The Good Guys' next road trip was 12 games, and would take them to Pittsburgh, Chicago, St. Louis, and Colorado. It was one of their longest trips of the year. After splitting two games with Pittsburgh, the Paradise Islanders went to Chicago, taking two of three in a weekend series there. After losing two of three in St Louis, they split a four game Friday to Monday series in Denver. The Paradise Islanders were relieved to return home for 10 days in the third week of August to begin a ten day homestand against the West Coast teams. The Good Guys were in second place, five games behind the Braves and Phillies for the division lead, and two games out in the wild card. The team knew that they had just tread water all season, and needed a fine last month to overtake Atlanta and Philadelphia, both of whom they still had home and away series with in the season's last weeks.
Gil Bellows had pitched very well on the trip, and was establishing himself as a co-ace, to take some of the pressure of Kate Hudson's shoulders. In fact, Sniderman was beginning to trust Bellows so much, that he gave Kate an extra day of rest, and decided to start Bellows in the homestand opener against the Giants. Gil pitched a fine game to open a weekend series, allowing only two runs to the heavy hitting Giants lineup in six innings, as the Good Guys hit two homeruns, including a 7th inning three run blast by Mitch, in a 5-2 Good Guy win in front of 35,000 on a Friday night. The extra day of rest did Kate a world of good, as she was magnificent in her Saturday night outing against San Fran, allowing but one run and six hits in eight innings to the top hitting team in the league, as the Good Guys prevailed again, 4-1. The Paradise Islanders came close to a series sweep the next day, but it was not to be. Better than 50,000 jammed the park on a beautiful Sunday, and starter Alicia Silverstone pitched very well, allowing two runs in seven innings, and leaving with a 5-2 lead. The Giants, however, came back against the Good Guy bullpen, narrowing a 6-2 lead in the 8th against Mandy to 6-5, and winning the game with a 3 run Bonds homer in the 9th off Naomi. Nonetheless, the team had won two of three against a tough Giants team.
The next series was against the weak San Diego Padres, and the Good Guys took advantage of a last place team by sweeping a four game series with relative ease. Number four starter Britney Spears pitched six strong innings as the Good Guys hit three homers in a Monday night win, to prevail 5-1. The next night, the Good Guys number five starter was even better, throwing seven shutout innings in a game that was scoreless until the eighth, until the Good Guys pushed across two runs, for a 2-0 win. Gil Bellows took the hill for a Wednesday afternoon game, and, although he didnt have his best stuff, limited the Padres to three runs in seven innings, as the Good Guys used an 18 hit attack to crush the Padres 9-3. Kate Hudson would start the series finale on a Thursday evening in a game that began at 5:35pm to allow the Padres to get to Chicago early for a day game the following day. Two early homers that gave Kate a 4-0 lead by the third helped her relax, and she pitched six strong innings, allowing only one run, in a 6-1 Good Guys win, which completed a four game series sweep, and tied the Good Guys for first place with the slumping Phillies, with the Braves now a game behind in second.
The final series of the homestand would be against the LA Dodgers. With both teams having great starting pitching, it was not likely that the Good Guys would score very many runs in the series, so their pitching needed to be almost airtight. Alicia Silverstone opened the series by allowing only one run into the 7th on Friday night, in a
3-1 Paradise win. Britney Spears followed on Saturday afternoon with a solid game of her own, allowing two runs in 7 innings in an eventual 6-3 Good Guys victory. The homestand's final game was on a Sunday night for national TV. The extra few hours rest made Sniderman decide that he wanted to go for the jugular and the sweep with the tough West coast trip coming up, so he handed the ball to Gil Bellows with essentially 3 and a half days rest, since Bellows had last pitched Wednesday afternoon. Bellows justified his manager's confidence, allowing but 2 runs on only 3 hits in 7 innings, as the Good Guys hit two homeruns, in a 4-2 Good Guys triumph that was finished by Mandy. 40,000 people attended the Sunday night homestand finale, and the Good Guys had finished a superb homestand with a record of nine wins in ten games. They had gone from five games behind just a week earlier, to two games ahead in first place, picking up seven games in the standings in ten days, as Atlanta and Philadelphia had essentially both collapsed. The team had been treading water all season, and now seemed to finally be on track. All was not a bed of roses yet, as there was a tough ten game West coast trip forthcoming, but things looked much better for the team than they had just 11 days earlier.
In the meantime, the team gathered for its Saturday night tickle party at the hotel. After a gormuet dinner, and a night of gambling, the team retired to the suite that it kept in reserve at the hotel during the season. The featured ticklees of the evening were a casino pit boss, and a resturant hostess, both of whom knew the Good Guys well. The pit boss was a bit of a tough character, but the team always tipped her well when they had good streaks at the dice table, so she agreed to be tickled, even though she hated it. The pit boss and hostess were both tied hands and feet to the bed as Gil Bellows began the tickle on the pit boss' neck with fingers as the laughter began: Hahahahahahahaha! NO! Moving down, Bellows tickled the attractive but difficult pit boss on her sides, underarms and belly as more thrashing and laughter occurred: Hahahahahahahahaahahha! NO! NO! Working his way down her body, Bellows next tickled the bound pit boss on her inner thighs, causing her to buck. Finally, he got to the soles of the pit boss' bare feet. Gil attacked her bare feet with fingers, feathers, and a vibrating massager on the pit boss soles and over her toes. She howled with hysterical laughter, while flexing, pointing, and wiggling her toes. Hahahahahahahahahahaha! Oh my god! Enough already! Stop.. Stop tickling me! NO! NO! NO! Hahahahahahahaha!
Next came the attractive blonde hostess. The second baseman, Russell, began the tickle on her neck with fingers as the giggles began: Hehehehehehehehe! NO! Then, Russell moved down, tickling the pretty hostess on her sides, underarms, and belly with fingers as she trashed at her restraints: Hhehehehehehehehehehehehe! NO! NO! Working his way down, Russell tickled the blonde on her inner thighs, causing her to buck. Finally, he got to the soles of her feet. Russell launched a tickle assault on her feet with fingers, feathers, and the massager on her soles and over and under her toes. This drove the hostess beserk! She moved her toes every which way, as she filled the room with girlish squeals, and begged him to stop. Hehehehehehehehehehehe! Please no more! I give up! NO! NO! Please no! Hehehehehehehehehe! Finally, the tickle stopped, and both hotel employees were untied.
After a long stretch of inconsistent baseball, the Good Guys were finally playing up to their capabilities. They were in first place, and getting stronger every day. Next up would be a West Coast test before heading into the final month. What would happen next? Stay tuned for the continuing story of the Tickle Team from Paradise Island.

The End

Mitchell, this series is never replied to, always has the lowest amount of views on the page, and is very quickly off the front page. Do these facts mean anything to you?

Actually, caesar, you are not entirely correct in your assertion. My friend windowguy and I seem to be enjoying a sprited exchange about the series, and I enjoy writing it, so Iam going to keep going with it as long as I like, and not let other people's comments stop me from writing. I have just as much of a right to post things on here as others, and intend to keep doing so. I do not always agree with everyone or everything that goes on here, but respect the rights of others in their own self determination. It would be nice if people could do the same with me.
