing. But when I go back to the main posts there is nothing there. Probably something I am have set in Opera. This is the first time I have used it. Seems faster the IE though. So far I like it.

Greetings from the stupid Brit.
I don't normally like to critisise, but regarding the new look I would say in a word, AWFULL!
Why did you have to change it in the first place? The old but BETTER version was fine!
Now that I have made My initial point, Where do I start?
Firstly, as somebody with a Registered Disablity I felt that with the old but Better version, You did an exellent job of making this site acessable to all, but now I would have to say you've made it worse.
As somebody with Eyesight dificulties (though I'm not blind) I find the all white background painfull for my eyes to look at, perhaps a grey background would be nice?
I also find the in the posts there are no visible borders like there was in the old but Better version, even if this is just a think black line, it would help me alot.
In the "Advanced Search" section, the old but Better style of search function (single search) was better and I would prefer to get this version each time.
In the search results itself I prefer not to have to scoll down to see more than 1 result as the box is too big, not all of the text display's in the box and again there is a lack of visible borders.
I prefer to "search all open forums" and see ALL the results rather than just a selection. Previously I would click on "Advanced Search", type into the search box and hit enter and find ALL the results and usually what I wanted. But now when I search a perticular keyword I can't find several threads that I know were in the list on the old but Better version.
In the posts themselves, I find the "Manage Atachments" section of the "Go Advanced" bit was much simpler in the old but Better version.
I'm sure there are plenty of other issues that I would like raise, but right now its 12:45am here in england and I want to go to bed.

Just tried that on Chrome and had no issues. What Browser are you using? Cleared cache? Due to how massive the update was, I'd recommend updating the main page bookmark if you have it & clearing cookies/cache.

Ummm.. well .. when I use the Chrome Browser and post a youtube video it doesn't show it until I go BACK into that post. This might be the case for you as well?

Hiya.
I'm in NO position to speak towards what will & will not be changing color-wise, but you aren't alone in not digging the bright white. I believe Admin is working on coming up with a color background that keeps with the layout format as well as appeases the populace. :)
As far as the functionality? -- It's been a long time coming. And for many, it's going to take a LOT of getting used to.. whether you're a vet or a newbie. I plan on putting together some Guides to help make getting accustomed to the changes a little bit easier for everyone. Other than that, hopefully the design and mechanics grow on you in time. But there still are kinks being worked out, so don't give up yet. :D

Check your marquee code, Kurchman. I updated my installation of Opera to the latest and can get a marquee to work. As CrystalLight pointed out, it seems to work. Note that the marquee tag is an obsolete HTML tag that is supported by the grace of the browser makers alone. Here's a test one:
<marquee>Fahrvergnugen</marquee>

My suggestion here is the same as CrystalLight's. Install the latest version of Java (preferably uninstalling all older versions) and try again. I can explain how to do this if need be. If that fails, try downloading the Opera (http://www.opera.com) (http://www.opera.com), Chrome (http://www.google.com/chrome/) (http://www.google.com/chrome/) or Firefox (http://www.firefox.com) (http://www.firefox.com) internet browsers to use instead of IE. If one works, then it is an IE-specific issue. Alternatively, you could try updating IE to version 8 if it is a version below that.

This is an issue I ran into. If you log in from http://ticklingforum.com and NOT http://www.ticklingforum.com (note the www) it produces this error. I'll work on a fix.

I'm trying to decide what to do with the white that won't require me to redo the whole style (which I've not the time, frankly, to do). Myriads and I have to ponder where is the best way to go, color-wise.
As to the search and attachments features, I cannot do much about that. They are where vBulletin has chosen to go, and we can't stay in an old version forever. New security exploits come up every day for the old version, and only the new is receiving serious attention in terms of development.

I haven't scanned the whole thread, so I apologize if it's a repeat, but the first time I try to log in, I get "Invalid Redirect URL (http://ticklingforum.com/index.php?)", then the next time I attempt it, it works. Ideas?
This should now be corrected.

From a readability point of view I think we've gotten things to a solid point.
The addition of the thin black edge, minor color shifts, and font size changes seem to have done the trick.

The last activity on thye profile page only shows what I viewed before I navigate to that page. In the older version, it showed the date and time of my previous login and wasn't constantly changing to reflect my activities. This information was on the forum page at the top right corner as soon as I logged in. Now when I go to the profile, it only tells me the page that I was on before, not the last time that I was logged in. Can you bring that info back?

Any ideas on bringing back the video chatroom? I'm a n00b so don't rly know what happened to bring it down.
:siterocks::siterocks:
They decided to start charging a few grand a year to have the audio/visual side of things.
Also the ads that were part of the embedded boundary around the room were not screened and often contained i-frame vector viri and such.
In short is was a shoddy room, that suddenly became very expensive.

A in house developed chat program would be an option. But it's one that I couldn't give a go ahead for at this time. Why? Bandwidth costs on a chat client can be nasty. And the TMF for better or worse, can't go into debt like the government, so we have to take great care in anything that could spike our costs.
I won't argue that voice and video chat are things people would enjoy, but I'm not sure we could handle the costs in bandwidth for them at this time.

Much of this will simply have to be tolerated. We don't have the ability to radically change the layout, mainly because it makes updating the software so time-consuming as to be impossible. We can make tweaks here and there if you have specific issues and can point us in a direction to go, but no promises.

Search is a weird beast to use on this version. CrystalLight's guide should help, but I honestly think there is something wrong with it (searches I once was able to do also don't work). Are you not getting any results with a search that once worked? For example, I once was able to search my abbreviated name (HDS*) and see if anyone had asked for my help in a post. Now, I cannot. It is peculiar. I have to keep looking at it, but perhaps CrystalLight's guide will help.

Could it be done? I am sure. But, I don't think we can easily do it, as I'd have to find out where that information is stored (if it is now) and then pull it for users when they view any page. It quickly becomes an issue of performance (as whatever I write will be more inefficient than what the vBulletin developers write).
As to the chatroom, we could write one that did video and audio. It could be bandwidth-sparing if we stuck all the video uploading on the user's end, but there is no way that would work for more than one or two users viewing a feed unless you distribute it. The time required to write such a program that is stable and useful would be unmanagable. I've been on the lookout for a good chatroom solution that we can host (text-only), but few exist; chat is a dying field, and usually it comes as part of a larger package.
The problem with Tinychat, as far as I can tell, is that it has no control. We have the chatroom we have because it has an immense degree of control. We can ban if we need to. We appoint moderators as needed. This had to be done; the early chatrooms were a uncontrollable wasteland that served no purpose. This is the problem. Plenty of free chat solutions exist; few to none exist that combine the control we need with cost we can afford. We're always looking for options, though.
I am depressed about the old A/V room, though. It took a lot of work to make the TMF interface with it (their API documentation was nonexistent to outright wrong) and then it became a nonoption. Unhappy code monkey. =(

I dug around a little, and it turns out that they have a line of code to do just that, but it was commented out and thus disabled. I'll enable it and make it look presentable. It's up now on the main style; it will make it to the others shortly.

Is there any way to edit the thread listing layout to remove the "Started by Such-and-such, 08-02-2011 10:53 PM" and shorten it to just have the thread starter's name as it was before?
One main issue I see in readability now is that it's hard to distinguish between the different threads simply because there's so much text thrown in. The Video/audio clips section is a prime example of this. The old layout would show the entire thread name (usually relatively long) with just the thread starter's name underneath, and the next long line of text would be the name of the next thread. Now, every line is a long line of text, and the only way to distinguish between a thread title and thread start info is the slight color difference.

I second that. I do find that it looks somewhat cluttered now, to the point that I need to read the thread titles more carefully to get an idea what they're about.
I also find that there's too much description text under the name of each of the forums on the main page, but I do understand how that text is useful to people who are new to the TMF.
Other than that, I wish the forum names and thread titles were a bit darker, same for the background, but those are minor quibbles and a matter of personal taste.

PAUL JONESI think one of the last things that they'll do is update the indexing for the search engine. So until they do that, I don't think it'll be working until they iron out all other possible bugs. And even then, with a site this size, it'll take a while to index everything.

It also does not appear to me that there is a way to remove an attached file if need be? You cannot delete the original top thread so if you need to take a file off from such a post your pretty much screwed?

Something is wrong with search. I think the reason is that I have to manually enable boolean search for every usergroup. I enabled it for Admin and was able to find results I couldn't before. I'm turning it on for all usergroups. Please try searches and let me know if they work better now. I have no idea why boolean search is needed to make it work, but then I don't know most things. Boolean should only matter for conditionals, but eh.
I'm seeing this when I'm viewing Kurch and my conversations:

goddess_nemesis: http://www.ticklingforum.com/attachment.php?albumid=17&attachmentid=15079
If you open those, do you not get either the "middle finger to the glasses" or "tickling in stocks" images? Here is what I think happened. The upgrade moved album and blog attachments around. I think that you are linking to the old attachments from version three. Can you go to the image you want for your profile background in your albums and recopy the address to save it in your customized profile? See if that fixes it and please let me know either way.
Nemesis, with respect to your blog issue, I looked at the current image for your blog background: http://www.ticklingforum.com/picture.php?albumid=17&pictureid=259594

Did that fix the blog, though? Do you have to put that in every time you save the blog? Or just that once?
As an FYI to those who asked about disabling customized profiles, that setting does not work and it is a known bug. There is no ETA on fixing it. I have updated it to note that it still affects 4.1.5 PL1 (which we run).

"Started by" isn't really necessary since having the thread starter's username under the thread title shows who started it. All other versions of vB show it like this, and I highly doubt anyone is confused by it for very long (if at all).
The date is quite useful there now that you mention it, but could it be fixed to remove any leading zeros (mM-dD-YYYY rather than MM-DD-YYYY) as well as removing the time? Since the reasoning behind showing the date is to distinguish old bumped threads from new fresh ones, the specific time isn't important enough to have to show in the thread listing as well.
"Started by CrystalLight, 07-28-2011 12:52 PM"
could be truncated to
"CrystalLight [7-28-2011]"
or something along those lines. That would show the thread starter as well as the original thread start date without all the extra clutter.

I'm turning it on for all usergroups. Please try searches and let me know if they work better now. I have no idea why boolean search is needed to make it work, but then I don't know most things. Boolean should only matter for conditionals, but eh.
'Kay. I'll try running the previous user's "f/m" search and let you know. If it works, I'll hammer out a guide today.
I have a feeling I may need to tell everyone to rebuild their customized profiles and blogs, but I want to confirm that what I have said fixes both of your issues first.
Re: Customized Profiles.
I already made an updated Guide. I had dinked w/the profiles yesterday and didn't experience any significant issues. Since there seems to be issues w/placing images, I'll just double check that I can load one of mine. But perhaps resetting to Default and starting again might need to happen. We'll see.

Update: H'okay. Doing another involved "f/m" search brought up nothing on all counts.
Then I did a basic "tmi tuesday" search (just using the search bar function) and it brought up results.

H'okay. We have an issue w/Images in the User profiles.
I have mine set back to Default. And just went to try and throw an image in as a BR to make sure there aren't any issues.
I have 2 albums. One public. One Private specifically for BR's. -- When I try to select the private one, it brings up my public pictures. When I select the public one, it brings up my private pictures.
Didn't even test to see if an image would lay as a BR because this is an issue of itself.

You have to search for more than just that. However, it doesn't seem to like the "f/m" as a search. I'd bet that the slash is proving to be an issue. Honestly, search through vB is terrible. There is a new search engine they are working on, but until they finalize it, I'm not touching it. I suggest using a Google or Bing search as a substitute. Enter the following:
site:ticklingforum.com f/m
This will search the TMF for the term f/m.

I'm confused. So, when you open your private album, the public images come up? Just clicking on the album? Or only when you try to use an image as a background?
To go back to earlier issues:
The problem with visitor message conversations is known. It has not yet been fixed. I will implement a fix as soon as they do. I'll remove the images from all conversations for now, but you won't get backgrounds on them. This should make things a little better.
The blog issue is also a known bug. Again, it has not yet been fixed. I will implement a fix as soon as they do. For now, just use the workaround (entering an image in each time you do something).

It was for the member's benefit as well. I would create your guide as best you can, as you know about as much as I do. I would only caution you to include a note about using Google or Bing to do a site search in the event that the internal search fails. Until we get a new engine, I can't fix this. =( I'll be glad to help if you want, but I don't know what I can do. Ask if you've got a specific question (in PM or email or whatever).

When I log on to the forum using Google Chrome, the text box isn't there, so I can't type anything. I can't make new threads, can't reply, can't post messages on my profile, can't make private messages or reply to private messages.
I logged in using Mozilla Firefox as my browser and it works so I could type this reply, do I have to always use FireFox? Or is there an update for Google Chrome I need?

Then, honestly, I am not sure. If you have the latest version of Chrome and it does not work but works for others, then the evidence points to a problem specific to your machine. I assume other browsers work, since you are posting here. Which one were you able to get to work?

Speedbump's signature was improperly copied from YouTube and omitted the closing object tag, screwing with the layout of all things thereafter. This has been corrected. Please take care when pasting complex signatures that you include all the markup (and that the source properly closed the tags in the markup).

I'm not even home yet, so maybe this is a premature question to ask until I see, but I was just wondering...
I havent been able to get into the chatroom for quite some time, even at home. I've tried updating java, to no avail, but this is more about accessing the forum itself.
My computer (If it still works God willing after being off for 2 months) is an old Dell from 2002, with a very old version of IE. I think I updated IE once since I've had the computer.. maybe seven years ago.
So.. my question is.. is it likely I will still be able to access even the forum itself with my very old version of IE, or will I probably have to update it?
If anyone has any info, it will be appreciated. Thanks. I probably wont be home until Tuesday or Wednesday anyway, but I was just wondering.

I know the search problems have been discussed already but I have to say something. My searches for clips were pretty much the only reason I joined the site. If I'm to be told that from now on I'll have to search in Google or Bing as pakkarot was told then this site is of no use to me anymore. I'm sorry if this is harsh but you have to understand how extremely frustrating it is to just come along one day to find a completely revamped site where the one functionality I used no longer works. What I'd like to know is will these problems ever be resolved? My specific search term is the same as pakkarot's.

We upgraded the forum because support for the last version was waining, and hacks and exploits were starting to be a big issue as the software had been taken apart and studied by bot makers and such.
So our upgrade was needful. We had little choice in the matter, as if we didn't the odds of you logging into a TMF that had been hacked/erase/whatever was growing.
The new version of VB is far from perfect, the search function sucks. There is no fix for this issue until the writers of the code serve a patch. When will they do this? No idea. Could be next week, could be next year. We have no control over their update speed. That this version of VB has been out for almost a year can give you an idea as to how long they let things ride broken.
Using Google or Bing to search us is not any harder or more difficult then using the built in function. HDS describes how to do it above, and it does return good results. It is a hassle to not be able to use the built in search, but its how it is.
I regret that the forum that we supply to you free of charge, and ask nothing for from you to use is not operating up to the levels of performance that you wish it to.

As it turned out, one of the fixes for color broke the customizable background colors on profiles. It was a relatively minor fix (the white behind posts was slightly darkened) and I've removed it. Customized backgrounds should now work.
Search on vBulletin is bad. vBulletin knows this. Many, many angry users have told them this. They are supposedly working on it, but I've seen no sign of this. I just tried installing a commercial solution that another large vBulletin forum uses and have found that it works no better. I simply don't have a way to fix it until they do. The time and manpower is simply not here for us to create a fix on our own. Using Google or Bing is fortunately simple; all one has to do is go their and put site:www.ticklingforum.com before their search. Is it annoying to have to leave the site to search? Sure. But, at least there is an option. Believe you me, we don't like it any more than you do.

That would be a significant change in behavior that would require users to view all unread threads before they were marked as such. Would that be a more logical reading of the words "read" and "unread?" Certainly. But, I'm wary of making that kind of behavior change. Folks expect to come back after inactivity and automatically find that only threads updated since they were last active are unread. If there is a great demand for this, we can change it.

That would be a significant change in behavior that would require users to view all unread threads before they were marked as such.I agree that it's a significant change. It's not so significant as you think: There's still the Link Forum Actions -> Mark Forums read, and with two clicks you have all forums/threads marked as read.
Folks expect to come back after inactivity and automatically find that only threads updated since they were last active are unread.Maybe, but maybe not. If folks don't have much time to come here and look for new threads, they now have two choices:
* come here and look for the important/interesting threads, but have to leave before they can read all the threads they normaly would - and so "loose" some posts.
* don't come here and look for an occasion later where they have more time to read all the new posts they want to
When you change the behavior it wouldn't matter how much time one brings in when visiting the forum as you can't lose any interesting new posts. So I guess there would be more people visiting the forum spontaneously and so making the forum even more vital. It wouldn't matter if you don't read a thread for three visits, as you can automatically start reading the thread where you left off, even if there are new posts.
By the way: Suggested setting is standard on new vBulletin installations, so the users should get used to the new system really fast, as they could know it from other forums they visit. Speaking for me you are the only vBulletin forum I regularly visit that has this old setting.
I don't know how great demand for this is, but I hope users would enjoy the added usability (and even read more threads ;)). Maybe you can talk about that with the other moderators and if you don't get to a clear opinion for changing it I/you can create a new thread asking the users for their opinion.

I'd always remembered this behavior on the old ezboard platform, but never saw it anywhere else. phpBB3 might follow this rule, but I honestly don't know. It makes sense so long as you expect unread to literally mean that.

Feel free to ask if you like. I'm nothing more than a tech at this stage. I fix problems and apply updates. This place long ago ceased to be a source of relaxation or discussion for me, so I remain inactive save for technical work. If the demand is there and the admins approve it, then flipped it goes. My assumption is that the change will not be desired, but I am ready to be shown otherwise. :)

Then I guess I shall have to pay more attention....already missed 3 messages.....

Got your PM Copy and forwarded it off the other Channels. I'm unsure why this is happening. Might be a tech issue.
I seem to be a casualty of the upgrade.
My latest post shows me as a "TMF Novice" (which I am not), and my Posting Permissions have been altered
to show that I may NOT post new threads (which I have done).
In fact, a check will show that I am a Registered User, and have more than two dozen threads to my credit.
Please fix. (Perhaps other users are having similar problems.)

Anyone else having a problem linking images? I get error messages some times, but other times it is just fine.
I'm having some difficulty searching in a particular forum/section under the Advanced Search option. Is there a way to do this?

Forgive me.. I just woke up. Stupid is in full function.
Do you mean Images as links? Or posting links of images? Or posting Images?

Search is pretty wonked out. I know that's the worst possible answer I could give you .. but that's all I've got. There are huge issues with Searching. I believe it's a Known issue with VBulletin and they are working on a fix, but I'm not sure.

You've made 51 posts, which just tips you into the TMF Novice rank at 50 so your rank is correct.
Rank has nothing to do with how long you've been posting on forum. It's just how many posts you've made.
You are able to PM me -- so you can post.

When search is performed from main forum page/main sub-forum page the "replies and views" display in a vertical format. This limits the number of search results that can be viewed on the page returning the results. Is this problem being experienced by others? Simple solution?

What specifically are you missing out on? I haven't noticed any serious problems, and the mods are breaking their backs to try to make sure everyone is adjusting. Be specific with your issues so they can be addressed, instead of just general whining.
Or just stick to Tickle Theater. Either way is just fine with me.

Please keep in mind that this thread is for addressing specific issues with the V4 format. -- I understand that it's a huge change from what many vets and even some newer folks are used to. And it's going to take a bit of time to get adjusted to.. aesthetically speaking. I'm sorry you're displeased w/it.
Search functioning has already been addressed as an issue & we're attempting to get it all wrapped up.

Also: I've been test-searching very basic keywords such as "socks" & "nylons" from the main page Search Bar and am pulling up results just fine.
So.. those of you who have been holding out on Searching things, it might be working for you now. :)

As CrystalLight said, you have a bit over 50 posts, so the title the forum gives you is novice. Titles are entirely due to post count; time registered and number of threads don't impact. Is there a specific forum where you are having issues posting new threads?
Anyone else having a problem linking images? I get error messages some times, but other times it is just fine.
What do you mean by errors? Can you give us an example image.
To all those having trouble with search, I reiterate that search is not very good in this version of vBulletin. We traded a search that broke consistently on some searches (running out of memory) to one that seems to break more randomly. I can only suggest to use the Google/Bing fix that I outlined in an earlier post. vBulletin will hopefully fix this problem sooner rather than later.

Move up the thread a bit and you'll see that several times we've mentioned that under the new version search is broken, and there is nothing we can do about it. It needs to be fixed by the coders of the board software, and has been a known issue to them for about a year, so it's not looking like a high priority on their to-do list.
Are we happy about this? No. But we had to upgrade because the security situation of the last build was in a downward spiral, and support for it was going to end also. So here we are.
On the bright side you don't need the search function to find things. Again, above if you look, you'll find a way to search the forum using google or bing. It works very well, and should hold until they finally fix things.

The new mods have worked ok for me to date, a little pale perhaps.
But today i was presented with a different log in page and have raised the question in the tech section.
Also the password and user id were on top of each other and not in a straight line.
It was on another computer and the home page contained three tickling pics like a sort of banner.
Some members in chat were debating problems about logging in and out of chat.
Could you please advise

You landed on the TMF's home page (http://www.ticklingforum.com) Which is different from the forums index page (http://www.ticklingforum.com/forum.php
To go from the home page to the index page just click the picture in the middle of the home page and you'll b eon the forum and can log in.
Your errors in viewing the page sound like some graphic artifacts that can happen with older java.
As for the Chat Room it's host has been a bit bumpy over the past week, so there have been more boots and hard entries then usual.

Believe you me, we don't like it any more than you do.The big problem with this solution here, is that I tend to spend all my time on the stories section. But if I type the ticklingforum.com/whateverthefulllinkistostories it still searches within ticklingforum.com, NOT that specific section (which makes sense since the stories themselves won't have that full f=12 thing or whatever). So to say it causes annoyance is an... understatement lol.
I understand that you can't fix the problem, but why use vbulletin at all then? Surely there must be a better choice? And, any chance you can think of a different (better) workaround than the google one?

Yes there are other software platforms that provide forum services.
Changing would mean tossing out multi thousands of dollars of investment in this platform, AND spending multi thousands on the new one. It would involve reconfiguring the server to run the new platform. We would have to recreate all of our graphics and templates from the ground up for the new platform, we would not be able to take our database of old posts OR users over to the new platform, so we'd start with Zero users and Zero threads and posts.
All in all, our investment in this software platform is large, and not just in dollars.
To change would basically mean erasing the TMF, it's decade of history, and starting over.
We really are not up for that sort of loss.

I subsequently confirmed that it had been properly posted, and that it was accessible.
This morning, I found that it had disappeared altogether! (No explanatory notification was received.)
At present (Friday evening), it is not listed under my threads, nor can it be found when searched for by name.

Two of the clips in that post violated the "no minors" rule. The thread had to be removed for cleaning and has been restored.

My first guess is that you need to do a browser cache/temporary internet files cleaning. It looks like the post box is stretching the page, which I don't see when I try to make a reply in IE (which I think you are using). The post reply box has a great deal of Javascript associated with it. Your browser may have cached the old version and that old cache is now causing problems. I would clear your temporary internet files, close the browser, and reopen it. Log in again, and see if that helps.

the last time. To quote someone,I have to hit the quote button twice.

Okay then. I used Firefox for this quote.I did not have to click the quote button twice. And the page did not get stretched.
