Need help to write a "chose your own adventure" story

www.writing.com is set up for "interactive stories." Accounts are free, but at the same time, there seems to be a lot of little "features" that seem designed to try and get you to spend money. Also, a lot of the "choose your own adventure" type of stories are basically excuses for badly written porn. But if you're willing to ignore all that, it's functional enough.

Ordinarily I'd agree with you, I hate the format simply because of how poorly implemented it ALWAYS is, but the OP is by i64ever and if anyone can get it right, it's him.
Good luck with your endeavor! It's funny, back a LONG LONG time ago (back in the newsgroup days) I wrote one that had to do with tickling Connie Chung as she read the telepromptor. I used a MS Word doc with macros to take the reader to different parts of the story based on their choices.
It never really got to many readers, I think cause people were either leery of enabling the macros (understandably) and not everyone had access to Word. Or maybe I was a crappy author..

I wrote a program to do this some years back. Still seems to work and was designed to produce a story of linked html pages without having to do the linking or put up with the "features" of writing.com.
If you complete the story I can export it out into a set of html files that can be hosted anywhere though the people who used it just wanted a story that kept on going.

I started working on one but couldn't get my head around the first person/third person shift needed for these things or I just bottled out on the writing. I can't remember which.

Ha. Sorry. Wasn't clear, there. I was referring to most of the work on that particular SITE in that format. I was casting no aspersions of any particular poster on THIS board.
