Mardi Gras Gathering Boston 2005

Hi!
I'd like to have a mardi gras gathering this February the Thursday and Friday before mardi gras day....I was planning to play cajun music, serve southern food, lend my guests masks and beads, etc. I don't have a large place but I can put a few people up and there are cheap accomadations near me. I wanted to get a sense of how many people would be interested in attending. Let me know, okay?

I just wanted to anounce, I decided to change the date of my gathering since several people can't make it on weekdays.
So the first BEST Mardi Gras Gathering will be Friday Jan 28, Saturday Jan 29, Sunday Jan 30...starting Friday around 5:00.

I think our hostess has vanished. Cecilia's last post on this entire message forum was November 5, a whole month ago. I'm all in favor of continuing to look in here in case she returns, but until she does, I wouldn't make any assumptions or buy any plane tickets to Boston for this. Just my thoughts.

No, I'm still here :-...I've just been busy and I don't have internet access at home. I'll send some more private messages tomorrow....However, as I mentioned, I really don't have a big place - it isn't as big as Josie's -- so I can't accomadate as many guests as attend a NYST gathering (but that's what NEST is for, right?)

Gatherings are great Ticklebell...just talking about tickling is awesome enough but then to actually SEE tickling from willing lees is just amazing.

Sorry you may not be able to come. It looks like it might be a small sort of gathering...that's okay.
I was going to ask -- could everyone who hasn't already told me they're definitley coming who IS definity coming send me a private message now so I can know how much food to make and that kind of thing?:)
I still think it'll be a good time...we'll have zydedco music and beads and masks, etc...hope the snow doesn't deter too many people.

Oh, I knew that...I'm happy to report that it was a really good time; thanks to my guests for attending. There were exactly half a dozen people including me; the others were Venray and Venraya, Nicknons, Adam the Recycler, and Ticklebell. Adam the Recycler brought zydeco/cajun recordings from his library so what with his and mine, there was a constant soundtrack of the stuff. I decided that we should all (except the exclusively 'ler guest) draw lots to see who would go down first; I still think that is a good way to do it. Ticklebell was the last; she recited Shakespeare soliloquies and facts about actors to help her focus. The following day there were some nice group scenes. I think I'll do it again next year. And Saturday I'm off to the real thing (in LA). Cheers, Cecilia

Indeed it was a good one Tom. Cecilia was an awesome hostess and the company was wonderful. The conversation and personalities were as stimulating as the play....
