It has just been announced that John Edwards has been named as John Kerry's running mate. I believe this was an incredibly smart choice by Kerry. Edwards is young, idealistic, handsome, and has true human feeling for the lower and middle class. In addition, I think Edwards has a terrific and lively personality to compliment John Kerry's somewhat dry and laid back demeanor.
Most important, from a political standpoint, Edwards will be a great asset to Kerry in key battleground states, especially in the south, where winning states is key to winning an election. Analyists likened this to John Kennedy in 1960, where Kennedy chose Johnson, whom he did not have as good a personal chemistry with as some others, but who he knew could bring him key states in the south, and propel him to victory, which it did in that very close election that year. There has been talk that perhaps the personal chemistry between Kerry and Edwards may not be as good as some of the other choices, but Kerry, like John Kennedy did in 1960, chose Edwards because he knew it will give him the best chance to win, and could be a key in what should be a very close election in 2004.
Iam personally thrilled with the choice. In my opinion, I had thought that perhaps the Democrats should have picked Edwards for president, but VP is fine. Hopefully, if they win and do a good job, Edwards will be president in 2013, at which time he'll be just 60. I hope we can have 16 years of these men to get the country on track.
So, there we go. Let the battle begin, and hopefully for us Democrats, this dream team ticket will be the key to saying sayanora to Bush and Dick come November.

Senator Kerry has just offically announced in Pittsburgh that John Edwards is his running mate. This seems to be a popular choice amongst Democrats.

I'm laughing. This morning, very early this morning, the New York COMPost hit the streets with headlines announcing Kerry picking Gephardt, four hours before the announcement. Dewey Defeats Truman.

I SAW that. Way to go POST.

As for the announcement..smartest thing Kerry has done to date. John Edwards is the closest we can come to a "good" politician..

I'm happy, because I think Gephardt's the reason the Democratic Party needs to flush out the deadwood. I think he'd be a liability. I'm prejudiced, I've never liked Dick Gephardt anyway.

Dick Nixon. Dick Cheney. Dick Gephardt. Too many politicians who are Dicks.

Knox, my good friend. I saw the Post headline. Major blunder there! LOL! I agree with you about Dick Gephardt. Nice guy, dead wood. He's been there too many years, and I think is too nice and wimpy. Edwards is a fresh face, has a lot of energy, and, as I said, will nicely compliment Kerry's drier and laid back personality. Edwards was my top choice for VP ever since we knew Kerry was going to win. Now we just have to get moving to beat Bush and Dick!

Let us hope that Edwards is the key to winning the south (or at least part of it) for the Democrats during this election. Who knows, my state might even wake up for once.... but I'm not holding my breath....

Amen to that Macphisto. (About the Democrats winning some southern states) Tonight they showed a map of the 2000 election, and Bush swept the south, so lets hope that this time Edwards will help the Democrats win at least some states there. I believe that they need at least a couple in the South to take this election.
