Well, here's an update. Last week I posted here about how Farenheit 911 was not supposed to play in my area. I went to Regal Cinemas website, and posted a complaint about censorship. Apparently my comment and others must have had an effect, because in this morning's paper, the front page announced that Farenheit 911 is opening at our local cinema tomorrow. Those who are against Moore's message are welcome to stay away, but it would have been blatant censorship had Farenheit 911 not been allowed to play here, just due to the fact that local politicans are against its' message. Sometimes one just has to speak out in order to cause change. I look forward to seeing the movie. This should be a lesson to us all. If one's rights or freedom of speech is being violated, as long as you are not threatening anyone, or intending to cause someone harm, speak out. Sometimes the results can turn out more amazing than you think.

There's quite a difference between speaking out and lying.

Mitchell,

Censorship is a governmental policy that has nothing to do with a theaters decision to air a movie. What you did accomplished nothing. Regal has a limited number of contracts, they tend to go for family type movies not dubious documentaries. When the original release date for I, Robot fell in they needed a movie. F 911 is a big seller so they chose it.

It had nothing to do with your local government or anything you did. Same thing happened here.

I feel the need to respond to the comments posted here, even though I usually pass off such, and dont pay attention.
None of you live in Lancaster, PA, so you dont know the politics, or policy here. Iam a regular at our Regal cinema here, going there at least once a week, as I love movies. I was told specifically by the theater manager, who I know very well, that F 911 was not scheduled to be released here, due to the objections of local politicians. The theater told me that they didnt ever expect to get it, and directed me to Harrisburg if I wanted to see it. I know that not only myself, but many other theater patrons posted comments on the Regal cinema website, stating the censorship issue, and then it was announced in this morning's local paper that the film was opening.
I never said that my complaint was the reason the movie was released, yet I was subjected to the usual attacks and badgering that have become all too common on this board, which are becoming so outrageous at times, they are almost comical.
From now on, I suggest you know the facts of the situation before posting your usual attacking and negative comments, it would make you come across a lot more intelligent if you did.

Every time someone like you makes his thoughts known, it counts; no matter what the immediate response may be.

It's tempting to sink into apathy when it seems that nothing will make a difference in the current crazy political climate.

The "Might Makes Right" crowd is so loud & unpleasant that the rest of us wince and cover our ears.

Still, history has shown that continuing to make reasonable statements of moral justice can penetrate the din, and make a difference.

Thank you, button. Your supportive thoughts are greatly appreciated. It is good to know that someone here understands the meaning of what I and the others who complained were hoping to accomplish.

I have split the thread into a Moore, Oreilly and other sources thread where you may continue to debate..

This thread is about theaters not showing Moore's movie...was it or was it not censorship...etc.

Any other topics will be summarily deleted. This is exactly what we don't want...subjects getting lost with the debate of other topics.

This is the second such thread we have split to let you all continue discussion. In the future please stick to the thread topic or expect your posts to be deleted.

Start a new thread when changing subject or add to one of the several existing ones (in this case) on the same topic.

Thanks...

Ray
