How long does it take to write a good story?

One of my nonfiction stories, (http://www.ticklingforum.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=30972) which won a Golden Feather Award here, took only one day to write. It was easy, because all I did was tell what actually happened, from beginning to end, in a two hour tickling session.
Fiction stories take a lot longer. Sometimes I will think about an idea, making and then changing a plot outline, for many weeks. When I do sit down to write it, it usually takes two to three days, with breaks. Going back and editing takes another day.

From a less talented writer, what I have written usually takes a couple of weeks to a month (and who is to say if the story actually is any good?). Usually, in my mind I have the sotry worked out and know how I want it to flow, it's getting it to read on paper the same way the "fantasy" plays out in my mind. I, however, am not as disciplined as I should be when it comes to writing. I can go days or even a couple of weeks between starting to write the story and finishing it.
Primetime has indicated in a previous post that he pretty much sets aside a couple of hours a day for his writing. I wish I could do that.
Bottom line is, even if the story isn't great (and even if I don't post a reply), I enjoy reading what thoughts (true events or fantasies) are floating around people's heads.

like ctft2001 wrote, it does take some time. usually my stories take approx 2-3 hours to write. i think about an idea, then let it flow as i write, sometimes changing what i intended to write.
