Just curious what you're all listening to? If you were stranded on a desert island, which 5-10 albums would you HAVE to have with you?

Mine, in no order

"2112"-Rush
"Misplaced Childhood"-Marillion
"Zoso"-Led Zeppelin
"Edge of Thorns"-Savatage
"Absolutely"-Rik Emmett
"You can tune a piano, but you can't tuna fish"-REO Speedwagon
"Brain Salad Surgery"-Emerson, Lake and Palmer
"Triumph and Agony"-Warlock
"Shaking the Tree"-Peter Gabriel
"Power Windows"-Rush

In no particular order, hmm? Well then...

Doors 13
Dark Side of the Moon/Pink Floyd
Taking Tiger Mountain By Strategy/Brian Eno
Abbyssinians/June Tabor
The Very Best of Bonzo Dog Band
After the Gold Rush/Neil Young
I Often Dream of Trains/Robyn Hitchcock
Tchaikovsky: Violin Concerto in D Major/Isaac Stern
Shoot Out the Lights/Richard/Linda Thompson
Five Leaves Left/Nick Drake

ooooh, Zappa

I could easily swap After the Goldrush for Absolutely Free. Suzy Creamcheese, oh baby now...

punk a little metal

Its all pretty much punk expect for a few. In no particular order.

AFI "All hallows E.P"
AFI "Shut your mouth and open your eyes"
Bad Religion "All Ages"
Disturbed "The Sickness"
Iron Maiden "best of the beast"
Iron Maiden "Iron Maiden"
The Ramones "ramonesmania"
Black Flag "damaged"
Pennywise "Full Circle"
Dead Kennedys "Give me convenience or give me death"

Albums, pthah!

I would take 10 burned CD's with whatever songs I wanted on them :)

That would include some theatre (Les Mis, Miss Saigon, Rent), some punk (Greenday, Bad Religion, even some Blink 182), some country (Alan Jackson, John Michael Montgomery, Brooks and Dunn), some pop (BNL, Savage Garden, and a little N'Sync to groove to on those days I felt like singin' and dancin'), and a whole lotta techno.

And at least one version of "Bittersweet Symphony".

And at least one "Prozzak" song.

And several posters of Rachael Leigh Cook. ;)

I'd been wondering if the "2112" after your name was a Rush reference, Dave. My suspicions have been confirmed! Anyway my list includes:

Morphine/"Cure for Pain"
Mr. Bungle/"California"
Peter Gabriel/"Passion"
Rush/"Exit...Stage Left"
Devo/"Q:Are we not men? A:We are DEVO!"

2. Yanni Does Broadway Show Tunes
3. Pat Boone's Favorite Rap

I can't follow Strels list....he has taken all the good albums. Darn...Q

Here are mine, in no particular order:

1. Foxtrot, Genesis
2. Selling England By the Pound, Genesis

8. Scoop, Pete Townsend
9. Sgt. Peppers, The Beatles
10. Little Creatures, Talking Heads

Daumantas, Strel, thanks for the cola smell in my sinuses. Ouch.

Oh, and I'd swim, and keep swimming, 'til I reached the salvation of my CDs. I've stuff in there that was custom-burned from Tom Waits performances I saw, and several friends' band's albums, as well as a few hundred o' my favorites, plus all the obscure electro-acoustic stuff I studied for school. Just couldn't stay on an island and leave it behind.

Given some of the rather humorous responses, we oughta start a thread of "music for defense - how d'you scare off evil folk, musically". Dust off the "Slim Whitman does Devo" and start the amp's tubes warmin' up for a loud broadcast...
