View Full Version : How Much Internet Is Too Much?

I know you folks have been there since your using a PC now. Youve just tried out some sites that frankly werent very friendly peoplewise (I wont mention any names!), the ebay bids you won have gargantuan postage attatched to them and the information you typed in Google came fitfully if at all. Minutes turn into hours and before you know it, you sign out and your server says you spent 213 minutes on the computer. Now you have a hunched over/burnt out feeling. The only thing is you got to look something else up usually that you forgot the first time and you spent another enormous amount of time on the net. Well does the internet become an overlydominant part of your life? Maybe you find it is becoming your life....

That I love the internet. It's never enough. In the past 5 years or so, I have gained an immeasurable wealth of information, made some buddies, and was able to participate in discussions otherwise not found in my day-to-day life.

The internet is a dominant force in my life, and a welcomed one. Sure, there have been many hours wasted looking up ghost pictures and other nefarious activities at times, but for the most part, me try to edukate meself so that I'll be a gooder person.

Cheers.:D

In June of 2004, I had been housesitting for a friend who just happened to have a computer. She let me use it and I found TMF. After the housesitting gig was over, I bought this computer. That was September, 2004. I wanted to keep in touch with Steph and the gang, and hopefully use the computer to help promote my business. Before I bought the computer, I used to spend at least two hours a day practicing my guitar and reading books. Since I bought the computer, I've spent a total of maybe one hour in the past seven months practicing my guitar or reading. Has the computer helped my business? No, but that's because I haven't really put in much effort.

My name is Frankie and I'm a computer addict.

Slowly but surely, I'll spend less time on this technological marvel and get on with my other interests. I love the people and friends I've met here at TMF and other websites in which I'm involved, but I really need to limit the amount of time I spend online.

Don't for one second think that I regret buying the computer! Like I said before, I've met some incredible people online and I'll keep in touch. I just need to manage my time a little more sensibly.

Frankie, you make sense as ususal! I guess everyone has days when they spend 3 hours on the computer and conversely days when they spend a half hour. Everyone I met on TMF have been great. Theyve treated a newcomer from New York like an old friend and I can never repay that. Sometimes I go back in the archives and see some really weird people who are Satanists, Manson Family members, Special Forces soldiers, etc. Well they could be Superman or Green Lantern for all it matters but why abuse such a great place like here? Ive had a ball! Thank each and every one of you...starting with you Frankie! :bowing:

Wickerman, you're very welcome. I enjoy TMF immensely, too. But honestly, when I first bought the computer I spent up to eight hours a day using it! No wonder my business began losing steam. I'll be here, but not as often as before. I could never permanently leave what has become my second home. I hope you'll still be here every now and then.

Kitten, you know I adore you, Sweetie. If you don't see me here at TMF, I'll either be sending you e-mail or calling you on the phone. I'll never lose touch with you. You are very near and dear to my heart.
