U2---One Life

This has always resonated with me...still not sure why, but it affects me in a variety of ways, depending upon my current mood...

One

Is it getting better
Or do you feel the same
Will it make it easier on you now
You got someone to blame
You say...

One love
One life
When it's one need
In the night
One love
We get to share it
Leaves you baby if you
Don't care for it

Did I disappoint you
Or leave a bad taste in your mouth
You act like you never had love
And you want me to go without
Well it's...

Too late
Tonight
To drag the past out into the light
We're one, but we're not the same
We get to
Carry each other
Carry each other
One...

Have you come here for forgiveness
Have you come to raise the dead
Have you come here to play Jesus
To the lepers in your head

Did I ask too much
More than a lot
You gave me nothing
Now it's all I got
We're one
But we're not the same
Well we
Hurt each other
Then we do it again
You say
Love is a temple
Love a higher law
Love is a temple
Love the higher law
You ask me to enter
But then you make me crawl
And I can't be holding on
To what you got
When all you got is hurt

One love
One blood
One life
You got to do what you should
One life
With each other
Sisters
Brothers
One life
But we're not the same
We get to
Carry each other
Carry each other

One...life

Garryowen

1. Let Bacchus' sons be not dismayed
But join with me, each jovial blade
Come, drink and sing and lend your aid
To help me with the chorus:

Chorus:
Instead of spa, we'll drink brown ale
And pay the reckoning on the nail;
No man for debt shall go to jail
From Garryowen in glory.

2. We are the boys who take delight
In smashing limerick lamps at night,
And through the street like sportsters fight,
Tearing all before us
Chorus:

3. We'll break the windows, we'll break down doors,
The watch knock down by threes and fours,
And let the doctors work their cures,
And tinker up our bruised
Chorus:

4. We'll beat the bailiffs out of fun,
We'll make the mayor and sheriffs run
We are the boys no man dares dun
If he regards a whole skin.
Chorus:

5. Our hearts so stout have got us fame
For soon 'tis known from whence we came
Where'er we go they fear the name
Of Garryowen in glory.
Chorus:

Pinch Me - by The Barenaked Ladies

It's the perfect time of year
Somewheere far away from here
I feel fine enough I guess
Considering everything's a mess
There's a restaurant down the street
Where hungry people like to eat
I could walk but I'll just drive
It's colder than it looks outside

(chorus) It's like a dream you try to remember but it's gone
Then you try to scream, but it only comes out as a yawn
When you try to see the world beyond your front door
Take your time, 'cause the way I rhyme's
Gonna make you smile
When you realize that a guy my size might take a while
Just try to figure out what all this is for

It's the perfect time of day
To throw all your cares away
Put the sprinkler on the lawn
And run through with my gym shorts on
Take a drink right from the hose
Change in to some drier clothes
Climb the stairs up to my door
And sleep away the afternoon

(chorus)

Pinch me, pinch me 'cause I'm still asleep
Please God tell me that I'm still asleep

On an evening such as this,
It's hard to tell if I exist
If I pack the car and leave this trown
Who'll notice that I'm not around?
I could hide out under there
I just made you say underwear
I could leave, but I'll just stay
All my stuff's here anyway

(chorus)

Lyrics

Sittin' on your ass all day, thinking bout your hangover and the party you left your fuckin' keys and had to beg for, a ride from a stranger that I never met before. He acted so friendly that I had to take the ride, but for some reason he resembled that guy, wanted for a robbery and beatin' on his kids "You remind me of my stepson" he chuckled with a grin.....

It happens way to often, eyes closed and mouth forced open. You always seem confused, hands up and now youve proved that when, you kick my ass, but please dont hit my face, so I can laugh.....

Funny feeling my guts intuition doesn't know no bravery could convince you to morally say no your explanation hasn't gone over yet but I'll give you one more chance to open up and just let go. There's no easier way out of this place Im claiming this lie to you face to face thats no way for you to treat Me someone you chose to lie to all these years. There is no other title that I can find for us even though you can't believe that this can't work and bleed and breath and beeeeeee for us your interpretation of My expectations caught up in your picture frame has defined My eyes and made Me turn up and down inside.

-Nonpoint and Nothingface

yes

The song bro hymn tribute has very good lyrics. I dont feel like typing them so look at my signature

Pantera-Live in a hole

The first time I heard these lyrics, I immediately felt a connection to them. One line in particular:

"I promised myself
Somewhere in teenage life
I'd never submit
To the ones I will not be like"

Many connotations can be taken from that line in all aspects of my life. Another song (same band and album) is the song 'Walk':

"You can't be something you're not"

That one line alone is a standard to live by.

ARRR!

So it's a pirate song ye want, matey?

The Maid of Amsterdam

In Amsterdam there lived a maid,
Mark well what I do say.
In Amsterdam there lived a maid
Who was always finishing a sailor's trade,
I'll go no more a-roving with you, fair maid.

Chorus:
A-roving, a-roving, since roving's been my ruin,
I'll go no more a-roving with you, fair maid.

I took the maiden for a walk,
Mark well what I do say.
I too k the maiden for a walk,
She want some gin and didn't she talk,
I'll go no more a-roving with you, fair maid.
Chorus:

She said, "You sailors, I love you so,"
Mark well what I do say.
"All you sailors, I love you so,"
And the reason why, I soon did know,
I'll go no more a-roving with you, fair maid.
Chorus:

She placed her hand upon my knee,
Mark well what I do say.
She placed her hand upon my knee,
I said, "Young lass, you're rather free,"
I'll go no more a-roving with you, fair maid.
Chorus:

I gave this miss a parting kiss,
Mark well what I do say.
I gave this miss a parting kiss,
When I got aboard, my money I missed,
I'll go no more a-roving with you, fair maid.
Chorus:

Arrr! WE all know what ter do wi' the likes of The Maid, do we not, me hearties? Tis a shame the poor lad never gave thought that not all pirates hoist the Jolly Roger, some just hoist their petticoats. It's up to us, lads, ter tickle the yo-ho-ho out o' her.

Descendants - "I'm The One"

Chorus:
I'm the one
I've been there for you all along
I'm the one
Whose should you've been cryin' on

Verse 1:
Nice guys finish last
No one knows as good as me
We're just good friends
And you come to me for sympathy
You tell me that I'm not your type
Still you call me late at night
Every time he picks a fight
After all he's said and all he's done

Verse 2:
He's a total dick
That's the truth and you know I'm right
From everything you say and do
There's no way he'll ever do you right
You love a man who treats you wrong
You think you'll change him
But you're wrong
He'll use you and he'll say so long
After all he's said and all he's done

Verse 3:
I'm the one who wants you more than anything
You don't feel the same way you made it clear to me
But I'll stand my ground and maybe
You'll hear what I've been sayin'
After all I've said and all I've done

------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm living a situation JUST like that right now. Go figure, heh.

Everlast - What it's Like

I guess my name gives away how much I like this guy......but, it wasn't always that way........I heard this song on the radio when I was in the city (NYC) with my sister awhile back......and for some reason, it just hit me deeply.........this song was one of the reasons I picked up a guitar.........and it still means the same to me today as when I first heard it.........

We've all seen a man at the liquor store beggin' for your change
The hair on his face is dirty, dread-locked, and full of mange
He asks a man for what he could spare, with shame in his eyes
"Get a job you fucking slob," is all he replies
God forbid you ever had to walk a mile in his shoes
'Cause then you really might know what it's like to sing the blues

Then you really might know what it's like...
Then you really might know what it's like...
Then you really might know what it's like...
Then you really might know what it's like...

Mary got pregnant from a kid named Tom that said he was in love
He said, "Don't worry about a thing, baby doll
I'm the man you've been dreaming of."
But 3 months later he say he won't date her or return her calls
And she swear, "God damn, if I find that man I'm cuttin' off his balls."
And then she heads for the clinic and
she gets some static walking through the door
They call her a killer, and they call her a sinner
and they call her a whore
God forbid you ever had to walk a mile in her shoes
'cause then you really might know what it's like to have to choose

Then you really might know what it's like...
Then you really might know what it's like...
Then you really might know what it's like...
Then you really might know what it's like...

I've seen a rich man beg
I've seen a good man sin
I've seen a tough man cry
I've seen a loser win
And a sad man grin
I heard an honest man lie
I've seen the good side of bad
And the downside of up
And everything between
I licked the silver spoon
Drank from the golden cup
And smoked the finest green
I stroked the fattest dimes at least a couple of times
before I broke their heart
You know where it ends, though, it usually depends on where you start

I knew this kid named Max
He used to get fat stacks out on the corner with drugs
He liked to hang out late
he liked to get shit-faced and keep the pace with thugs
Until late one night there was a big gun fight and Max lost his head
He pulled out his chrome .45, talked some shit, and wound up dead
Now his wife and his kids are caught in the midst of all of this pain
You know it crumbles that way
at least that's what they say when you play the game
God forbid you ever had to wake up to hear the news
'Cause then you really might know what it's like to have to lose

Then you really might know what it's like...
Then you really might know what it's like...
Then you really might know what it's like...to have to lose

I'm a lazy bastardo...

So I'm not going to post all the lyrics... you guys have surely heard the song before.

"I Believe the sun should never set upon an argument,
I Believe we place our happiness in other people's hands
I believe that junk food tastes so good because it's bad for you
I Believe our parents did the best job they knew how to do..."

Savage Garden, Affirmation...one of the very best of humanity's collective song library.

"Judith" by A Perfect Circle

You're such an inspiration for the ways
That I'll never ever choose to be
Oh so many ways for me to show you
How the savior has abandoned you
F*ck your God
Your Lord and your Christ
He did this
Took all you had and
Left you this way
Still you pray, you never stray
Never taste of the fruit
You never thought to question why

It's not like you killed someone
It's not like you drove a hateful spear into his side
Praise the one who left you
Broken down and paralyzed
He did it all for you
He did it all for you

Oh so many many ways for me to show you
How your dogma has abandoned you
Pray to your Christ, to your god
Never taste of the fruit
Never stray, never break
Never---choke on a lie
Even though he's the one who did this to you
You never thought to question why

Not like you killed someone
It's Not like you drove a spiteful spear into his side
Talk to Jesus Christ
As if he knows the reasons why
He did it all for you
Did it all for you
He did it all for you

I felt this same way after my accident with people telling me:
"It's all a part of God's plan"

That was when I became an atheist.

Great Song Qjakal

For the rest of my life I’ll remember that song sung on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial on the New Years Eve of Y2K. “One” was the feeling since the news stations were going country by country, hour by hour, around the world joyfully avoiding disaster from the much-feared Y2K bug. I had never felt such oneness with the world then at that moment.

Also, what a great setting at the capital. President Clinton was far from perfect, but you gotta love him for being our most musician friendly president. :)

Wow.....

Quite a range of songs and emotions here, hmm? I'm surprised this thread didn't get some of the lurkers out into the light for a few minutes...music is just so universal. Q

By the way Everlast...I'm too old to like that tune...and yet the chorus has always haunted me.

love this song

PIANO MAN
Billy Joel

It's nine o'clock on a Saturday
the regular crowd shuffles in
There's an old man sitting next to me
Makin' love to his tonic and gin
He say, Son can you play me a memory
I'm not really sure how it goes
But it's sad and it's sweet and I knew it complete
When I wore a younger man's clothes
Da da da de de da
da da de de da da da
Sing us a song, you're the piano man
sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright
Now John at the bar is a friend of mine
He gets me my drinks for free
And he's quick with a joke or to light up your smoke
But there's someplace that he'd rather be
He says Bill, I believe this is killing me
As the smile ran away from his face
Well I'm sure that I could be a movie star
If I could get out of this place
Sing us a song, you're the piano man
sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright
Now Paul is a real estate novelist
Who never had time for a wife
And he's talking with Davy who's still in the navy
And probably will be for life
And the waitress is practicing politics
As the businessmen slowly get stoned
Yes, they're sharing a drink they call loneliness
But it's better than drinking alone
It's a pretty good crowd for a Saturday,
And the manager gives me a smile
'Cause he knows that it's me they've been coming to see
To forget about life for awhile.
And the piano sounds like a carnival
And the microphone smells like a beer
And they sit at the bar and put bread in my jar
And say "Man, what are you doin' here?"
Da da da de de da
da da de de da da da
Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight.
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

this song is just funny
Tenacious D
Fuck Her Gently

This is a song
for the ladies
but fellas... listen closely

You don't have to fuck her hard
in fact sometimes that's not right to do..
Sometimes u got to make some love
and fuckin give her some smooches too..
Sometimes you got to squeeze..
Sometiems you got to say "Please"..
Sometimes you gotta say "Hey,"
"I'm gonna fuck you.. softly"
"I'm gonna screw you gently"
"I'm gonna hump you sweetly"
"I'm gonna ball you discreetly"
and then you say "Hey, I brought you flowers"
and then you say "Wait a minute Sally,"
"I think I got sometin' in my teeth could you get it out for me?"
That's fuckin' teamwork!
What's your favorite posish?
That's cool with me, It's not my favorite but I'll do it for you.
What's your favorite dish?
I'm not gonna cook it but I'll order it from ZANZIBAR!
And then I'm gonna love you completely
Then I'll fucking fuck you discreetly
and then I'll fuckin bone you completely
but then I'm gonna fuck... you hard.....
Hard........

It's the south of my childhood. Touches a sweet chord with me that gives me a sad smile. Too many songs to be listed in this thread for folks like me who have music going 24/7 in their homes. This is simply my favorite of today.

I Am A Town

Mary Chapin Carpenter
-------------------------
I'm a town in Carolina, I'm a detour on a ride
For aphone call and a soda, I'm a blur from the driver's side
I'm the last gas for an hour if you're going twenty-five
I am Texaco and tobacco, I am dust you leave behind

I am peaches in September, and corn from a roadside stall
I'm the language of the natives, I'm a cadence and a drawl
I'm the pines behind the graveyard, and the cool beneath their shade, where the boys have left their beer cans
I am weeds between the graves.

My porches sag and lean with old black men and children
Their sleep is filled with dreams, I never can fulfill them
I am a town.

I am a church beside the highway where the ditches never drain
I'm a Baptist like my daddy, and Jesus knows my name
I am memory and stillness, I am lonely in old age; I am not your destination
I am clinging to my ways
I am a town.

I'm a town in Carolina, I am billboards in the fields
I'm an old truck up on cinder blocks, missing all my wheels
I am Pabst Blue Ribbon, American, and "Southern Serves the South"
I am tucked behind the Jaycees sign, on the rural route

I am a town
I am a town
I am a town
Southbound.

Bruce Springsteen Thunder Road

Not just my favorite song, but it's something I think everyone needs to hear as they make the transformation from child to adult.

The screen door slams
Mary's dress waves
Like a vision she dances across the porch
As the radio plays
Roy Orbison singing for the lonely
Hey that's me and I want you only
Don't turn me home again
I just can't face myself alone again
Don't run back inside
darling you know just what I'm here for
So you're scared and you're thinking
That maybe we ain't that young anymore
Show a little faith, there's magic in the night
You ain't a beauty, but hey you're alright
Oh and that's alright with me

You can hide `neath your covers
And study your pain
Make crosses from your lovers
Throw roses in the rain
Waste your summer praying in vain
For a savior to rise from these streets
Well now I'm no hero
That's understood
All the redemption I can offer, girl
Is beneath this dirty hood
With a chance to make it good somehow
Hey what else can we do now
Except roll down the window
And let the wind blow back your hair
Well the night's busting open
These two lanes will take us anywhere
We got one last chance to make it real
To trade in these wings on some wheels
Climb in back
Heaven's waiting on down the tracks
Oh oh come take my hand
Riding out tonight to case the promised land
Oh oh Thunder Road, oh Thunder Road
oh Thunder Road
Lying out there like a killer in the sun
Hey I know it's late we can make it if we run
Oh Thunder Road, sit tight take hold
Thunder Road

Well I got this guitar
And I learned how to make it talk
And my car's out back
If you're ready to take that long walk
>From your front porch to my front seat
The door's open but the ride it ain't free
And I know you're lonely
For words that I ain't spoken
But tonight we'll be free
All the promises'll be broken
There were ghosts in the eyes
Of all the boys you sent away
They haunt this dusty beach road
In the skeleton frames of burned out Chevrolets

They scream your name at night in the street
Your graduation gown lies in rags at their feet
And in the lonely cool before dawn
You hear their engines roaring on
But when you get to the porch they're gone
On the wind, so Mary climb in
It's a town full of losers
And I'm pulling out of here to win.

here's a song about a guy who is tired of playing games and wants to find a "true love". this song brings back memories.. the lyrics are from memory, so i hope i got them exactly right...

I NEED LOVE by LL Cool J

when i'm alone in my room
sometimes i stare at the wall
and in the back of my mind
i hear my conscious call
telling me i need a girl
who's as sweet as a dove
for the first time in my life
i see i need love

there i was
giggling about the games
that i played with many hearts
and i'm not saying no names
then the thought occurred to me
drops tears to my eyes word
i said to myself,
look what your done to her
i can feel it inside
i cant explain how i feel
all i know is that
i will never dish a raw deal
playing make believe
pretending that i'm true
hoping in my laugh
is that i'll say that i love you
saying it more
kissing you on the ear
whispering i love you
and i will always be here
although i often reminesce
i cant belive that i found
a desire for true love floating around
inside my soul because my soul is cold
one half of me deserves
to be this way till i'm old
but the other half,
needs affection and joy
and the warmth that is created
by a boy and a girl

I NEED LOVE

romance seeing the light how sweet
i got to find me a girl to make my life complete
you can scratch my back
we'll get cozy and huddle
i'll lay down my jacket
so you can walk over a puddle
i'll give you a rose
pull out your chair before we eat
kiss you on the cheek
and say oh girl you're so sweet
it's deja vu
whenever i'm with you
i could go on forever telling you what i do
but where ya at
you're neither here nor there
i swear i cant find you anywhere
damn sure aint in my closet
or under my rug
this love search
is really making me bug
so if you know who you are
why dont you make yourself seen
take a chance with my loving
you'll find out what i mean
fantasies can run
but they cant hide
and when i find you
i'm a pour all my love inside

I NEED LOVE

i want to kiss you
hold you
never scold you
just love you
suck on your neck
carress you and rub you
grind, moan
and never be alone
if you're not standing next to me
you're on the phone
cant you hear it in my voice
i need love bad
i got money but love
something i never had
i need your ruby red lips
sweet face and all
i love your more than a man
who's ten feet tall
i watch the sunrise
in your eyes
we're so in love when we hug
we become paralyzed
our bodies explode
and ecstacy unreal
you're as soft as a pillow
and i'm as hard as steel
it's like a dreamland
i cant lie
i never been there
maybe this is an experience
that me and you can share
clean, unsoil
yet sweaty and wet
i swear to you
this is something i'll never forget

I NEED LOVE

see what i mean
i'm changed and no longer
a playboy on the run
i need something that's stronger
friendship, trust
honor,respect, admiration
this whole experience
has been such a revelation
it's taught me love
and how to be a real man
to always be considerate
and do all i can
protect you, you're my lady
and you mean so much
my body tingles all over
from the slightest touch
of your hand and understand
i'll be frozen in time
till we meet face to face
and you tell me you're mine
if i find you girl
i swear i'll be a good man
i'm not going to leave it
in destiny's hand
i cant sit and wait for my princess to arrive
i got to struggle and fight
to keep my dream alive
i search the whole world for that special girl
when i finally find you
watch our love unfurl

I NEED LOVE

girl listen to me
when i be sitting in my room all alone
staring at the wall
fantasies that go through my mind and,
i come to realize that
i need true love
and if you want to give it to me girl
make your self seen
i'll be waiting
i love you.....

For some reason I think of us whenever I play this tune...

Freaks By Marillion

Have you ever met a lady,
Screaming angst potential?
Have you ever dreamed of romance,
No matter how experimental?
Have you ever felt an alien
Drifting back into your hometown?
Did you think you were buying safety
When you bought that piece of ground?

She said "All the best Freaks are here,
All the best Freaks are here,
Please stop staring at me..."

Have you ever woke up,
Sweating in the middle of the night?
You search the darkness and you're
Scrambling for the light.
Have you ever walked down the street,
Felt bootsteps following you?
Don't woory, son..
You've got the Spook Squad looking after you;

He said "All the best Freaks are here,
All the best Freaks are here,
Please stop staring at me."
So I said "All the best Freaks are here,
All the best Freaks are here,
Please stop staring at me."

Airport terminal
Patiently waiting on the last call
You feel the eyes
Burn the back of your head
Sign the autograph, get outta the picture
Gonna have the last laugh
Feel the whispers as you head for the plane...

Stop staring at me...

Love and Linen sheets
Seem so very far away,
You save your pennies and you
Buy another day;
But after all, it's only hide and seek,
Just another game.
There's so much fun to have
When you're living with a name

They say "All the best Freaks are here,
All the best Freaks are here,
Please stop staring at me."
So I said "All the best Freaks are here,
All the best Freaks are here,
Please stop staring at me...."

Never a dull moment with Marillion lyrics.

Here's one that I've liked since college, ,one of my favorite "Anthems of Defiance":

Heart of Steel by Manowar
from the album Kings of Metal

Build a fire a thousands miles away
To light my long way home
I ride a comet
My trail is long to stay
Silence is a heavy stone
I fight the world and take all they can give
There are times my heart hangs low
Born to walk against the wind
Born to hear my name
No matter where I stand I'm alone

Stand and fight
Live by your heart
Always one more try
I'm not afraid to die
Stand and fight
Say what you feel
Born with a heart of steel

Burn the bridge behind you
Leave no retreat
There's only one way home
Those who laugh and crowd the path
And cut each other's throats
Will fall like melting snow
They'll watch us rise with fire in our eyes
They'll bow their heads
Their hearts will hang low
Then we'll laugh and they will kneel
and know this Heart of Steel was
Too hard to break
Too hard to bold

Stand and fight
Live by your heart
Always one more try
I'm not afraid to die
Stand and fight
Say what you feel
Born with a heart of steel

Then there's this number that reminds me of my darker days of depression and my vow never to go back:

Crucify by Tori Amos
from the album Little Earthquakes

Every finger in the room is pointing at me
I wanna spit in their faces
Then I get afraid what that could bring
I got a bowling ball in my stomach
I got a desert in my mouth
Figures that my courage would choose to sell out now.
I've been looking for a savior in these dirty streets
Looking for a savior beneath these dirty sheets
I've been raising up my hands
Drive another nail in
Just what God needs
One more victim

Why do we crucify ourselves
Every day I crucify myself
Nothing I do is good enough for you
Crucify myself
Every day I crucify myself
And my heart is sick of being in chains

Got a kick for a dog beggin' for love
I gotta have my suffering
So that I can have my cross
I know a cat named Easter
He says will you ever learn
You're just an empty cage girl if you kill the bird
I've been looking for a savior in these dirty streets
Looking for a savior beneath these dirty sheets
I've been raising up my hands
Drive another nail in
Got enough guilt to start
My own religion

Why do we crucify ourselves
Every day I crucify myself
Nothing I do is good enough for you
Crucify myself
Every day I crucify myself
And my heart is sick of being in chains

Please be
Save me
I cry
Looking for a savior in these dirty streets
Looking for a savior beneath these dirty sheets
I've been raising up my hands
Drive another nail in
Where are those angels
When you need them

Why do we crucify ourselves
Every day I crucify myself
Nothing I do is good enough for you
Crucify myself
Every day I crucify myself
And my heart is sick of being in chains
Why do we ...
... chains ...
Crucify ourselves
Everyday
Never going back again
Crucify myself again
Never going back again to
Crucify myself
Everyday

And then there's this one, that just about sums up my love life, or lack thereof:

Mad About You by Sting
from the Album The Soul Cages

A stone's throw from Jerusalem
I walked a lonely mile in the moonlight
And though a million stars were shining
My heart was lost on a distant planet
That whirls around the April moon
Whirling in an arc of sadness
I'm lost without you, I'm lost without you
Though all my kingdoms turn to sand and fall into the sea
I'm mad about you, I'm mad about you

And from the dark secluded valleys
I heard the ancient songs of sadness
But every step I thought of you
Every footstep only you
Every star a grain of sand
The leavings of a dried up ocean
Tell me, how much longer,
How much longer?

They say a city in the desert lies
The vanity of an ancient king
But the city lies in broken pieces
Where the wind howls and the vultures sing
These are the works of man
This is the sum of our ambition
It would make a prison of my life
If you became another's wife
With every prison blown to dust
My enemies walk free
I'm mad about you, I'm mad about you

And I have never in my life
Felt more alone than I do now
Although I claim dominions over all I see
It means nothing to me
There are no victories In all our histories
Without love

A stone's throw from Jerusalem
I walked a lonely mile in the moonlight
And though a million stars were shining
My heart was lost on a distant planet
That whirls around the April moon
Whirling in an arc of sadness
I'm lost without you, I'm lost without you

And though you hold the keys to ruin of everything I see
With every prison blown to dust my enemies walk free
Though all my kingdoms turn to sand and fall into the sea
I'm mad about you, I'm mad about you

I chose this song

...because it's the one in my head at the moment, and because I like Neil Young. ;)

Don't Let It Bring You Down

Old man lying
by the side of the road
With the lorries rolling by,
Blue moon sinking
from the weight of the load
And the buildings scrape the sky,
Cold wind ripping
down the alley at dawn
And the morning paper flies,
Dead man lying
by the side of the road
With the daylight in his eyes.

Don't let it bring you down
It's only castles burning,
Find someone who's turning
And you will come around.

Blind man running
through the light
of the night
With an answer in his hand,
Come on down
to the river of sight
And you can really understand,
Red lights flashing
through the window
in the rain,
Can you hear the sirens moan?
White cane lying
in a gutter in the lane,
If you're walking home alone.

Don't let it bring you down
It's only castles burning,
Just find someone who's turning
And you will come around.

Don't let it bring you down
It's only castles burning,
Just find someone who's turning
And you will come around.

Lagwagon

"Rust"
by Lagwagon
(I don't know 'em all for sure, but this is close)

they make your bed don't they?
long ago they faught and died for faith
what's changed?
it's said that we've learned tolerance
to build more bridges
cross those rivers
yet modern man enslaves his conscience
the undertow of blame still flows between
giving birth to the machine
............. of ancestry
slow to understand the variance
quick to judge on one aspect
rust
we call them fools today
they will call us fools in days to come
what's changed
in any age it's ignorance
he that is not with me
is against me
the river of pride swells too high
washing those bridges out to sea
giving birth to the machine
too proud to love, too proud
soaking in your fears
rusting away, away
never comprehending
always condescending
slow to understand
quick to judge
quick too condemn
rust
carried them for years
stones that they once cast
placed the blame on them
as if it wouldn'e last
yesterday's mistrust
resent, regret distrust
still we
pay for their living
pay for their mistakes
always
who will cast the latest stone of hate
always
pay for their living
pay for their misgiving
and find that on the surface there is rust

on the album "Trashed"

One from My Band

I sing and play guitar in a hardcore band
we have a song called "White walls, empty rooms"
these are the lyrics:

we suffered staying one more night
we suffered saying one more line
an invitation
against my skin
I painted pictures
Now I paint you out
to make no sound

Cold
losing face with you
cold
losing faith in you

we suffered my time reaching out
wondering what it's about
too many questions
can make it turn
when there's no answer
I get drunk and pass out on the ground

Cold
losing face with you
cold
losing faith in you
