Songs Ahoy (punk fans take note)

Hey all,
ever since the forum started I've been looking forward to something like this where we can just share ideas and thoughts without being screamed at for being off topic. This looks like the fastest growing section of the board. Anyway, favourite songs...

Bullet in the head - Rage

Killing in the name - Rage

Maria - Rage

Bulls on Parade - Rage (the list gets more interesting soon, bear with me...)

Punch in the face - Frenzal Rhomb (voted 'punkest band in the world' by Rolling Stone, go Oz punk!)

Richer than you - Frenzal

Freezeframe - Nancy Vandal (another kickass Aussie punk band, I think freezeframe is a cover of some old skankin' horn song)

Kickstart my Heart - Nancy Vandal (also a cover I believe)

YMCA - Nancy Vandal (hmmm, what a coincidence, their best songs are covers! Actual quote from lead guitarist: "we play really fast to cover the fact that we can't play our instruments")

Bikini High Pool Party Massacre - Nancy Boys yet again

We are disgruntled - Nancy Vandal (which I personally believe has the finest fake vomiting noises ever recorded)

Shit Squad - Nancy Vandal (it's all 70's style porno slap bass and keyboards, very funny)

Clean out your desk loneliness (you're fired) - Nancy Vandal

Piss in my weetbix - Nancy Vandal

Ray Martin has a Shed Full of Giant Robotic Killer Wasps - Nancy Vandal (displaying the traditional Oz punk tactic of naming your songs while drunk)

We're not getting any nuder - Nancy Vandal

Electricity - NoFX (coming to the gold coast for the big day out, I'm there baby!)

Perfect Government - NoFX

Champs Elysee - NoFX (a nice mix of horns and the language of love, french <not german, as many people think>)

California Uber Alles - Dead Kennedys

Home Entertainment System - Lazaros Dog

Ace of Spades - Motorhead (80's thrash rocks!)

Links 2, 3, 4 - Rammstein

Sehnsucht - Rammstein

God Save the Queen - Sex Pistols

Anarchy - Sex Pistols

My Way - Sex Pistols

Love Lies Bleeding - SonicAnimation

Greg, the stop sign - TISM

What nationality is Les Murray? - TISM

Anneliese Schmidt - Wizo (these guys fecking rock, german punk band from a couple of years ago. Maybe Hal knows them, I think he used to be a punk in germany)

Hey Thomas - Wizo

and if anybody debates the claim that these are the best songs ever, I'll see you behind the bike racks after school and we'll fight about it. Anyone feel the same as me about them?

Depends on my mood...

-Beethoven's 3rd Symphony "Eroica"
-"Ode To Joy" from Beethoven's 9th Symphony "Chorale"
-"Die Moldau" from Bedrich Smetana's work "Ma Vlast"
-"Ride of the Valkyries" from Richard Wagner's Ring operas - as a musical score for an air attack, there's nothing better.

Also traditional music from various places in Europe and 19th Century America, too many to list.

My taste in newer stuff is pretty similar to qjakal's.

Strelnikov

Hmmm...

No Moonlight Sonata or Fur delise or such...I'm surprised...of course I can't comment that much, I wasn't around when those were released...perhaps you tired of them back then very quickly...snicker?:p

Those of you listing concert music pieces as "favorite songs" are getting a bit off-topic, but as I prefer classical music anyway, here are some of my favorites.

1. Franz Liszt, Christus (I have hundreds of classical CD's, and this this three-hour oratorio is my alltime favorite)
2. Niels Gade, Symphony No. 1
3. Antonin Dvorak, Requiem & Stabat Mater & Te Deum
4. Tchaikovsky, all his symphonies
5. Richard Strauss, Ein Alpinesymphonie
6. Beethoven's 9th
7. Rachmaninoff, Symphony No. 2
8. Schubert's Unfinished
9. Philip Glass, Mishima soundtrack
10. Mahler, Das Klagendelied

I love almost every song by these bands:

Listening to these songs (which I still have on CD) takes me back to those days when the future was boundless and and every day an adventure! Being alive really meant something back then. It sure as fuck dont mean anything now.:(
