HAL NEEDS YOUR HELP!!!!!! (Please read)

Hello there!

I had a very strange computer crash today: It deleted WinWord, all my media players, my ZoneLab Firewall, my DSL-driver, and some other features. I can't post anything at the TMF, for example.

Now, I've managed to set up my basic system (Windows 98SE) and my internet driver again, but whenever I want to re-download the media players or other items, my computer refuses to open the .exe files: "Your trying to open ...octet/stream...", and it doesn't know how to open them.

Can anybody please help me in simple language, as I'm definitely an idiot when it comes to computers?

Thanks for posting this Jack, Hal asked me to also, but I was delayed in getting to a system to do it.

Hal your account is working fine. If you are having issues posting it sounds like a cookie issue. Your browser might be set to not accept them after the rebuild. Check there first. That might be the issue.

It also sounds like symptoms of the famous Win32 virus that has been getting shoved to people through emails.

Thanks for your support. I had to re-format my hard drive and lost almost all data, but luckily I've got back-ups for most. It'll take days to get everything back to business as usual, but at least I can go online again.
