My favorite music group is KISS. Kiss rocks because they had two guys in their group to keep them alive and that was Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley and my hat goes off to them two and now the band is done but I think Kiss will come back and rock the nation one more time

My faves, in order...

Rush - they are always changing, never getting pigoen-holed and never put out anything for the sake of following trends. There has to be something about a band who's sold more albums than almost any other classic band without ever having had a Top Ten single. I've been to 14 Rush concerts and it never ceases to amaze me how 15-year-old fans are cheering right along with the Old-Timers.

Marillion - A little known Scottish band (little know in the States anyway) Check them out...you'll thank me.

Led Zeppelin - Hey...It's ZEP! You know....The Gods?

Asia - not the new incarnation that's still cranking out stuff, but the classic line-up.

REO Speedwagon - PRE Top 40 years...back in the '70's. Gary Richrath was the most underrated guitarist in Rock.

Jethro Tull - Just plain love 'em.

Peter Gabriel - solo and Genesis in the Gabriel years.

Bob Marley and The Wailers made music that move me like no other. Rarely can an artist be both provocative and just downright fun to listen to, Marley pulled it off very well. He has influenced countless other artists from almost every musical genre. His records still sale quite well after his death, as his music continues to reach new generations. Like all of the greatest recording artists, his music sounds just as fresh and unique now as it ever did, and the topics of his songs are still relevant.

Dave, Was a big Rush fan in high school, saw them twice("Moving Pictures" and "Signals" tours). Also remember Marillion and "Kayleigh" in the 80s. My favorites - Deep Purple, Cream, Yardbirds, Skynyrd, Van Halen, Uriah Heep, Zeppelin. -Drew

Bob Seger, Skynyrd, Stones, Black Sabbath, Zep, AeroSmith, Delaware Destroyers, U2, Mellencamp, ZZ Top, Tull, BT OverDrive, Blue Oyster Cult, Thin Lizzy, REM...ya know...there's too many for this to be coherent really....depends on the day and the mood...could be StainD and Billy Joel tomorrow....Enya and Mozart the next. But I will check out Marillion, since there's a few here that seem to like 'em! Q

Q, if you're going to check out Marillion, be aware that they went through kind of a "David Lee Roth-to-Sammy Hagar" thing. If you like really progressive rock, ala Gabriel or old Genesis....check out the albums from their early years with a singer named "fish" (Yes, I'm serious)

Script for a Jester's Tear, Fugazi, Misplaced Childhood and Clutching at Straws. They also did a double-live called La Gazza Ladra that is kind of catch-all.

Anything after that features a guy named Steve Hogarth on vocals, and the music is more eclectic now. Kind of Enya on acid with better guitars!

I highly recommend "Misplaced Childhood", a concept album that rivals "The Wall". (This was the source of the aforementioned 'Kayleigh' and 'Lavender' tunes.)

Without a doubt...KISS. 30 years of rockin and they still have a few shows to do on their Farewell tour. They were my main influence to pick up a guitar and my inspiration to never quit on anything.

Other bands I dig are Zep, Aero, Dokken, Whitesnake, Ozzy.

Long Live Rock!!!!

Too many to really calculate, but here it goes:

Led Zeppelin, The Who, Henry Cow, Genesis, Mission of Burma, The Police, Gentle Giant, Yes, Thin Lizzy, Killing Joke, Black Sabbath, Wishbone Ash, Live Skull, Of Cabbages and Kings, Blue Oyster Cult, National Health, The Art Bears, A Certain Ratio, The Cars, Fugazi, Voivod, Thinking Plague, Helmut, Rush, Steely Dan, Talking Heads, Level 42, Failure, Stereolab... who have I left out?

I'm with you, Q, on a number of your favorites. I'm somewhat surprised that someone else on this board is into Thin Lizzy. Are you familiar with Johnny the Fox? That's such a great album.

I proudly say I am stuck in high school when I think of my favorite groups

They are:

Rush- Multi Talented to say the least

Led Zep- One of the best rock and roll bands with Page as arguable the best lead guitarist of all time

The Who- Produced one of the best albums of all time- Who's Next

Boston- A group that could have gone farther than they did. I find it hard to believe that a group with so much pizazz only produced three albums. However, Tom Scholtz didn't want it that way.

Stones

Beatles- C'Mon how could anybody NOT like the fab 4

Pink floyd- Great music while you are partying.

I have to admit KISS is right up there as well. One of my first concerts was seeing KiSS at MSG in 1977 abd they put on a unique show to say the least. they were also the most recent concert i saw as well with Aerosmith.

Aerosmith- Love to work out to them.

OMG is THIS thread ever a blast from the past! Over 2 years old! I get the feeling you were bored, weren't you, Koochee? LOL

My favorite group is Nickelback. But I adore and appreciate many groups from the 70's through current. Some that come to mind are 10CC, Boston, Kansas, Foreigner, Styx, almost ALL 80's hair bands (Slaughter, Stryper, Vixen, Warrant, Poison, Skid Row, Bon Jovi, Steelheart, Firehouse...to name a few), Staind, Disturbed, Godsmack, Papa Roach, Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, Hoobastank, Incubus, Evanescence, Crooked Jimmy, Econoline Crush, Default, Trapt, Ataris, Saliva....I could continue, but you get the point. ;)

I guess I'm just a rock junkie...lol

No Mimi, just utilized the search feature to see if anyone had already posted a thread on this subject, rather than start a new one on the same.
