What's everybody's take on the illegal aliens bleeding our economy to death. I think if we force them out of here, we might be able to save some money. I don't expect Bush and his colleagues to grasp the concept since our government seems to be morons, but we need to get these bastards the hell out of America. They're freeloading on our healthcare and taking jobs we deserve and I've had enough of it. If we don't bring these aliens under control, they'll be working their way over to the east coast in the next 30 or 40 years. I think we should be supplying our hospitals with shotguns to keep these people out. What do you think?

As far as Mexico is concerned, it's pretty much hopeless. We can't really keep the illegal ones out, but... we can make it a lot less comfortable for them here.
You wanna know why so many people don't mind hiring cheap illegal labor? It's because we usually don't prosecute the people who hire them. Big corporations like TIMCO get busted for hiring lots of illegal labor, but the individuals and small businesses get away with it without many repercussions. If we set a law that guaranteed a few years in jail for hiring illegal labor, then these business owners would think twice about risking time in jail over saving a few bucks per hour. With less people willing to hire illegals, then it will become a lot less desirable for them to come here. When work becomes hard for them to find, most of them will stop coming.

While i can appreciate the concern of Illiegal alliens in the workplace, i was under the impression that if a person worked hard and was good at there job, then they deserve that job. Radical thinking perhaps...

Cosmo... I admit that our illegals are often very hard workers, but the problem is that they unnecessarily burden our infrastructure.
However... I just thought of something.... If these people are so eager to work here, then we should send them to the disaster areas in the Gulf right now. We are in dire need of manpower in the Katrina-hit areas, and we could offer illegals that help us in the reconstruction of the area with full citizenship. I know that sounds kind of cracked-out, but hey, most of our National Guard is bound up with Iraq right now....

Think for a second. Illegal... aliens. They're not Americans! The issue is not whether or not they are good workers. They're getting healthcare that comes out our pockets. I don't remeber these parasites paying taxes. last I checked they were getting that stuff for free. On top of that what about all the stories about people getting robbed and their homes being ransacked by illegal aliens. There is also the issue of national security. I don't want to see this turn into some kind of revolution. Our nation is in a fragile state as it is. We don't need illegal aliens making things more inconvenient for us. This is the problem I have with the Bush administration.

We need to eliminate all illegal aliens as best we can, then drastically cut welfare in this country. and only give to the people that really need it. then see how fast lazy welfare recipients suck up those so called jobs no americans want.

I'll give a perspective from the UK.
We call them illegal immigrants, rather than aliens, but the effect is the same. If they come here, they get a house, money to live, clothes etc. and support finding a job. They get free healthcare and an entitlement to health services/operations etc.
That said, despite all of the money we chuck at them, they do apparently generate more money than is spent on them. They do the jobs most people in the UK don't want to do and they stimulate our economy.
Most economic reports that are noted upon in newspapers seem to show the immigrants/aliens are a boost to the economy.
I presume the situation is the same in the US.

Your country is based on illegal immigrants man! It is a new country based on aliens. So how can you say people shouldn't enter your country?

Freeloading on our healthcare? Even most of us legal Americans don't have healthcare... where are they getting a chance to freeload on it? I want in on it!
Meanwhile I'll continue to freeload on Canada's healthcare, which is actually socialized and accessible to all people - not just people with enough money to be able to afford a healthy body.

::lol::
I have one of those jobs. Why doesn't anyone want those jobs? Are they demeaning or gross? By and large, no.
It's called "minimum wage," which is set at $5.15/hr. In New York it's $6.00, which is marginally better.
But all I can say is, I'm damn glad I don't have a family to raise, and have reduced my bills to a minimum. I have enough to live on - barely. I don't have health care or dental care (can't afford it, and it's not offered with minimum wage jobs). And I daresay I've got it quite lucky.
Yeah, cutting aid to people with no money so they can go out and get a minimum wage job and make enough money to barely be able to feed themselves, and maybe even have heat for the house, but definitely not get food for their children, or, now especially, gasoline... that's the answer alright. ::rolleyes::

From a historical point, I think it's funny that a nation founded and built by immigrants, who cast aside the people who rightfully owned this land, should now complain that immigrants are taking their jobs and worsening the economy. It’s so funny, that there is a certain irony to it.
Also, since too many U.S. citizens don't want to watch their own children, clean their own streets, toilets, or floors, and don't want to drive cabs, or work late hours at convenience stores and gas stations, who exactly is supposed to do all this much needed work?
Sorry, the answer isn't in deporting immigrants. The blame lies with our lousy government officials who allow immigrants to come to this country and remain here as undocumented workers while they are still afforded the same constitutional rights as Americans. I would never advocate the denial of an immigrant to become a naturalized citizen, but I do expect that immigrant to pay into the very same system he is living within. I expect him to pay taxes, I expect him to pay his hospital bill if he doesn't have health insurance, and I expect him to obey housing laws that prohibit 48 people to live in an 800 square foot house.
Then again, I also expect my neighbors to abide by the law and not support businesses that use undocumented workers. I expect them not to rent their 800 Sq. Ft. houses to 48 people. But greed in America is a much more powerful incentive than integrity. So don't point your shotguns at immigrants. Point them at yourselves.

I can't disagree with you more. I'm surprised that i'm the only person who is disappointed enough with your response to voice my disapproval in this thread. Lesser comments have been known to start flame wars.
Why deport them? Do you just mean illegal immigrants, or genuine asylum seekers, fleeing terror and persecution in countries overseas? The US has to take its share of asylum seekers - you must agree to that point??

A couple of us have tried to engage flame baiters in intelligent debate, but their reliance on flat out antagonistic comments has made it a futile effort. Their posts are what I like to call "Hit and Run" stupidity. Do a history on their posts, and you'll also come to the conclusion that you can't squeeze brain cells from a turnip.

Those would be refugees, which are far different from illiegal aliens.

If we can get rid of corporate welfare first, then we'll talk. As long as we give government money to corporations, we really can't touch regular welfare. Giving to the poor is one thing, but giving to the rich is fucking abominable while people are still dying in the streets.
