Since a few weeks, a religious song is storming up the German charts. It's from a group called "Die Soehne Mannheims" (The Sons of Mannheim) who always deliver rather thoughtful lyrics. Here's a translation (it rhymes in German, but my English is not good enough to translate poetic texts):

Perhaps

I understand all doubts,
respect all beliefs;
I also distrust zeal.
Everybody should find happiness
in what he believes
or what he knows.
But the one I believe in
is the one I worship.

(Refrain): Perhaps they don't listen
or they can't see well.
Perhaps they have lost their way,
or they lack the courage.

I try to understand
what others see in you;
Why they start wars
and kill in your name;
why they force people
to die of a virus.
2000 years after you,
all's lying in shambles here.

(Refrain) Perhaps they...

Forgive my guilt
when I'll see you.
Until then I'll carry my sins
when I sleep or when I walk.
I don't want promises
that humans give to me
who'll break them again.
That's how humans are!

All that counts
is my connection to you
and it would be my end
if I ever lost it!

(Refrain) Perhaps they...

I'm an atheist, but that song really touches me. It's highly unusual for religious songs to make the international top ten charts in Germany. It's on 6th place this week (for comparison: Britney Spears is 4th with "Everytime").
