Please post here on various issues, from a conservative perspective and analysis.
No need for petty commentaries from those of other political inclinations. this isn't a debate thread.

I could be wrong, but it seems that the democrats are trying so hard to discredit Bush. I guess this is normal for an election year in which the incumbant is a Republican. I think all this muckraking will backfire on them. I really hope Bush wins the election, so we can continue the war against terror and not just let it languish.

In today's New York Times outlining conversations between agents of Saddam and Bin Ladin which would blow the whole lid wide open on this business of no proof of Iraq's ties to Al Kaeda. If anyone has access to it I would love to see it posted! I don't belong to the New York Times web page to receive archived articles.

i agree with you Drew. a change of administration could very well pose immenant danger to our homeland. losing Bush would not appease our enemies. but it would give them an easier time at destroying us.
and not only would a Kerry administration hurt us in that manner, we would also have today's ever changing set of relative values stuffed in our mouths.
same sex marriages; partial birth abortions on demand; reverses in affirmative action and welfare successes.
its a bleak possibility, i tell ya.

Dispite all the rallying and hype, the democrats all know that Kerry's chances of winning the election are slim, mostly because he flip-flops and changes direction like a wind vane. If they could come up with a solid candidate, we conservatives would be in big trouble. I'm convinced both of Clinton's victories were thanks to Ross Perot siphoning off the conservative votes.

I'm not sure if Ross Perot had as much of an effect on the Clinton elections as Nader may have had in the Bush election...things like that can be backed up with facts arguing both sides.
Despite being a Republican (now), I liked Clinton regardless of his personal life. I mean, come on...there are escort services in Washington that live off of Capitol Hill.
John Kerry, on the other hand, represents everything that has gone wrong with the Democratic Party. I once explained that I didn't switch parties because of anything fabulous that Bush did, but rather a deepening alienation within the party I once called mine.
He seems to be playing nothing but defense. The man needs to pick a cause, find a platform...hell, even decide if he's going to accept the nomination! That pissed me off. One of the things I held dear as a Democrat was our stand on Campaign reform, and then Kerry starts playing politics with money. "I'm not going to accept the nomination so I can get 75 million dollars...no wait, I am going to accept..." That's pretty much been his M.O.
What scares me about Kerry is his express desire to get more liberal judges on the bench. Just like the one from California (it's always one from California, ain't it?) who called the partial-birth abortion ban unconstitutional because "the pain of a fetus is irrelevant in the face of a woman's right to choose". (Her words, not mine...and by the way, I thank her for giving pro-lifers some legal ammo, having stated that a fetus feels pain, therefore making it a person) Liberals are all about "rights", but have no responsibility. People don't realize that you can have your civil rights just as easily trampled by judges who legislate from the bench as from something like the Patriot Act.
However, one thing that strikes me is that we even have a "Conservative" thread and a "Liberal" thread. Never in history have the two parties been so utterly polarized. It's like you have to be one or the other. Anyone remember when we used to work together?

From a local talk radio host -
"A Conservative is a Liberal that's been mugged."

Hello my fellow conservatives. I find that it is now very hard to be a conservative where I live. If I mention to anyone that I am voting for Bush I get slammed, called a Nazi, a Racist, Asshole. People tell me they hate this country and it breaks my heart because I love this country so much. People who compare Bush to hitler need a history lesson. I really do hope he wins. I would love to see all those hollywood halfwits and flakey liberals leave the country. What would also make me happy is too see Michael Moore getting his ass kicked, that would make a great movie.

Anyone remember Alec Baldwin saying he will leave the country if Bush was elected? Wonder if he ever did:rolleyes:

As someone who considers himself to have several conservative traits, I find political campaigning that takes the piss out of someone's personality or appearance to be distasteful. I see the Democrats have stooped so low as to do both.
If there are things they disagree with Gee Dubya on, let them comment on them! Don't piss about with stupid satire that turns the more intelligent of your own supporters off you. It just makes the Democrat PR department look like an extension of the Michael Moore fan club.
