The Good Guys went on a California road trip, and emerged with 5 wins and 5 losses on a ten game trip. They returned to Paradise on a Thursday, and had a off day before beginning a nine game homestand with Montreal, the Phillies, and the Reds, on Friday night. On the off day, something unthinkable happened. Naomi received a call from her agent about a possible lead part in an upmcoming movie. Although Naomi had not worked in the movies for a few years, the movie was set to be filmed in Miami, only an hour by plane from Nassau, so the agent figured there would be a way for her to do the movie, have time for family, and still fulfill her Good Guys home games obligations. Naomi said she would listen, and was faxed a script. The movie was a romantic comedy, something she hadnt done too often. Naomi read the script, and decided she liked it, and made arrangements to fly to Miami to meet with the producers early on Monday, which would allow her time to have the meeting, and jet back to Paradise for the 7:35pm game with the Phillies.
In the meantime, the Good Guys opened a nine game homestand on a Friday against Montreal with a solid effort by Alicia Silverstone, and two Paradise homeruns. That was enough, along with great relief from Mandy and Naomi, to secure a 4-2 win. Gil Bellows followed that outing by pitching 8 shutout innings on Saturday night in front of a near sellout. A homerun by Mitch in the last of the 8th with two on, and spectacular relief work again, brought the Good Guys a 3-0 combined shutout victory. Britney Spears took the hill on a humid Sunday, and struggled, giving up five runs in seven innings. The Good Guys gave it their best, rallying from 4 runs down to tie it in the 9th, but finally fell in the 11th when Mitch misjudged a routine fly ball.
On Monday, Naomi spent all day in Miami meeting with the producers, and was intrigued by what she heard. The movie was to be set in Miami, and feature two foreign advertising rivals who meet and fall in love. That night, Naomi received a call at home, and the person on the other end would serve to spark a tremendous ongoing problem. "Oh, Russell, how are you? What? They approached you too, and want two Australian actors to play in tne movie? How interesting. Well, its late now, so we can discuss this when we get to the park tomorrow night. Okay, goodbye" Mitch felt the anger rise in him as Naomi turned around with a nervous laugh. "Get this, sweetie, they want Russell to play my love interest in the movie, how interesting" Naomi said with a continued nervous giggle. Mitch shook his head. "If the kids werent sleeping. I swear I think I'd throw a fit at you, Naomi. Him?? Did you know this?? Did you!?" Mitch said, his voice rising.
"No, I didnt, and dont be giving me that tone like you're talking to a child" Naomi snapped. "I dont want you to take it if he's in it. Turn it down, or else" Mitch said. "Excuse moi? Do not threaten me, you controlling son of a bitch! I most certainly will not turn it down. I havent worked in the movies for years due to you. I have been your fuck toy, and wipe up girl to three small children. If I want to, I will take it, and you will just have to live with it, you male pompous ass!" Naomi snapped. "Of all the actors in the world. Why him? There are love scenes. Nude ones?" Mitch challenged. "Yeah, so what? I've done nude scenes since we've been married.
