I have always been upset by the mass murder of millions of foriegners in capitalist wars and have always felt sorry for the thousands of us soldiers who died not wanting to fight in those wars.

But i got a call from my gf who was crying on the phone because a friend of hers was just killed in iraq. she wouldnt be crying and her friend would still be alive if it werent for the greed of a few lying rich assholes.

tens of thousands of iraqis who lost their lives as a direct result of this war would still be alive if it werent for the greed of a few lying, rich, assholes.

millions of iraqis would also still be alive if it werent for economic sanctions directed at the civilian population in the 90s all because of the evil of a few lying, rich, assholes.

hundreds of thousands of iraqis would still be alive if the few lying, rich, assholes decided not to embrance and help saddam hussiens rise to power because of his crushing of the democratic anti capitalist secular movements

hundreds of thousands of iranians would still be alive if it werent for the same few lying, rich, assholes who supported and created the iraq-iran war.

millions of iranians would be living in a democratic secular society if it werent for a few lying, rich, assholes who crushed irans first and last democratic government in 1953, their mistake? wanting to use irans oil for the benifit of the iranian people.

but it all leads up to a crying phonecall...

one of these days lying, rich, assholes your world of militarism, military coups, dictatorships, capitalist wars, racism, poverty, torture, and political opression will end...

Iam very sorry to hear about your girlfriend's friend, august. This is a sobering reminder to all of us that war is not just some drama that is being played out on tv or in the news, it is a real life circumstance with consequences for all of those who are tragically killed, and their families and friends.
I sympathize with your anger. I cant exactly say that I "understand" what you are going through, because thankfully no one who I know personally has died in this war. I will make this one statement, though, and yes, it is of course political.
We all know that we have our own political persuasions, and vote for who we feel is best for us. In all likelihood, the Bush supporters will remain with Bush, and the Democrats will vote with Kerry, but I do want to make one important point.
This war can serve as a strong persuasion for undecided voters. Anyone who may have even voted for Bush in 2000, and doesnt care for his policies now. (Believe me, I've run into a few people such as this) Or someone who may have voted for Nader, and this time wants their vote to count. I feel that undecided voters should have a serious look at this war, and think very, very carefully before casting their vote for president. August's point is a correct one. George W Bush does not have any people who are near and dear to him over in Iraq, so he cannot truly understand how it feels to lose a loved one. Sometimes I think politicians dont put themselves in the voters shoes when making a decision. If they did, it would cross their minds, "What would I do in this situation if my child or loved one was over in Iraq" August's anger is understandable, and I believe re-enforces my point about undecided voters being persuaded by the war. It will be interesting to see how it all turns out.
