Today began the early voters program here in broward.
Just saw a report- the laptops that verify voter I.D.
have lost contact with the mainframe! Voters sat around
waiting for hours. I hope history does not show that
our electronic voting machines are an obvious joke
but with machines that are ALREADY proven to be
breechable a dozen different ways, I'm not optimistic.

Electronic voting with no paper backup is not the way to go until we develop a guaranteed foolproof system. The vote is too important a right to be taking chances with....

i don't like this whole idea of early voting. its clearly aimed at one candidate's benefit.

I don't agree, Baron. The history of problems on the
matter can be blamed on both parties. Taking alot of
time is an elementary school approach for a country
who can't seem to meet basic skill level of fair,
recorded voting.

I agree... but then again, this doesn't surprise me... It's sad to think that countries like India often have less problems with voting inaccuracy than our state governments do, and they have over a billion people. Not to mention, they're in the Third World as well. We keep wondering if the Iraqis are ready for democracy, but are we even able to function as one ourselves?

I guess I missed whatever news magazine explains why we're having early voting, and why only Florida. I admit I'm entirely clueless as to what is hoped to be improved over last year by doing it this way.

Actually Drew70,
There was about eight states doing early voting.I
can't name them, myself...I saw it last night
on A.B.C..
Baron, I revise my statement after thinking on it-
Technically the democrats are the 'squeaky wheel
in the media, but I know a few Bush supporters who
whole heartedly want to see fair play in the voting
process. Fair play, whether in theory or literally,
are one of the marks of being an american. That's
why crooked and/or greedy power broking gets passed
the average american. Our fair play is extorted,
often to the point where some of us say "No more
Mr. nice guy, dog eat dog", etc.
And if the voting circus would have elected Gore,
the republicans would be in the exact same roll
of improving the voting process.
This voting sham has probably been going on for...
always... I'll take a spotlight on it every time!
