The Good Guys embarked on a nine day West Coast road trip, emerging from the trip with a 4-5 record. After dropping two of three in San Fransisco, they won two of three in San Diego, and again dropped two of three in Los Angeles. The team returned home on the night before Labor Day to open a nine game homestand that would signal the start of the heated pennant race. On Labor Day, a crowd of over 50,000 showed up against the Mets, and the Good Guys did not disappoint, battering Tom Glavine, as Charlize Theron gained the win, 6-3. The next night, things went well for the Good Guys again, as Kate Hudson fired one run ball over eight innings, and Mitch hit a homerun, in a 4-1 Good Guy triumph. Gil Bellows went to the mound for a Wednesday matinee in front of 30,000, and he, too, fared well, pitching seven innings and allowing but two runs, in a 5-2 victory.
Thursday was an off day before a series with Atlanta was to begin on Friday night. The team had a light workout, Naomi worked on her movie, and then the players gathered at the casino for dinner and gambling.
The Braves came to town on Friday night. Neve Campbell took the start, but did not fare well, allowing six runs in five innings in an 8-4 setback. Melissa Gunther didnt do any better on Saturday, allowing four runs in four innings of a 5-0 loss. Charlize Theron tried to salvage the final game of the series with Atlanta on Sunday. She pitched well, allowing one run over seven innings. After Naomi pitched the eighth, Mandy Moore entered in the ninth to try and gain the save, before a screaming sellout crowd, with a 4-1 lead. She got the first out easily, but then, while pitching to the second Braves batter of the inning, felt something give in her arm, and fell to the ground in pain. The crowd fell silent as the Good Guy bullpen ace lay on the ground writhing in agony. Trainers came out, and Mandy was escorted to the clubhouse, and then taken to the hospital for xrays. Another pitcher finished the win over the Braves, but the Good Guys had more than just a regular season game with Atlanta at stake that day.
Mandy stayed at the hospital that night, as tests were taken, and xrays done on her arm. She would need to see a shoulder specialist, but the initial prognosis wasnt good. Mandy had strained her elbow ligament. It wasnt torn, but it could tear if she kept pitching with it that way. She was out, perhaps for the rest of the season, and the team needed to prepare for life without her.
On Monday, the team arrived at the park, with Mandy showing up with her arm in a sling. Sniderman called a team meeting:" Okay, we all know the situation. Mandy wont be able to pitch for a while. We all love her, and we'll all miss the contributions she makes on the field. We are a team, so we need to proceed with life on the field. Naomi, since you have experience, you are the closer in Mandy's absence, be it a week or the rest of the season. Also, with Mandy injured, Iam also putting her on the no tickle list. If she cant pitch, then she is in no condition to jerk around in ways that could risk further injury. Anyone caught tickling her in any way will be subject to fine and suspensions, understood?" Sniderman said. "Her feet arent injured, how bout we tickle just her feet?" Mitch said. "No, her feet are off limits too, besides, you have your own ticklish beautiful woman over there, Mitch, leave Miss Mandy alone" Sniderman said. "Yeah, what about me, husband?" Naomi said, testily. "Nah, you're old and not as ticklish as Mandy, we'd rather tickle her " Mitch shot back. "Well, too bad, because Iam your forever lee, so you better get used to it, big shot" Naomi said.
Then Naomi continued: "Mandy, I want to say that Iam so sorry you hurt yourself. You will be missed in the pen, but you rescued my ass plenty of times when I was the big closer and was injured, so now I'm going to help you out. Get well soon, sister, because I look forward to having you back with me in the pen soon"

Gil Bellows took his next turn on Tuesday. He allowed only one run into the eighth, but then, things fell apart, as Houston scored four in the ninth, for a 5-1 win. Wednesday was the final game of the homestand before the team went on a long three city road trip. Neve Campbell pitched, but was hammered, allowing five runs in four innings. The Good Guys trailed 5-0 at one point, rallied, and took the lead, with Naomi gaining the win, in a 7-5 Good Guy triumph. The team had finished another fine homestand, with the division title well in their sights.
The team, although not in the best of sprits due to Mandy's injury, held it's Saturday night tickle party. The featured lee was QVC attractive blonde host Christa Pitts, visiting the island on a memorabilia promotion tour. She was tied hands and feet to the bed in a bra and panties, as Gil Bellows began the tickle on her neck with fingers, and the giggles began: Hehehehehehehehehehehehehe! NO! Mvoing down, the catcher Barney attacked Christa's armpits, and down her sides and belly, as the pretty shopping hostess squealed and thrashed at her restraints: Hehehehehehehehehehehehehehe! NO! Ticklish! NO! Working the way down Christa's body, the second baseman Russell tickled Christa's inner thighs, causing her to buck. Then, Mitch sat at Christa's pretty feet, and tickled her soles with fingers, feathers and ice. This drove Christa beserk! She wiggled her toes every which way and squealed with girlish laughter, begging for mercy: Hehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehe! Please no more! I'm very ticklish! I give up! No! Please no! Hehehehehehehehehehehehehehe! Christa squealed, tears in her eyes. With that, the tickle stopped and the pretty hostess was untied.
