I was in line yesterday at a corporate cafeteria when I heard the tail end of the following conversation:

Person A: "I've belonged to TMF for years..."
Person B: "I usually check out a few times a day...but not when anyone's watching"
Person A: Have you been to any of the get togethers?
Person B: No, have you?
Person A: I've heard they're pretty good, but it depends on where they're being held.
Person B: I get a lot of great tips from there
Person A: You get a lot of arguing though...
Person B: ...well, when you're talking stocks of course people get a little crazy

It took a minute to figure out that they were talking about the OTHER TMF..."The Motley Fool" :)

But you can imagine, for a moment I was really taken aback!

Cheers,
Stacy

...we'd gotten the ball rolling again here on the West Coast, and it was like our second or third Munch. I asked the Hostess to direct anyone asking for me or the TMF Group to our table, and she asked what "TMF" stood for... I wanted to tell her! OMG did I want to tell her! She was a little Barbie doll with one of those shirts on that barely reaches the waist of the pants, so anytime they reach or raise their arms, you get a yummy peek of belly. But I couldn't bring myself to tell the truth. We're all sitting around the table looking at each other, hemming and hawwing... we finally came up with "Totally.... uh.... Mobile.... er... Friends!" Yeah, that's it, there ya go. Oh brother! Lame! And who knows... she coulda been one of us. :(

Wow, Stacy. I can see how when someone says "TMF", it can definitely make you think for a minute! I've never even heard of "The Motley Fool" before. Anytime someone says:" TMF" I automatically think of this site. Very interesting experience! LOL!
Please check your private messages when you get a chance. I left you a message in there. Take care, hope to hear from you soon. Happy tickling!

Mitch

yeah, when i play my computer games, i hear people say the TMF alot. and i almost burst at the seams till i find out their TMF is a clan for an online game.other times i see players named gripped chimp, chesire cat, TIB, and other famous names around here and i stupidly ask if they know the TMF. and they ask what's that. so i smartly reply, Terran Mobile Force, like it's from a game or something, lol.

if my money was invested in risky stocks, i wouldn't trust anyone with the word "Fool" in their name.

I sure The Motley Fool would not be pleased to hear that... If you read the Sunday Newspaper, and TMF is in there, he will explain who he is and what he does. He gives pretty good tips:D

Cute anecdote, Stacy. Imagine if you rushed in before realizing which TMF site was the topic.

Say, any update on that guy you teased, only to find out he was your blind appointment later in the day?

I've had something like this happen before only it was a tv channel called TMF which I found out meant (to my dissapointment) The Music Factory.

Actually, nothing more to tell (sorry, I lead a terribly boring life <grin>) The project was passed to another organization and so I'm working with a whole set of people -- with sandals on -- for now ;)

Cheers,
Stacy
