........or rather for any Americans who feel that the U.K. is not supporting U.S. policy in Iraq, or that the U.K. is against what the U.S. is doing in Iraq.

Yet another U.K. soldier lost his life today in Iraq, bringing the total to 60. The U.K. media report all activity, good or bad, regarding U.S. forces in Iraq. However, speaking as a regular viewer of U.S. TV, I have noticed that the U.S. media does not give a monkies about U.K. efforts in Iraq, or indeed any other country.

Are you taking the piss or what?

Red sorry to hear about another U.K. soldier losing his life Now maybe the U.S. media doesn't report much on the activities of our U.K. allies, but I have seen some reports of their accomplishments (sp) and of the U.K. soldiers lives being lost I don't know how much of your time is spent watching the U.S. media, but why rot your brains out on Yank telley? :p

The BBC shows a lot more about us than American TV shows about them and I find they better coverage of the Americans as well...

I dont believe there are too many of us who feel that there has been a lack of support on the part of the UK...

It depends on how you look at it... The U.K. government has been very supportive of us. Many British citizens, however, feel as if they entered a war for mostly the Americans' benefit. I think this is very accurate for them to assume. They didn't have much to gain by aiding us, whereas we had plenty to gain from conquering Iraq. Now that we're basically running the show in Iraq, I can easily see why many Brits seem bitter about this war. If I were British, I'd be pissed....

......maybe its because I love you guys so much?!

As for wether it has been worth the effort of the U.K. supporting the U.S. I would say that depends very much on what the U.K. get out of it in the way of contracting work and so on. We deserve a stake in that clearly, but its very much down to U.S. largess. Lets hope the U.S. governement is not too greedy.

With the rather savage defence cuts being implemented by that effing clown, Geoff Hoon, I expect our contingement in Iraq will be reduced to a platoon of water boys before long. Among these cuts are 4 entire infantry battalions! This from an army already reduced to only just over thirty, 28 of which are understrength by anywhere from 50-200 men.

Quite frankly *five sense world mode engaged firmly* I think this government hasn't got a cucking flue what it's doing, or where it's going. They've single-handedly trebled the amount of work the British armed forces have to do in the world, and yet slashed their numbers by a quarter, including all the RAF's Jaguar planes, a squadron of it's Tornados, 15 vessels of the Royal Navy and the backbone of the fighting forces of the army. Why don't we just throw the fucking towel in and go 100% TA like the rest of Europe? :disgust:

....what a bunch of twats this government is. They send our lads off to war to risk their lives for queen and country and then they get back to find their P45,s on the door mat.Charming.

Can you imagine the U.S. government pulling a stunt like this during a war and hoping to get re elected?

During the war itself, in April last year. The BBC America channel over here showed proper objective news, interviewing from both sides, showing the facts from both sides, and maintaining neutrality. In other words keeping the public informed of what was going on, as a true news network should.

Switch to CNN. One word: LIVE!! Isn't live footage so much more exciting?? Not as informative, but it kicks ass! Right? Amidst reports from the huge number of war correspondants telling American public how "exciting" it all was, CNN showed a constant live picture of Baghdad, which was mostly a quiet nighttime view. In other words, getting ratings by turning the war into a reality TV action movie. Our current government knows that the US public loves it's fix of COPS every week. Why not gather support by giving them the same thing and calling it "war coverage?"

Imagine being a fly on the wall the CNN news room when the live shot is going on. "There's gonna be an explosion any minute now...any minute...any- shit! Guys, check if there's any reports coming in from the field! If there is, cut straight to them! If we don't see at least some devastaion in the next 5 minutes, people are gonna go looking for some real news!"
