Dramaqueen here ;)! Ok, since I can't search and find Karen's (shdwcoder) original post, I thought I'd start my own in thanks. As some of you know, I was in a car accident December 3rd, when a medicated 87 year old lady decided to run a red light. Although thankfully no one was hurt, the police came quickly and we all had insurance, the aftermath has been a nightmare which until yesterday consumed my life almost 24/7.
The accident destroyed my Christmas and my usual cheeriness. The trauma of it cost me time off work, a host of stomach problems and many sleepless nights, as well as straining a few relationships. Anyway, it has finally all been settled, two months after the fact. I got the only car I ever really loved repaired beautifully (they wanted to total it inially) and after literally hundreds of phone calls (including one just yesterday to the Insurance Commissioner's office) I finally succeeded in getting my deductible waived. (Why the heck should I pay for somoene else's screw up? I was obeying the law and minding my own business)

This post is to thank those of you who checked up on me on a weekly (and in some cases) daily basis via email, phone calls, PMs and IMs.
I won't name names because I know some of you are shy. :)
To those of you who tried to cheer me up and encouraged me to hold my ground w/the insurance co. regarding the deductible, and last but not least, a VERY special thank you to the genereous gentleman (who I've never met) who offered to pay the deductible for me. When I thanked him and politely declined his offer (saying that although I do on occasion loan, I NEVER borrow money from friends) he told me it wasn't a loan, it was a gift because he wanted to see me happy and he knew that I wasn't. :wow: I love you all and appreciate your help more than words can say. Some of you were better friends thru this than my own family members.

I am very happy for you, Steph, that all things concerning this episode in your life have been finally resolved. I never really knew the extent of the effect that this had on your life as of late. Even though you went through this, you seem to me to be a very strong lady whom I am honored to have made your acquaintaince. I really wish I had you upbeat attitude and resolve. There is of course a part of me that feels so silly about this. My last car accident was a rollover which totalled my car, landed me in the hospital with stitches in my leg and months of physical therapy so I could learn to walk again. I do know, logically, how lucky I am and that it could've been worse, but the lack of communication here drove me crazy. I'd call and people would take days to return my calls. I felt so abandoned... I'm paying these idiots hundreds of dollars per year to be ignored, WTF?

Also, I think a good deal of my mishandling the incident was that it comes on the heels of the elbow splitting mirror incident. I'm so used to helping people with disadvantages, not being one of them. Six months later, I'm still having pain from the stitches. I'm such an f'ing baby I know!

Only a select few knew the toll this was taking on me, and they spent many nights trying to console a drunken, crying, frustrated idiot (me) Some even calling from other countries~wow!

Well I am sorry to hear about your accident Steph and I am glad it was all finally resolved.

Insurance is the biggest scam ever..miss a payment and they drop you on the spot...

I'm glad you got your car back in somewhat better shape than before. But the most important thing is that you survived all that and lived to tell about it. I know steph is a great wonderful person from simply seeing her posts and I personally would sincerely like to become better close friends than an acquaintance .. I haven;t heard stephs voice myself though I would enjoy talking to her myself as steph knows that we have a mutual friend that will remain nameless because steph will know *who* without me telling or reminding her :D

Steph, don't be so amazed the love that the members here show for you in pure and true and obvious. It's beautiful. Only at the TMF can we find the acceptance that we are all yearning for. I hope those who are "rabble rousers" remember this. We are ALL here for the same reason, we joined because a common interest and seeking the fellowship of those who understand. Steph helped teach me that.

I read too much lately about those complaining about the forum. If we can just not encourage those looking for a flame by ignoring them, 1.) they'll leave if they don't get want they want or 2.) our wonderful hard working mods will politely show them the door. Cheesy I know, but in the end, it's all about the love. :D

I can sincerely say that without the TMF,that I wouldn;t have as much fun,enjoyment in my life..Seems sad I know but it;s true..Consider this: I work full time myself and no offense to them but alot of my co-workers are teenagers which besides working in same place,I share nothing else in common with them.. By the time I get home, I don;t feel like going out as I don;t want,and don;t feel safe going out by myself...So a picture into my life is that when I get home from work,I'm looking forward to seeing friends on TMF posting and I honestly can;t remember how I got along when I didn;t have the TMF or the Internet..
I can only say this in closing, I know that some of my posts in other threads which I won;t mention out of respect for the threads, have been deleted..I only want to say that I hope that I am not one of the members that maybe other members complain about as that is not my intention,..I want everyone else that is a member here to thoroughly enjoy themselves whether they are newbie or old member on TMF..

Well, I spell "classy" as "open minded".... it's all what it comes down to. I love this place and I highly value those as equally open minded as me. To me, it seems easy... but thats how I was raised, those with not such a tolerant background might think otherwise... I hope someday they learn to be accepting, that is what this place is all about.

I'm sorry it was so much of a hassle and caused you such anguish, but am extremely thankful you are okay and weren't hurt badly. I haven't been around as much recently, and it's because of travails I'm experiencing....my feeble little grandmother hasn't been feeling well for awhile now, and the great aunt I'm trying to watch after since her hubby died last spring has suffered two TIA's (mini-strokes) in the past three weeks, so I've been at the hospital a great deal (and not feeling much like posting when at home).

I hope 2005 becomes a healthy, happy, and wonderful year for both of us Steph :)

Caring for the elderly is definitely a challenge; by far the most difficult task of my life...but those two elderly ladies took great care of me after my mother died in 77'; to me they are both mom.

I know all about it. I take care of and almost 87 year old lady who is losing her hearing and we are trying to save her eye sight. It is a real challenge with alot of bumps in the road. The day I lose her a piece of mt heart will really die. I know my 12 year old son feels that way too. So carry on Perry. You are truly one of the good guys.

Thank you sweet Perry~I spoke briefly about it here but didn't make a big deal about it. I'm used to helping people who need me, not being one in need. The fact I was dependent on others was killing me and only a select few knew the toll it was taking on me, and beleive you me, they were NOT happy to see this usually cheerful ham so wrecked. Well steph i for one am very happy with most of the people here in the TMF. I have loved tickling feet since a kid, and always kept it to myself. But now i dont have to. And since i have been single, No one else could understand why i love to tickle and have fun with it. But every one here has always welcomed me here with open arms.
