I had gotten quicktime last night, and I have mixed feelings about the whole thing. It's not bad, but compared to windows media player its a tad choppy, and the clips are a little grainy. My question is how to switch back and forth and get the best of both worlds. At the moment Quicktime playes everything that Windows used to play. I would rather have both.

I figured I would ask the pros before I go mucking around in my comp and delete something I need. lol

I am assuming that you are looking to change the default application for mpeg files and others.

One way to do this is to right click on the file with the extension that you want to change (i.e. and .mpg file) and then select the Open with... option. This will open a dialog box with all of the applications that you can use. Select the Windows Media Player or whatever app you want to use for handling that file type, and check the checkbox that says that you want to use this application for all future files.

After clicking OK, the file will be opened with the application you selected and that extension should now be associated with that application.

You'll have to excuse me for being vague on the last part of this since I'm currently working in a Linux environment and can't check the exact details.
