Peter Jackson has picked Jack Black to play Carl Denham in his version of King Kong.
I never saw the original version of King Kong, but soon will, and hope Jackson can pull it off. Of course, after Return of the King, Peter Jackson can do anything!

Oh no...not another "King Kong"! I'm still trying to get the Dino DeLaurentiis version off of my shoes.
You MUST see the original! I've seen it countless times! Whenever someone's showing it on cable, I still don't miss it. Robert Armstrong played Carl Denham for all it was worth in the original.
Trust me, once you see it, you won't forget it.

Can't wait for that movie, yo.:)
There's a 1976 version with Jeff Bridges, but I ain't never seen it.
It only received two stars by my illegal satellite rating system, so I never bothered to watch it...
Besides, PJ can do no wrong after LOTR, so I'll just wait for his version instead.
Cheers.:D

The original Kong is and always will be one of the greatest films ever lensed. Stay miles away from the colorized version(Damn you to Hell, Ted Turner!). The DeLaurentis version from `76 is gawdawful, but fun in that guilty-pleasure kinda way(for me, anywho). Dispite the monumental achievement that was Jackson's "Lord of the Rings", I am a tad nervous about another remake of "King Kong"...:sowrong:

Another version of King Kong? That reaffirms my belief that Hollywood has run out of ideas for movies. Too many sequels and remakes.

King Kong is such a great story. it deserves to be retold for every generation. this will be the third version in 80 years, so i don't think we are being overun with King Kong films. When I first heard that Jack Black was going to play Carl Denham I was a little skeptical. I thought he was too young and too overanimated. But then again JB is about 35, so he really isn't that young. Plus the Denham character is an over the type vaudeville, con man type. And he is more so in Peter Jacksons script, which is set in the 30's and is close to the original. I think it is a good choice for the part. I was afraid they would maybe hire Tim Curry or Christopher Walken, good actors but they are in far too many films in the same type of roles. Jack Black and Naomi Watts. Now they just need to cast someone good for the Jack Driscoll part, which is well written in Jackson's script. I suggest Hugh Jackman or Viggo Mortenson. I would say Brendan Fraser but he is too obvious, with his roles in the Mummy movies.

Adrien Brody will play Jack Driscoll.
I've never seen him act, don't know if he is good or not.

...They'll STILL be hard-pressed to do better than Jessica Lange first tied with her arms over her head, then later topless! (and all I could think during that scene was, "Dammit, his fingers are too big to tickle her! GET HER, dammit!")
