It stands for Color Rendering Index and refers to the ability of a light source to reproduce all the colors of the visible spectrum equally well.

So a sodium lamp that really only makes yellow light has a CRI=0 cause anything that isnt yellow look black pretty much under that light.

Sunlight has a CRI=100 cause it shows all colors equally well.

Yes that is correct. :) CFLs CRI range about 50-60. Energy Star rated ones have a CRI of about 80. There are some new ones that have CRIs around 90 but they are a bit pricey.

A tripod will certainly keep your camera more motionless than your own hands can. :D :p

Tripods are very helpful, especially for closeup photography and for older digitals that dont have image stabilization. :)

Image Stabilization only goes so far. Especially if you are doing close up photography. :)
